The "Why I didn't speak to my sister for a week" trip report *** Now Complete :)

IMG_5232.jpg

You couldn't bribe a CM to lock her in there and throw away the key?:lmao:

Loving your report - it's hysterical!

Very funny trip report! I would leave my sister if she couldn't keep up-it's DISNEY. Can't wait to read more.

Well we tried a few more times, then we had to do what we had to do. And boy did we enjoy it :)

Patience of a saint!

It ain't gonna last.

All your TRs have been so much fun to read ~~ you do such a great job! :thumbsup2 Any *first timers* here will have to go back and read the previous ones to see what they missed! :) (must have been the catchy title that got 'em this time)

Awww

Ugh, I know how frustrating it can be to deal with people who don't wanna get up in the morning at Disney. My husband was like that when we went in December. He wanted to sleep in and kept saying "but it's my honeymoon!" to which I would respond "but it's Disney!!!" You'd think the fact that they are in freakin' Disney World would be enough to get them moving, but I guess some people just really enjoy their sleep...

I think Grumpy & I said that exact sentence about 300 times every day. If being at Disney won't get them moving, what will ?!

I hate to admit that I am enjoying and entertained by your misfortune...

How can someone enjoy reading about someone else's nightmare trip  I don't know, but I do.... :rotfl2: I think it is because I can totally relate..... we all seem to have one of those sisters.....

I have to ask.... I see that you flew out of Paris.... were you born in France? Your english is wonderful.... I sure wish my french was as good!

Hey, it wasn't exactly a nightmare. But we did miss the Dream Team :)

Yes,we're all French born and raised here (unfortunately IMO). Grumpy's an English teacher, and we went to England several times a year ever since I was an infant. So I guess that's why English kind of came naturally to me.
Jon Bon Jovi kind of helped, too. And David Boreanaz :upsidedow

Great update!! I was glad to read that you got your sister up and moving, allthough slowly, for your ADR. Hope she does not go and nap the rest of the day away

Not the whole day, but long enough to....

Well at least after breakfast you had fun!! I hope your first day continues to be that way but....LOL

Yep. But.

I was thinking the same thing. I threatened my husband that I was going to leave his pregnant sister behind if she couldn't keep up. I'm so bad.

And I agree...Your english is great.:thumbsup2

LOL too funny about the pregnant sister. And thanks for the compliment on my English :)

I am soooo in.

You are a great sister to even take your sister with you. I can't say that I would ever do that.

DON'T !!! Run, Forrest, Runnnnnnnnnnn !!

great day so far, glad you made it to crystal palace for your adr, agree with you about piglet and the bacon I always wait till after too:laughing: :thumbsup2

Thank goodness it's not just me (or did you say that only to make me feel better?).

Oh my !!! My youngest sister DOES have a clone !!!!!

Again, run Forrest run !!!!!!

Goodness, I give you credit for being as nice as you have been... so far.....

Key words here being SO FAR.

Oh I feel so bad for you! So far I can totally understand what you're going through! My SIL and BIL had no clue and we missed so much on our trip (luckily we've been multiple times and we now live only a couple hours from the Happiest Place on Earth so we'll be back soon!) because they were so slow and lazy and always complaining about something. Please tell me y'all split up soon so you and Grumpy can enjoy yourselves!!!!! Great report so far!

I never even thought about this - so English is your second language?? You write so fluent! Hey, maybe write a chapter in French for us! :rotfl:

Good thing you guys can plan a redo (or several) since you live so close. I can not stand lazy people at Disney. And the worst part was, when we were planning, I was constantly asking her "is that too much ? do you think you can handle getting up that early ?" and she said YES all the time !!!

So funny!! I vacationed with my sister a few years ago & said many prayers before we left that I would not have to hide the body before we got home!!! She is alive & well but we are not going any where together anytime soon:)

We were at POP and then CSR. Both resorts with big lakes. You have no idea how many times I pictured myself throwing her in one of them.

jeez this trip seems like a trainwreck, maybe thats really what TR means, your trainwreck report! i applaud you for even making it this long. after not being ready for an early morning ADR i would have simply explained that we are now entering the seperate part of our vacation! hahaha well i can only hope it gets better, but by your title, i dont think so!

