I can't do winter anymore!

I live in Canada and there is no where in the entire country you can move for a warm winters unless you leave the country:sad1:

I think Canada seems like a wonderful country, but I could not deal with those winters! We have family in Canada, and they once lived in Goose Bay, and the photos they would send of snow falls taller than their privacy fence...yikes!

Move to Austin & you'll be happy. Well, until you see how expensive it is here...

My parents Winter in Bastrop. They actually picked it because the golf was cheap LOL.

I don't mind Winter, but I prefer it to be BRIEF!

I don't mind the cold. If I didn't have to drive in the snow, I might love it.
Driving in wintery conditions is my biggest stress.

I absolutely hate the cold. Despise the inconvenience of snow, especially after Christmas and have similar anxiety about driving in it. This year I put snow tires on my car for the first time, plus I now work from home full time, so I’m hoping this year will be a bit less stressful.

Not sure where you're located but I'm in the Niagara Falls/Buffalo NY area and while I'm not a huge fan of cold and snow I'll take 7ft of lake effect and wind chills of -30 during a blizzard over areas that are known for numerous tornadoes, hurricanes, or earthquakes any day.

Today its 48 and sunny.
Wednesday night into Thursday its going to be crazy lake effect. If I didn't have to be to a doctor appointment Thursday morning I would not mind it at all.

I don't mind any temp - -30 or 95. It's the "stuff" that comes with it - ice/snow or buckling roads/power outages due to surges.

MN has been so incredibly mild this season...it was 50 yesterday. I am still wearing sandals and capris. I would GLADLY live somewhere that was like this year round (well, I want hot summers...).

We want to move so bad...but are afraid to take the step.

Snow tires definitely help, but being able to work from home is awesome! I bet it will be less stressful for you this year. :)

Yes! I like the change of seasons but not the extreme cold and wind that we get here. The only thing I like is my parka that I finally bought after several years.

Next year will be our last winter here then we are planning to move to a southern city. We will still have the seasons but with more heat and milder winters. I have that city on my weather app so I can compare temps!

I still love winter BUT have no responsibility to clean snow, drive in it, blow leaves, clean gutters and assorted onerous chores. Makes the enjoyment a lot easier:).

Though I don't wish for a blustery, cold, freezing, icy winter, I sure do wish for at least some kind of winter :) Central Gulf Coast of Texas here. We had an extra fan going this morning. I would like it to at least be cold during December. Or the bare minimum during the holidays :) Plus we need it to get really cold to help curtail all the bugs!!

Its not even cold yet and I am sitting here wrapped in a blanket. I no longer drive and am rarely out in the weather and I still hate it.

Youngest DD is a senior in college and DH has retired from his job and is now just working for his insurance until he can get SS in 3 years. Middle DS is moving to FL next month and I keep telling him I am going with him! He will be 2 hours from WDW! I am trying to talk youngest DD to move to FL with his brother and we will follow them!

Driving in wintery conditions is my biggest stress.

I took driver's ed in snow country in January and didn't mind driving in snow til a kid slid into my car during a snow storm. No injuries (except to my car) but it really ruined winter driving for me.

DH and I had to venture north for a funeral last winter, and just a couple of days of the cold and snow were more than enough for me.

Most Canadians couldn't handle winter in Labrador, Happyinwonerland. :rotfl2:We would whine like babies.

Southern Ontario is not all that different than US northern regions. And heck we lie south of some US states/areas. :drinking1

I live in downtown Toronto and I hardly get much snow most winters (hate that, love snow if it is cold). Buffalo is just across the lake/border and gets tons because of lake effect snow. But that's not to say we don't have cold days, we absolutely do ---- just not all that different. The wind makes the complete difference for me. No wind can make it seem warm when it's only 42 degrees (today).

Wind can make any day seem awful in the spring/fall/winter, at any temperature.

I like all 4 seasons including winter. It gives you the opportunity to do the stuff you can't when there isn't snow on the ground like winter hikes, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and taking the dogs out for some winter activities. I prefer snowier winter's to the few dry ones we have had lately. Hibernating for the winter months is a waste of perfectly good time.

I never really got the dislike if winter. Just get the proper clothing and an all wheel drive vehicle and go have fun.

I know what you mean. And it's the minor accidents that bung up traffic and make it nearly impossible to get to work on some days.

Fear has been what has held us back all these years. I'm done being afraid of the unknown , I need better quality of life!

It's been frigid here lately... once it drops into the mid 70s, I've got to pull out the winter gear and suffer through it. Only 4 months of these freezing temperatures to get through... ugh!

It's amazingly how much different the weather can be between short distances.

Don't let that stop you.

Because even your worst case scenario isn't that bad ----

I know expenses can occur, and for some employment issues, but a decision doesn't have to be forever if you feel over time it wasn't a good one.

Fascinating. Well I should say for me , I love weather. There are often a few days, usually in the spring, where Niagara Falls is ten degrees warmer. It's a ninety minute drive.

Extremely short distances too. Like I said I get very little snow downtown. But go fifty minutes north and it's usually a winter wonderland. Heck our city's major highway, fifteen minutes away, is a snow line.

For me, New York City area weather is perfection (besides city wind tunnels!). Four seasons. But you can kiss spring so much earlier. And get more off days of warmth in the fall and winter. :thumbsup2:goodvibes

And this is where I sit on snowy weekdays.
