A new rumor!

Ok, I'm back from putting that bar to good use this weekend, and apparently have some catching up to do!

I betcha you're just chomping at the bit to come down and put it to good use.
Are the glasses different colors and do you have the little bamboo umbrellas to go with them?

Yes, yes and yes!! They go really well with the light up palm tree. (and you know I'm NOT kidding)

If you're there when I am, I'll pay you 20 bucks a day to let Mickey stay in a cage under your bar. loveDmouse will probably pay more.

Hmm... this really is starting to sound like a money making proposition. ;)

BTW- The bar is cool! :thumbsup2

Thanks!

You see, Monique?

I told you!

Get your DH busy on the second level of that thing.

Holy crap - who knew? Honey, get out the saw!!!!

... can we talk about something fun and very important, like BradyBz12's mini dinosaur bar. How many of you noticed it?

Tee hee. I was waiting for someone to notice. I won that at AK a couple of years ago playing Whack-a-Dino. Had to beat out a handful of 8 year olds.

Last year I won the giant yellow dino - beat out ALL the 8 year olds AND their dads for that one! pirate:

He would have fit in a crate, but Brady de-stuffed him last week.

The beer and Kungaloosh that the Otters could serve from that thing is amazing!!!

This weekend it was margaritas, rum and cokes, and gin & tonics. I think DH has to take that window above the bar and make it a "take out"

I thought she was just being a very thoughtful camper and keeping her pet dinosaur crated while she was at the parks! :)

Of course - didn't you see the Disney Channel on in the corner?

:dance3:

This is definitely a different flavor on this thread. It's usually the tenters and popup owners that get nailed.
In fact, when the Fort first opened, tents were not allowed. Didn't last long, but they only wanted trailers in the beginning.

that makes many DVC'rs feel superior to the resorts/campground.

Perhaps I'm in a snarky mood today, usually the ribbing about the 3000 loop and its extra amenities is funny. Usually the ribbing about DVCers and their attitudes is funny. But in the past week I'm seeing more comments like this one and they are really starting to tick me off. I am a fort fiend, I love camping and looping and cook-outs with fiends and meeting other DISers, etc etc. On the other hand, I am a DVCer also. I do not feel superior to others!! Nor, do I think that most DVCers feel this way. There are several others on these boards as well. Just because I either could afford to purchase into DVC, or couldn't afford it & took out a 2nd mortgage on my house to spend ALL of my money in MickeyLand, does not make me better than anyone else. If you have met DVCers in person you'd know we love Mickey just as much as everyone else, and we are just as personable and friendly as everyone else. Will I camp in the 3000 loop? Sure, once or twice. After that I'd be missing the fiends too much and would gladly return to my favorite 1600 and 1700 loops. Please judge me for who I am, not for what I own.

These RUMORS about a DVC resort going in and thus ruining the Fort and Bay Lake and the whole BBQ/Trails End, etc moving......this is a freaking RUMOR folks. As in NOT TRUE. Get it??? Ask people who really are in the know. Ask some of us who did private-eye style snooping this weekend and have the pictures to show what is REALLY going on!! RUMORS are false. (I will post the pics this evening after I've finished unpacking and can find the cord to hook camera to computer) In the meanwhile, I'm sure that LornaDuck and AuburnJen can vouch for the falsehood of the 3000 loop rumors.

You know a lot of people that stay in Disney hotels and DVCers think we are cheap trashy campers and shouldn’t be able to stay on Disney property.

I've never heard anybody call anyone a "cheap trashy camper".

You know what I think is funny? That so many people think that those of us who stay at Fort Wilderness do so because we can't afford to stay at a Disney hotel. When in all actuality, many of the people "camping" at the fort are wealthy enough to afford to stay at ANY of the onsite hotels, but CHOOSE to stay at the campground because it's a personal preference! Think what you will, people!!! We LOVE the fort and I have no desire to stay at a Disney hotel ever again!!!

The idea that it's so much more economical is even a little bit absurd. First, we are paying for our 5th wheel (plus the decked out contents), plus the gas to get us there. Then we're paying $100 night for a premium site. Add park tickets, dining plan AND golf cart rental and whoa----adds up quick, doesn't it. Want to stay at the Grand Floridian??? Not me.

You see, I can't return to a Disney hotel room and get my kids cleaned up and in bed (in their own room which allows my husband and I privacy:love:), then go outside and crack open a bottle of wine and listen to crickets with my husband under the stars. But at the fort, I can and I do---every single night! Don't anyone even suggest to me that I could get a room w/ a balcony and do the same thing. It's NOT even CLOSE. And let's not forget the campfire singalongs, watching fireworks on the beach, movies under the stars and deer in your backyard.

Yes, it's sad to say that even our very close friends don't get the camping thing. I've been known to get defensive when they start their "I'd never camp at Disney" speech. But I appreciate the many people who have said, "Aw, let 'em go. More room for the rest of us!" Sorry for the rant, I haven't quite gotten to my happy place and LOVE the fort so much that I'm a little defensive.

Jen go to the Hotel board and post you just camp at Disney you will see

Personally, I could care less that there are some people who think those who camp at FtW are poor and trashy. My monthly payment on my RV would buy me a lot of time at the Grand Floridian. However, I don't want to stay at the GF. I don't want to sleep with bed bugs and roll around in DNA soup. I certainly don't want to rub elbows with people that think because they stay one or two weeks a year at a premium resort automatically makes them superior to me. Most people who camp could give a rat's behind what kind of equipment other people have. We all have a love for camping and the type of people that style of vacationing attracts. Yes, we all ogle over the Marathon's and Prevost's, but seldom have I had an owner of one of those rigs rub it in my face that they have one while I own a Winnie. Disney Donna was probably the wealthiest person I knew who stayed at FtW. She'd be the first person to invite you into her Country Coach (don't bother taking your shoes off), fix you a sandwich, and crack open a beer. You won't find those kind of people at the resorts.

AMEN! When we first got our "Betsy" years ago, some friends of ours camped with us at the Fort in their Prevost. They were in their 60's, just retired and they paid cash for it, and worked hard for 40 years to get to the point to be able to do that. They would never stay at GF because that just wasn't their style. If you had met them at one of the parks, they look like your average Holiday Inn folks (btw, that's where I stay when road tripping with the kids).

Honestly, at the end of the day, I stopped caring what people thought about me back in high school. I'm as happy pulling in the Fort in my truck headed to the cabins as I was headed to a site in my "Betsy". At the end of the day, I'M AT THE FORT!

Bring on whatever they want to build! We'll just work around it, right??? In the meantime, I'm still going to snoop around next month!

What she said. :thumbsup2

Honestly, I'm sorry to say it took me till my mid-30's to stop caring what other people thought of me, and to stop thinking that I needed to keep up with others to be happy. But once I realized that was all crap, and once I started focusing on what truly matters in life, I stumbled upon the happiest period of my life. I really feel I'm living the dream right now, only the dream isn't what I thought it would be when I was younger. It's about God, my wife and kids, family, friends and country. Ain't nothing else that matters.

Well, besides the Fort! :woohoo:

Thank you for getting this thread back on track.

I couldn't care less if someone owns DVC or not.

That's not what this thread is about.

This thread is about whether some type of new resort is going to be constructed in the TCD Ranch/River Country area.

So, you, LornaDuck and AuburnJen have photos or other information that proves this persistent rumor to be false?

Do tell!

I would love to see the photos, but even if you can't post them, please tell us what "is REALLY going on!!"

I sure would love to hear what "people who really are in the know" have to say about this.

Thanks!