Trainwreck report :rotfl:

OMG, your trip sounds very frustrating but so entertaining for those watching from the outside. :rotfl2: I am SOOO afraid this will be me on our trip in Nov. with MIL/FIL who have already announced that they will be napping each afternoon. Can't wait to read more....I think.

My advice ? Let them nap, but do whatever you want to do while they're napping. You don't have to stick to each other all day long. (Too bad I didn't figure that out before we left).

It was so bad you had to book another trip to recover???!!! That is great!!!

Isn't it ? But I gotta be honest, we'd probably have gone back anyway :happytv:

Your trip report is really entertaining, :lmao:

but I'm sorry your sister didn't want to do as much as you'd planned. :sad2:
I never seem to be able to sleep at Disney, I'm just too excited to be there.

Same here. And even if you're tired - who cares ? There'll be time to sleep when you're not at Disney anymore.

As others have said, I feel bad for reading of your unhappy moments. But that's not gonna stop me from seeing how this turns out.

J'espere que tu partageras en plus avec nous sur le DIS.

Merci! Don't feel bad ... it's actually funny now that I think of it. And that I know we're going back without them,of course.

Enjoying your trip report. Your trip report could be a public service announcement for choosing your travel companions carefully.

Especially family!

You couldn't bribe a CM to lock her in there and throw away the key?:lmao:

THERE'S A KEY ?????? Why didn't anyone tell me ???

Okay, You are all just...cute! Even if one of you smells... Thanks for the great report. I so want it to keep on being all happy and just a titch whiney... but I'm afraid it won't last. :goodvibes Thanks for taking the time to entertain all of us!

OMG...this trip report is priceless.....can't wait to read more!!!!!

I'm subbing!

popcorn:: :thumbsup2 great report

wow...this report is great. I can't wait to hear how it turned out (I think...:lmao: )

Seems like some of the day got better. Love the pics!

Great pictures! I also would have voted to leave her behind every day if she didn't want to do anything!

Here I am reading along thinking, "Ok, they got off to a rocky start, but it seems to have really picked up. They got a lot done, sounds like minimal complaining...what could be so bad?" Then, I got to your last line.

I can't wait to see where this goes!

Just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who leaves comments, you have no idea how good it makes me feel to come back from work in the evening and see that people read and responded to my TR !!!!

I can really feel your pain about the late sleepers, on our first trip with DD, DS & DNephew(16) nobody wanted to get up before noon, especially my DN but he had an excuse he had been in a dirt bike accident on the night before our trip & was on painkillers. The rest were just lazybutts & the earliest we ever left was 8:30 for breakfast at Boma, if you feed them they will come.;)
I can't wait to read what happens next.

Great TR! So entertaining. I just came back last week from a 2-week trip to WDW with my sister where I paid and did all the planning. Lucky for us, we're still talking.

Can't wait to hear the rest of your story!

Man, I wish MY sister would pay for me to go to Disney. If you guys want to adopt me and take me to Disney, I PROMISE to behave in the appropriate Disney manner!

So back to POP we go.
On the bright side the bus isn't crowded at all. We all find a seat. Probably because most people don't leave the Magic Kingdom at 1pm. But I disgress.

We arrive at POP and Jess says she wants a sandwich (she has a thing for sandwiches). None of us are hungry, I remind her that we have a VERY early reservation at 'Ohana but she wants that sandwich now. We go along and get drinks. When we're in line to pay I realize that Jessi is not with us. Alex is, with Jess's food.

"Where is she ?? Is she picking up something else?"
"She's tired and went to sit down."

I don't even say anything. What is there to say ? She was sitting for 20mns on the bus and can't even wait in line with us for two minutes to get HER food.

