Plus I can feel my testosterone levels dropping just thinking about driving a minivan...not my style at all.
48 hours before my trip and the rates haven't dropped yet. They're sitting higher than they were about a month ago. Book early and continue to watch; my lowest cost came at 10 days out. (alamo)
For our September trip, I reserved a Full-Size car for 7 days, unlimited mileage, with Avis for total $182.92 (fees & taxes included). I am still hoping that it gets cheaper the closer we get to the end of September.
I've recently read some advice that, at least with Alamo, that you should request an agent to inspect your car for previous damage before you leave the rental lot. Is this true? Does anyone currently do this or do they automatically do this when you check out at the booth? Thanks in advance for any insight...

We have an Alamo reservation for Saturday. I did the on-line checkin so that we could go straight to the garage. I need to add DH as a driver. I am assuming I need to add him at the booth at the garage or do I do it as we exit?
Still hanging at $112 for alamo and $113 for dollar. Question though. Last time we rented a car they told us to walk right out to the garage but had assigned us a car in the opposite terminal, it was a big pain to get corrected. How do I know which side I go to? A or B?
Are you an insider? I used the regular insider discount, combined with the free upgrade for insiders. My price was for a standard, which at MCO let's you choose from the full size aisle. I tried your dates, assuming a noon drop off and pick up, and got the same neighborhood as you for price, but if I put in one less day, it's back into the $70s total. Maybe try booking the 4 days, then call and jut ask to add a day at the same rate? Maybe gmeh1 can tell us if that might work.
I just switched over from a minivan ($580) to a standard SUV ($475) with Alamo thru Costco for 14 days. We drive a GMC Acadia at home and I have a hard time believing that a minivan will provide the storage space that we need. Sure a minivan may have lots of seats but we only need 5 seats but will have 4 suitcases and a stroller.

gmeh1 said:No, the agent will not inspect the car, you do. They will not sign anything regarding damage to the car, they are forbidden to. What they will do is note any damage (within the guidelines of the handy dandy guage they have) in the computer under your reservation. Don't ask for a copy cause it won't print out. You can ask to see what they have entered in the computer.
gmeh1 said:Are you flying into MCO? If so, they don't assign cars, you do to the garage and select a car, after you either check in online, use the kiosk or counter, do not just go to the garage without doing one of these things first, it does not matter which side. This is for Alamo. I don't know what Dollar does.
Thanks for this info!
