Trade Secret!

Last week, Ashley finally committed herself to a psych hospital for treatment. "She had convinced herself that she had killed Nikki, and then Ashley saw Nikki very much alive and that freaked her out," explains Eileen Davidson. "She already feels guilty for sending Victor into cardiac arrest, and then what's going on with Colleen just sent Ashley over the edge. She's too tired to fight anymore."

Meanwhile, Adam is terrified that Ashley will realize she's not pregnant anymore and he comes up with a new scheme to cover the truth. Unfortunately, his plan includes an innocent and unsuspecting Sharon!

While Ashley is getting settled in to her new room, Sharon begins having contractions. "She thinks she's just having early contractions, but not going into labor," explains Sharon Case. "The contractions start getting more intense. They're coming on a regular basis and are just a few minutes apart. She's been through this before, so she knows that she's going into full-blown labor. So she gets worried."

Adam calls Dr. Taylor and has him come to the hospital. "Adam is juggling about 12 balls in the air, and they're all about to come crashing down at the same time. He believes in being in the right place at the right time in order to cover your tail," says Michael Muhney.

Ashley is examined by Dr. Taylor and he convinces her that her baby is perfectly healthy. Later, a nurse shows up and asks Dr. Taylor to look after another patient who has gone into labor. "Ashley has no idea that this other woman is Sharon," says Davidson. "She urges Dr. Taylor to go help her. After he leaves, Ashley is comforted by Adam. He always seems to be there when she needs him the most."

Sharon's water breaks. "She feels better that a doctor happens to be there, but she starts to get upset because she doesn't want to have her baby in this hospital," sighs Case. "The baby is coming early, which isn't a good sign, and Sharon has had problems with delivery before. She wants to be in a regular hospital in case something goes wrong."

As Dr. Taylor tries to call an ambulance, Adam tells him that Ashley thinks she's going into labor as well. "Stress is probably bringing it on, but who knows? The mind is a very amazing thing," observes Davidson. "I think Ashley's subconscious is trying to figure out if this baby is real or not, so it's time to prove it. She could've accepted that it was a hysterical pregnancy, but no one is telling her that. I think she's slowly trying to convince herself that there's no baby."

Adam, who saw Sharon in labor, tells Dr. Taylor to deliver Sharon's baby himself. "Adam then sets off a fire alarm and a patient escapes," explains Muhney.

Adam goes back to Ashley and tells her that the hospital is in lockdown. "She tells Adam that he has to deliver her baby," Davidson explain. "He finds Dr. Taylor's bag in the room, so he gives her some medication and she masses out."

Meanwhile, Dr. Taylor looks after a worried Sharon. "She gets upset that she can't be moved," explains Case. "The doctor says everything will be fine because he's delivered lots of babies before. But Sharon is concerned."

Finally, the baby (a little girl) is delivered and Sharon names her Faith. "Sharon is completely exhausted and a little delirious, so she passes out," explains Case.

Down the hall, Ashley wakes up and Adam tells her that she had the baby -- but a nurse came in and took the infant away. "She's starting to realize that something is wrong and she's going, 'There's no baby. I know there's no baby.' She gets up and Adam asks where she's going and she says, 'I'm going to see if I had a baby.' Before she can leave, he says, 'I'll go get the baby.'"

Adam runs over to Sharon's room where Dr. Taylor is holding baby Faith in his arms. "In all the chaos, Adam takes Sharon's baby," says Muhney. "Dr. Taylor is outraged, but there's nothing he can do since Adam is blackmailing him. Adam is really flying by the seat of his pants when it comes to scheming."

Adam takes the newborn to Ashley's room and lays the baby in her arms. "Lo and behold, there's her daughter," sighs Davidson. "So now Ashley's convinced that she gave birth. There's no doubt in her mind."

Unconscious, Sharon is rushed to Genoa City Memorial and asks for her baby as soon as she wakes up. "That's when she's told the baby died," says Case. "Obviously, she gets very upset. It's devastating for her, although this is not the same as when Cassie died. She was a child that Sharon had raised for many years, so losing Cassie is much different than losing Faith. But still, this baby meant a lot to her because it was Nick's and also Cassie's prophecy."

Dr. Taylor tells Sharon that her dead infant had deformities. "I think that's why she ends up accepting the death, but it's still very painful for her," says Case.

Nick goes to the hospital and realizes something is wrong as soon as she sees Sharon. "It's really hard for her to tell him because she didn't want him to deal with the loss of another child," notes Case. "He lost Cassie, Summer almost died and then this."

The grieving parents ask to see their daughter. "Dr. Taylor tells him they shouldn't do that because of the deformities," says Case. "The doctor suggests they do the cremation right away and Sharon agrees without ever seeing her baby."

Meanwhile, Adam and Dr. Taylor work to keep Ashley from being examined by another doctor. Explains Muhney, "It's going to be quite an emotional roller-coaster ride."

Colleen is taken off life support

Tragedy rocks Genoa City this week as Traci takes her only daughter off life support when she's declared brain dead at the hospital.