We pay and walk back to our room. Jessi stops to catch her breath  and takes a few pics.

DSC00574.jpg

We wait for them because I suppose, when we get to our room, we're not acually going to sleep right ? We'll just lay down in one of the rooms and chat. The way family does... especially the kind that's been living 7 hours away from each other for the past five years.

Nope. When we get to our rooms, Jess goes straight to the connecting door which she closes, and tells us to wake her up half an hour before we have to leave to go to the "meat on a stick" place (that's 'Ohana, by the way).

I assume that means she doesn't plan on taking a shower before dinner.
Lovely.

Grumpy & I take a walk around POP to look at the fun signs, then end up at the pool. The topic of conversation is, of course, Jessi's laziness.
Usually when we're in the US Grumpy & I talk in English between ourselves but this time we have a vocabulary problem. We found a word to describe Jessi : le boulet. But we don't know how to say that in English. (Do you ??? It's that ball thing they attached to prisoners.) So for once, we're talking French. And people are looking at us funny.

A little girl comes to us and asks us where we're from. She doesn't understand what we're saying and she'd like to know. We tell her. She asks us if that means we don't like Americans and do we eat frog's legs ???
Her mom is mortified but we think it's hilarious. No, we love America and we think most Americans are swell. Grumpy admits to tasting a frog leg's once and hating it. She likes BBQ ribs a lot better.
I have a Hannah Montana necklace on and soon the conversation turns to that, we spend about an hour chatting at the pool with them. Grumpy about Disney restaurants with the mom, me about Hannah Montana and Littlest Pet Shops with the little girl. Unfortunately they're leaving the next morning so we won't see them again.

I think that's one of my favorite things at POP. People are very outgoing and ready to strike up a conversation with any stranger who's wearing a cute necklace :)

We go back to our room as it's almost 2.30 and we have to head out by 3pm to make it to 'Ohana without rushing. First things first we call Jessi to tell her she needs to be ready by 3. No problem. Alex joins us in our room to give her space and to play on my laptop. She hasn't had a computer in 5 years.

3.30pm. Alex, Grumpy and I are sitting on Grumpy's bed. Jessi is not making a sound so I suggest Alex uses her key to get back in the room and see what the heck she's doing.

"She's not even out of bed yet!!!!!"

One thing about Alex. She LOVES food, especially meat. When you live on 700 bucks a month, you don't see a whole lotta meat.
'Ohana had been her top choice, Jessi knew that. Alex had been dreaming about those sticks of steak for months now. WHY couldn't she make an effort ?? If not for us, for the girl she lives with and is supposed to love?

Alex is angry and yells at Jessi to get out of bed NOW. Grumpy is looking her grumpiest. It's my turn to be tired - because that's it, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. We're going to have to put up with this every day.

I don't know why we didn't hop on a cab to the Poly. Maybe Grumpy wanted to save the expense. Or maybe when we finally arrived at the bus stop, the MK bus was there and we got on. It'd be silly to waste money on a cab when the bus is right here.

It's 4.25pm when we reach the boat dock at MK. We're not the only ones waiting there, and when the boat comes, there isn't enough room for everybody. Okay, let's go to the monorail. We just missed one. Our ADR is for 4.40pm. Technically we're not late yet. I breathe. It's going to be okay.

The monorail stops between Magic and the Contemporary.

It'll only be a minute, I'm sure.
Or maybe two.
Five, at most.

When we finally reach the Poly, it's 4.45pm. Yes we're late but they do hold the ressies for 15mns after the actual time so we'll be okay.

There's a LONG line to check in. Apparently the family at the desk is trying to make a reservation and the CM keeps checking several dates and times. It takes forever. There's 3 more families in front of us. Two of them are also making reservations. Why isn't there a separate line for people who actually HAVE ADRs and are late for them ?? And another one for people who are carrying a boulet around and NEED a fun meal tonight.

