I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

So I just had major surgery; this eviction was long overdue and I am at home recovering well. As a gift to ourselves, we'd like to buy a new king mattress. I'd love to hear any suggestions.
Glad you are recovering well.

We bought a Sleep Number several years ago and has been the best thing ever. DW likes a firmer mattress and I prefer it softer, so we both get what we want. Also has an adjustable head and foot. Head adjustment was very nice after shoulder surgery and I needed to incline more.

Well worth it!

A few months back I purchased a split king latex mattress from PlushBeds. I'm happy with it now, but it took a long time for the smell from the natural latex to go away. It's also quite heavy.

Back from Vegas where we stayed at the Hilton Elara on timeshare exchange. This is the trip that I wanted the painful Wyndham biz card for. Caesar's status match turned out to be painless. Wyndham Diamond showed up the day after approval and Caesar's match only took 6 days. I didn't end up using the benefits as much as I'd hoped though.

- Thought we'd have to pay for parking at the Elara for $18/day. They share a parking garage with Planet Hollywood, so parking would have been free with Caesar Diamond. But then turned out we didn't have to pay for Elara parking on exchange.
- Thought I'd get the $100 celebration dinner, but it never showed up in my account. Was told that with status matches, you only get it after 100 credits. From what I could find, that's true EXCEPT for match from Wyndham Diamond. 🤷‍♀️

- We did get free parking visiting other Caesar's resorts and saved $100.
- Got 2 free tickets to the High Roller Wheel. This is once a month, so I thought I could stack for our group, getting 2 in March and 2 in April. But nope, they expire 3 days after you get the voucher OR end of the month, so no way to use 2 month's worth at once. Thought I was being so smart, but the casinos are smarter lol.

Glad you are recovering well.

We have a sleep number split king adjustable. I love it. I watch tv in it every night. It’s the adjustable I think I love more than the mattress itself but I could never go back to a regular bed.

With tax day bearing down, I'm contemplating going for the BA Chase 2 for 1 after spending $30k. I think @calypso726 used to do these? Any problems or things I should know or are they pretty straightforward? I'm liking the idea of getting 180t-200,000 avios with a Club or First Class RT. Not sure why this hasn't been on my radar before. I have a love/hate with this card. It's so hard for me to get the $200 credits for my award flights. I've had to chase probably 15-20 down over the years we've had the card :( But $600 a year per card is hard to give up--even with all the chasing.

New to this thread, and thought it a good place to ask about a card issue. This quarter (April-June), my Chase Freedom card has a 5% rewards for dining. So upon check-in at our hotel yesterday (Pop Century) I had the CM key in that card number for our Magic Bands. We charged breakfast and dinner using our bands.

The tickets show "Disney Parks" and the name of the restaurant. However, at the bank, the charge shows up as travel, rather than dining, which is a significant difference in rewards.

We have several kinda spendy sit-down meals reserved for this week, so there's enough money involved to get my attention.

We also have a Chase Sapphire Preferred that we normally use for hotel, air, train, etc. It has a better travel rewards rate than the Freedom, but not the 5% dining reward.

Any suggestions from card experts is welcome

Just spur of the moment applied for the Disney Visa for trip this Friday. Does anyone know if they will expedite the card so I can hopefully have it in time for our trip? I have so many dining reservations I’d like to use it for.
Call them asap and ask.
Have a wonderful time on your trip!

The card shows up in your App once you have it, to show for discounts but you have to have it to use it for the purchase. The best deal was the annual pass at 20% off in stores. DVC also got this. Chase was mostly 10%. I just got back on Monday and for once in a long line of trips I had to buy 'stuff', so it saved me lots.

Use your card directly at the next restaurant. Someone recently reported that the hotel charge counted based on their experience, but as in all things I guess your mileage may vary is a factor here.

On the other hand are you looking at 'details' on your Chase account? Mine show 1% and 4% for a total of 5% when I use this payment method during the quarters they have it. I was at Disney for a week before Easter and did a variety of payment options to include Disney gift cards. You can have them applied to your account also. My dining bill was close to $2500 with pricey restaurants and 6 people to pay for so I was watching it closely. I was too early for the Freedom quarter.

Yep, I've seen anything that charges to the room is coded as travel, but if you pay at the restaurants directly then most code as restaurant.

:welcome: In my experience putting restaurants on your magic band codes as travel since it’s going back on the hotel bill.
Using the Freedom card directly at sit down restaurants IME coded as restaurants

I have a couple of card cancelations.
I got an email that one of my CICs that I never use will be closed for lack of activity if I don't charge something soon. I'm probably just going to let them close it as between DH and I we have several.
Yesterday I logged into my Amex account and noticed the red "account is canceled"
on my employee card for DH's BBP. Had never gotten any warning on that. Thankfully he has a Biz Gold to keep his MRs safe.
The fee just posted on my Venture card. Last month I canceled DH's as I had transferred all his points over to mine to pay off or DCL trip in Feb. I have a few points remaining. Is it worth the $95 fee to keep this card? Between 2 SUBs and the support points we paid for good chunks of the Starcruiser and a 5 night DCL.

Yes, we have each have had the card twice. Just know that if you don't use the travel together ticket before it expires it is unlikely to be extended. However, with your frequency of trips across the pond you will have no issue. It will cover the point cost for your companion but you still have to pay the taxes and fees on said companion. If you are booking when the schedule opens, use the TTT for the outbound. When the return opens, book both seats using the full amount of avios and then call the next day to have it adjusted. Alternatively, you can call when the return opens and have them do it. The card is also on my radar again.

We are looking at doing England next May/June but I saw they have a bank holiday the week of Memorial Day. Is that something we should avoid and go in June instead?

Awesome thank you so much. I knew about the taxes but didn’t realize I could book one way and then have it adjusted—that’s great. I may even try to use it for Egypt if we go through with that trip but like you said easy for us to use with all the London trips. Thank you!!!
