FANTASMIC! Dining, Dessert, Fastpass Thread - Q&A Here

Okay.. this seemed a little too easy...

Just got off the phone with a cast member, conversation lasted for about 4 minutes. I already had a reservation at BB for 8/24 6:20. I asked her since I already had this reservation if I can go ahead and book the F! package along with it. She told me she would just make a note on the reservation and that they would honor it, and we just pay the $65/person at the restaurant, and that was it. Does this sound right?

I would call back and make sure by having them send you an email confirmation. Would not want you getting stuck with a CM at the restaurant who has no access to the 'notes' on your reside. Plus, add in gratuity and taxes...the $65 includes neither.

Thanks for posting!!! YAY! Now I am happy with my RBT, instead of BB. The new Fantasmic menu has a lot more choices than the prior Fantasmic version. There is definitely something on the adult menu that everyone in my family will eat.
I completely agree. I think the menu looks really good for RBT. I'm glad I booked with RBT.

Anyone have opinions on the entree choices?
I've had the Surf & Turf option and it was really good, as is the gumbo. The chocolate hazelnut cake was very rich, but I couldn't really taste the hazelnut.

Will they give you a to go box...my 3 kids will never eat this much!!
Yes, they have to go containers...they're thin lined cardboard boxes that don't always close super-well, so make sure you carry them upright.

Is there typically a different menu for my one under 9 or is it just smaller portions?
Usually, the kids packages are based on the kids menu (e.g., Mickey Check Meals). I'm surprised the blog post didn't list the kids menu, but you can get a sense of what is likely offered based on the kid's PtN dining package menus.

The Sorceror Mickey dessert looks cute! I wish they had posted a picture of the dragon one. As ridiculous as this may sound, which restaurant has the cutest dessert will totally factor into which reservation I keep.

The Hungry Bear option is tempting, but I wish I could get some of their normal food instead. I like their chili burgers. :)

I'm so excited this is back and it's been fun keeping up with all of you booking your reservations today! We don't go until October, so I can't wait to hear reviews! We do the WOC DP just for seating alone, so I'm hoping that those with the dinning will be able to sit - we are short as well and I just can't stand for that long and enjoy myself, especially when I am squished! :crowded: We ate a BB last year for a PTN package and LOVED it - but RBT sounds like it could be fun to - I'll be very interested to see how the viewing works out. Can't wait to see pics and stories! I've never seen F! at DLR and I just can't wait!!

Haha-I agree with you! I totally book based on desserts! The dragon looks interesting, but I'm not a blackberry fan, so don't know if I'd like it that much.

Has anyone ever had luck with substituting another dessert for the starter? For BB, I'm not really interested in any of the starters, but would like both the Mickey dessert and creme brulee!

Really odd they didn't post the kids menus. For us, the kids are the pickiest eaters so we make our dining plans largely on if the restaurant has something they'll eat. I suspect that's how most kids are though.

What are they?
Sorry I don't have great descriptions, I just had her run through them so I could decide if anything sounded worth it, so here's the best I can remember.
Cedar plank salmon
Chicken of some sort. Fried maybe? I wasn't writing anything down, and I knew I probably wouldn't want the chicken.
Blackberry bbq pork niblets
A vegetarian frittata
Everything comes with a salad of sort, involving garbanzo beans. And a drink.
Sorry, that's the best I've got.

I certainly hope so. I had it i my plans for a Wed night...figuring Wed is better crowd-wise than Friday or weekend.
Alghouth we're coming last week in Aug. Not sure when it switches from summer to off season?

Earlier someone said the off season switches Aug 26th. That awkward time between the end of August and Mid September will be interesting to see how many F! showings they have.
I read rumors in an earlier thread there may be some Halloween elements coming?!?! That would be awesome. Maybe not this year though since it is basically brand new.

Just got off the phone with Disneyland Dining. Only 5 minutes hold time today! Yay! Here are some things she told me that they were told, for what it's worth:

1. The reserved section is seated with some standing room in the back.

2. The seat cushions at BB are only offered with the $90 Premium package now (F! FP, MSEP FP, seat cushion, and non-alcoholic premium drink).

3. Answering my own question, she said that they were told for both BB and RBT, reservations before 6:10 will be given FP for the first show and 6:10 and after will get the second show.

She couldn't find any packages for any times on our BB date to convert it over (Sat. 8/5) and told me the same thing about putting a note on the reservation, etc. etc. However, she told me the note wouldn't guarantee the package, it would only be if someone cancels last minute or decides they want to order off the menu and not do the package, which makes sense to me. Has anyone had experience with that? How likely is it for it to come available day day of?

Just made Hungry Bear reservations for Aug 18th. I'll be watching here for more info on the kids menu to be sure we want to do it. :)

Looks like Fantasmic is scheduled every night through August 18th as that is as far as the calendar goes so, lots of opportunities for everyone to see it.

Bummer about the seat cushions! Thanks for sharing the info. My BB reservation is for 6:30pm and says first show, so I wonder what's correct.

I had this exact same experience this morning. Have you called back to ensure all is good?

I did! I spoke with a couple of CMs and one even checked with the Team Lead. They both said that BB would honor the request and that the note they left on my record is all that is needed. I hope this is true because I know things can always not go as planned on the first day and that is the only chance I'll have to see the new show.

If it says it right on your reservation, I'd think they would have to honor it! When I asked, it sounded like she was reading off a sheet or her notes. :confused3 She originally told me the times for BB since that is what we were looking for, but I made sure to ask about RBT because it's not listed on the reservation there.
