DVC Point Rental Primer

There isn't any way for you to confirm once the travel plan number was modified by the wait list coming through, there is a problem with Disney's system. You either trust the owner or you don't. Maybe the money that you saved renting isn't worth your concern and anxiety, renting isn't for everybody. :goodvibes

I do trust the owner...I was more concerned that somehow DVC or WDW cancelled our reservation! She called MS just to check and they said everything was fine. She also said that the reservation now shows up on her member page as one instead of 2 separate reservations, so I am guessing that when it was combined, that is where the glitch is in the system.
 
Just an update: I did call BWV directly today and the very helpful CM found our reservation under another confirmation number! Apparently, when they combined the two reservations, they assigned a new number. So, we did online check-in and everything is all good (Well, now we really have to run that marathon, but that's another issue :lmao:)

Hi, I'm not sure of the best place to post this, and I couldn't find my answer through search...

I understand we have to pay for the DDP in full when making the reservation through rented points. Is it still possible to add the dining plan when we check in? If not, how late can we add it to the reservation, and is this "frowned upon" when renting points.

Hi Sarah,

The DDP has to be added at least 48 hours prior to check-in, and has to be added by the person you are renting the points from. You also have to pay for it at that time. There are several ways to do that, including a 3 way call to Member Services or sending the DVC Owners Disney gift cards in the amount of the DDP or if you completely trust your owner, giving them your credit card info.

And it is up to the owner, be sure your owner is willing to go through this little bit of a hassle to add the DDP for you.

You may not add it at check-in.

You can also pay through PayPal for a fee or send the owner a check. It all depends on the owners policies for accepting payment.

I am a little unsure in regards to one item:

Should the renter require a printed confirmation from DVC or does an email confirmation suffice? I received an email confirmation today from the DVC Owner but the contracts I read and some posts state a printed confirmation should be received and quotes 2-3 weeks for that to occur?

I want to handle the rental as quickly as possible but want to make sure I am following the best advice. Any help through PM appreciated.

DVC only e-mails confirmations now. In the past they mailed out a confirmation, but that changed a while back.
 
I know this is a stupid question but as I am new to the boards I cant seem to find the information.

Where are the possible rentals put up at? I want to try and do it on my own first before I try and find a service. I have seen the website for David's Vacation Rental but am cheking out all my options. Any help would be really appreciated!

Check for members offering their points on the Rent/Trade board under the DVC Boards. You must be logged in to see them.

We are AP holders. If we rent DVC points should we mention this? Is it applicable to any part of the reservation (i.e. if adding on DDP?).

Also, is it possible to request a room near the Dunes Cove Pool if we rent a 1BR at BCV. I don't see different views on the point chart for BCV and have never rented there before.

Yes, just request a pool view.

DVC members aren't required to purchase tickets to purchase the dining plan. So no need to mention your AP.

If you want the BCV, make sure you have plenty of lead time. It's pretty much totally booked for October, November and December right now. And in the summer time it gets booked up by seven months out at the latest.

Those dates are gone from a lot of the DVC resorts. That's less than seven months out so everyone who wanted something other than their home resort started booking immediately at 7 months out.
 
I know you are new, but DISboards does not allow you to state your dates or resort you are interested in when discussing rentals.

Actually, I edited your post. ;)

Sammie was being helpful and was stating the rule before a moderator edited the post.

We just don't allow info about rentals posted that could be construed as a Reservation Wanted type post, so we edit out specific dates and resort info. Also please be careful, as recently we've had some people contacted via PM offering to rent you points, but once the $ is received, the reservation was canceled and no refund was forthcoming.
