Hollywood Studios Strategies

Thank you for your input! I think I wouldn't want people around me with their masks off so we shouldn't do the same. I'll bring some bite sized stuff we can shove up our masks if need be 🤣

No problem! Most of the time you can get away from anything that's making you uncomfortable (people without masks on). If we didn't like how closely a party was following us, we'd (nicely) just let them know to pass us. We kept some extra distance from parties in front of us at times, and took paths through the parks we knew would be less crowded. We did think it would be better compliance from what we had read beforehand, but at any point you could definitely see someone not wearing a mask properly or having it around their neck eating/drinking. And really I know that we can walk away from that, but at that point it was really us getting annoyed that people weren't following the rules for the cast members sake. I bought a Remy shoulder pet thing that you wear on your shoulder. I made a little mask for him and so many CM's said he was better at wearing masks than a lot of people.

Also, some of the lines snake out realllllllyyyyy far from where the actual entrance is. It seems like a lot more people than usual are getting in and out of line with their groups, which I think is totally understandable and fine, and I'm not sure how most people feel about it. So if you get in line and find your little one needs a break, it's easy to step away and use the bathroom/have a snack/just walk around for a minute. Since a lot of the lines are outside it's easy to rejoin your group before they enter the real queue area. The only time I think it's not okay is when you're in the real queue area and you'd have to pass everyone through the queue to rejoin, but just know that you could have that option if the line is long.

Hi. Does anyone know the exact address of the Speedway that is by the BW/BC?
We will be six adults and although we have no problems walking, is it a highway or regular street to cross
and is it very difficult getting onto property?
I was at BC last month and don't remember seeing the Speedway, but we only took Disney transportation.

Thank you all.

That's a big "it depends." You aren't supposed to eat/drink unless you're stationary and can be physically distanced. However, it seemed like every line we were in had people with their masks off eating and drinking which did bother us. It made me feel bad for cast members trying to enforce the rules. I'm not talking about a lollipop for kids like you're saying but I'm talking about people literally running out of line to grab drinks and snacks for their party, and they kept their masks off throughout the line while they were eating/drinking. Cast members didn't always say something, but then I would hear a few cast members telling guests to pull up their masks or be escorted out of the park (I think he must have had a long day at that point).

So I guess my point is in reality I'd bet on no one saying anything to you about it. And if you find they do say anything, it would just be them asking you to stop. Also, I'm not saying I'd be bothered by a kid eating a lollipop

That's so cute that you did that! I'm sure the CMs got a kick out of it! Thank you for the input, I really appreciate it

We will be there next week. We are staying at Copper Creek. We will have a rental car. What is the best way to get to rope drop at HS? Car? Bus? Not sure what to do!
I have the exact same question. We will be at Copper Creek in November with a rental car. Earlier this month we were at Kidani with a rental car. I felt it was a disadvantage for HS. The day we were there, the park opened at 10. We were at the gate to park a little after 9 (not the first in line, but I would guess no more than 8 cars ahead of us). They let us in to the parking lot at 9:15. We went directly to MMR only to discover the queue was already at capacity! So I am looking for a different strategy for November. I’m uneasy with rideshare right now, and the entire reason I have rented a car is to reduce our exposure both on the bus and waiting for the bus. I’m undecided what to do. I don’t want another 90 minute wait for MMR. We might try the bus the day we go to HS.

Thank you for your reply. We got a rental car for the same reasons as you. Just not sure what to do. Decisions, decisions.

The wording of this is pretty hilarious. They talk about all you have to do is reserve at 7 AM from the convenience of your hotel room, and how this will make DHS more enjoyable and relaxing. AKA, the local AP holders were getting on Rise too much, and blocking the hotel guests too much, so let's make a system that's much more hotel guest friendly that does little else.

It doesn't really say that, it says you can get a bg if you have a park reservation and are nearby, now I'll be testing this next week from my house, i live about 20min away

How is the new procedure more hotel guest friendly? Anyone with a park ticket and a DHS reservation can try for a boarding group at 7.

Right, I guess that the devil will be in the details, and nobody really knows anything beyond that one webpage at this point. I mean, I think that they'd be crazy to allow people to make reservations anywhere other than on site. They've done nothing to upsell their hotels lately and I can't imagine having to compete with all of Orlando for the fastest fingers competition and not just the people inside the park.

Personally, I hope that you do at least have to drive on site somewhere, I'd rather just drive out there and have a better crack at it and go home if I can't get it than have to compete with all of Orlando at the same time. I feel like a lot of locals won't want to make the drive that early in the morning.

Well, I explain this is my last reply, but this is assuming that you'd need to be onsite with your GPS to be eligible. So naturally this will give hotel guests a big advantage. I can't imagine many locals or off site hotel people being happy about driving all the way over to a parking lot to enter the sweepstakes, and having to kill three hours before rope drop.

Why would you assume that? I don't read it that there will be any location determination at all. Anyone with a ticket and park reservation can get a boarding group.

correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought you had to physically be in the park, scanned in, waiting to attempt a boarding group.

I kinda like this, but I'm a morning person so I'd be up at 7a anyway. I think it would be even better (and more fair) to get a boarding pass when you get your park pass. That way you know when you get your park pass whether or not you will even get a boarding pass, and you can change parks if it's a deal-breaker if you don't get one. I'm guessing DHS would be a little less crowded too.

I can only imagine the parking lots, roads & any "nearby" area of Disney property filled with AP holder vehicles as they try to get boarding groups & then sit there for 3 hours waiting for the park to open.