"It's shattering," says Peter Bergman. "The Abbotts went through this already when John died and was taken off life support. Colleen was just so young. It's devastating, and has been so much loss for one family in such a short amount of time. Jack is trying to stay strong, but he feels guilty because he knows that on some level, it was his feud with Victor that led to all this happening, with Patty coming to town and then kidnapping Colleen. Traci is beside herself. Billy is freaking out. Abby just lost her father a few months ago. And Ashley completely loses it."

Meanwhile, Victor still isn't out of the woods. His doctor tells the Newman clan that he needs a heart transplant in order to survive. Traci is told that she should donate Colleen's organs. "It's not an easy thing for her to even contemplate," says Bergman. "Beth Maitland was heartbreaking in all of the scenes. Traci's just completely overcome with grief."

Colleen's organs are donated and a desperate Nikki appeals to the Abbotts to see if the heart is a match for Victor. "The family is appalled that she'd even ask this," explains Bergman. "Jack hates the idea. Billy is completely opposed to it, as well."

Later, Nikki talks with Jack and reminds him that Victor has children who are worried sick about him. After a heart-to-heart with the ghost of John, Jack tells Traci that they should go ahead and let Victor have Colleen's heart. "He realizes that Ashley is married to this guy and that his niece, Abby, is Victor's daughter," says Bergman. "He doesn't want his family to have to deal with another loss. But it's not up to Jack to make the decision; it's Traci's call."

After talking with Jack, Traci agrees to have tests done to see if her daughter's heart is a match for Victor. Meanwhile, Victor pours his heart out to Nikki and tells her that he still has feelings for her.

I'm glad for the recaps on this board. I'll be tuning out Y&R for awhile. The current storylines are disgusting.

I am so tempted not to watch till the whole Sharon baby dying/baby switch storyline is over with however, it could take years! I don't know if I can stay away that long but I know I'll be FF through all Sharon/Ashley scenes once they go into labor. :sad2:

too bad the powers that be don't read these and other boards - no one is interested in these story lines yet they aren't changing them

they'll lose viewers who may not return- i stopped watching Bold and Beautiful and As the WOrld turns and haven't gone back - been over 3 years now

I am a long-time addict, but lately, I don't find myself really looking forward to watching, and I sometimes have multiple episodes tivo-d and no interest in slogging through them. These story lines are just so ... meh. From the Kevin-rodent storyline, to this Deacon silliness, the Mary Jane weirdness, Lily having cancer and now with Colleen being killed off. I just don't care anymore. I hate to say that because I've loved this show for a long time. It always used to seem classier than some of the other soaps and now it's going in the direction of absurd and trashy.

Oh, and I could have done without the Philip-faked-his-death storyline too. It's absurd and unnecessary. Was it just to bring a gay guy on the show who could partner up with Rafe? And what's with the casting of Chance? No way could that guy be Nina and Philip's kid. He's like 2 feet taller than both of them. When they're all in the scene, it looks like 2 hobbits who gave birth to a full size human.

Just my 2 cents.

I'll go and push play now and watch Colleen die, I guess. :(

I agree, I really dont want to watch another baby switching/dieing thing again. Have seen it to many times in all these soaps. Are they trying to force watchers to leave the show???? I really dont think I can watch that even though I new months back that this was where they were heading and that both would end up in a nut ward with one baby dieing and Ashley claiming it.

Good lord......how the heck are the actors keeping up with all this crap.

I always loved her as an actress, and admired her work on behalf of foster children (she was a foster child herself). But my personal opinion of her took a nosedive this week.

•Nick talks to Sharon who tells him to call Phyllis and ask her to come home. After Nick leaves, Sharon goes into early labor
•Ashley sees Nikki and believes she is losing her mind, she has Jack check her into the psych ward
•Lily visits Colleen and gives her an angel charm. Meanwhile, Jack tells his family that there is no hope for Colleen and the next thing to do is take her off life support, this leaves Traci and Billy devastated
•Nikki and the rest of the family learn that the jerk needs a heart transplant

Next - Colleen's driver's license indicates her as an organ donor; Colleen's family and friends mourn over their loss;

After all the drama with these storylines. I just noticed that we are almost at the magic number of 250 pages. Somebody needs to start a new thread. Maybe with a new thread, things will change with Y&R. :thumbsup2

I'd hate to be the one to come up with the next title. I'm afraid I can only think of dark, depressing and disgusting ones.

Frequent lurker here...seldom poster on this thread (though I read it all the time). Anyway, I had a ...maybe if Mr. Mumbles gets a new heart the blood will begin to flow to his brain and he'll stop mumbling!

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Actually I'm a relatively newish viewer to Y&R. I stopped watching GH because I couldn't stand the storylines and began watching Y&R since it had a good reputation. Now I see it is going the way of all the soaps and I think I may be done. It's really a shame too since I started watching AMC with my grandmother back in the days when Erica Kane was married to Jeff Martin....I even remember when Mary Kennicott was killed on AMC (1975ish) and I was only about 7 or 8 then!

So sad......whatever happened to the good old days of all the soaps :confused3?