Jessi is sick of standing in line and she can't stand the singer guy that's in the outside lounge. I don't hate him, but why does he have to sing so LOUD? Jessi leaves us and goes on the other side to sit down. Then she comes back and complains that the guy is giving her a headache.
"Go outside then. Where we came from, where the monorail goes."
"But there's nowhere to sit!!"
"Why don't you give your butt a rest and go downstairs check out the shop?"

She sighs, and goes back to sit. With her hands over her ears. I wonder if the singer can see her. It's my turn to be mortified.

Oh, I see someone coming. It's about time.. we've been waiting in line for half an hour. But no, she goes right in front of us and towards the back of the line, where a group of teens who must be going to Grad Nite at MK tonight are waiting. I have to admit, they look great. The girls all wear bright yellow gowns and the boys are in black tuxedos, black shirts, bright yellow ties and satin belts. If I wasn't so shy I'd ask to take their photo. There's no ritual like that in France. No graduation, no prom. You go look on a list to see if you got your diploma and then you go home. Yeah, we've got the fun thing down like pros.

Anyway, the group is escorted inside the restaurant and we are still waiting.
The girl come back and finally asks me for my name.

"Oh, I'm sorry. We only hold reservations for 20mns. You're welcome to stay, but the wait will be two to two and a half hours."

In case you didn't know, that's the Disney way of saying "No soup for you!".

Julie,are you adopting ?

We found a word to describe Jessi : le boulet. But we don't know how to say that in English. (Do you ??? It's that ball thing they attached to prisoners.)

In English we call it a ball and chain. As in, "I can't go out tonight, the ol' ball and chain won't let me."

JULIE

I feel so bad for you and your mother. How frustrating to have to wait for someone who doesn't appreciate the experience. I have a lazy brother and on several of our extended family trips we have not felt bad leaving him and his family in the dust while we continue with our pace. I think they think I'm a nasty grump but I'm not wasting precious Disney time while they sleep in or take forever to get moving.
I will admit your trip report is hilarious, though. I am anxiously awaiting to see where you get to eat since you missed the Ohana ADR.

Julie,are you adopting ?
LOL! No, I'm not adopting. Four kids is enough!!!

My dad had a stroke 3 years ago and is a total invalid now so my sister quit her job to stay home and take care of him, while my mom goes to work. I live too far away to help out. So taking her to WDW was my way of thanking her for all she is sacrificing for our father. (Well, that and my DH is a stick in the mud (or boulet) and doesn't like to have fun at Disney the way my sis and I do.)

JULIE

Oh No, tell me she didn't make you miss Ohana. I think that I would have had to tell the hostess that I had been waiting in line for 30 minutes & my sister had ACLS so they should take that into consideration and give me my food.:sad2:

I have to say-you are adorable. We just returned from living for 2.5 years in the French region of Belgium (3 hour drive from Disneyland Paris) and I just wish we still lived close so I could meet you in person.

Please update often because I'm loving (is that a bad thing?) your report.

Lisa

If I ever meet the person who first said "ALWAYS LEAVE THEM WANTING MORE" I will make them read the latest installment and then ask "Did she stop where YOU wanted her too?"

I can't wait for the rest of the story....

Seriously???? She made u miss Ohana's? She is lucky you just stopped talking to her for a week. My sister would have come home with battle scars after that stunt. OMG!

I think I would have run up to her and strangled her right there in the Poly if she were my sister!!! I have to say that I am really enjoying your report, can't wait to read more!

Melissa

I hope that you explained to them that you were waiting in line! I will hate it if you guys miss your meal! I'm loving your trip report...we just got back from a Magical Gathering and I understand how frustrating sisters can be. Can't wait for more!

You missed 'Ohana! Because of your ohana....:rotfl: popcorn::

Wait, they didn't let you eat after you were waiting in line for at least 20-10 minutes???? Oh man, I would have soooooooooooo complained!!!! I've never been to WDW but when/if I make it I so want to eat at Ohana, it sounds so good....nothing will keep me from my Ohana ADR. LOL Well, almost nothing.

It's not getting better......
