Things on TV shows that bug you....

My wife watches a lot of criminal investigation shows, so a lot of scenes with police officers, detectives, armed forces, etc. I always get annoyed by two things:

1. When approaching the house of a suspect, the pair of detectives go to the front and the suspect escapes out the back door. Perhaps split up or call for backup?

2. When shooting at a suspect fleeing in a getaway car, they always aim for the windshield or driver side window to get the driver. Why not spray the tires with bullets? Cars don't go very far on blown out tires.

Lol that’s one of my favorite things about Chicago PD. They almost always have someone coming in the back. Usually with a great deal of force and a “gotcha” attitude.

This reminded me of one that always drives me nuts—
Every pregnant woman hunches over in pain and says “it’s time” at their FIRST contraction.
Ha, that's exactly how it happened for me though. First contraction nearly dropped me to my knees and they started at two-to-three minutes apart. I immediately knew I was in labor. I was like, what the hell is happening?! I was told they'd start subtle and increase gradually!

My pet peeve is how ridiculously medical situations are portrayed.

He's having a seizure! Jam a needle into his neck!
She's having an allergic reaction! Jam a needle into her neck!
He's in cardiac arrest! This time let's jam the needle directly into his heart! And hold the syringe with two hands for maximum effect!

I believe that's actual police procedure with the glass. I know one of the specifications for the FBI approving new ammunition is a test against windshield glass.

Kirk, McCoy, Spock, Scottie, and Sulu and some guy in a red shirt are beaming down to the planet. Guess who isn't coming back?

And on that matter, why are you beaming down your entire command bridge crew in the first place?

Because Kirk is a boss and a hands-on leader. Staying on the ship is for Picard and other captains who follow the rules. Kirk and his crew are gonna take care of business personally regardless of regulations.

And if Star Trek were remotely real, they'd be dead and yeoman Rand would end up in command.

People who come out of brain surgery with a full head of hair.
I was shocked recently to see this happen in real life..my husband had a brain bleed in the fall, and they had to remove a part of his skull because his brain was swelling..I was expecting his head to be shaved..nope..they cut straight down the middle, from his hairline, partway down the back, then looped up over the ear..stapled the whole thing back together and still had all his hair except for the line of the incision.
He goes back in next month to get the bone put back in, and I’m wondering if they’ll shave him then.

How about when a couple/family goes rushing out the front door of their apartment or house, but never locks the door behind them?

This does not bug me, but just an observation. The comment about the Boston accent made me think of this.

They use so many British actors for tv shows. It's unreal how many they use and you don't even know that are British until you see them in an interview and they are speaking in their normal accent. The Walking Dead comes to mind. I was blown away at how many of the cast members are British or Australian. Seriously, it's like half the cast. Its the same for Fear The Walking Dead. They pull it off wonderfully, the American accent must be easy to do because you would never know it until you see them in interviews.

I recently started watching The Affair on Showtime. Was reading a review only to find out the main two characters are British. I just wonder if there is a shortage of American actors!

Homes with garages and NOBODY ever comes inside the house via the garage. They always use the front door.

That they are all depressing medical, reality or crime scene types. Boy do I miss variety shows like Carol Burnette, Laugh In~ or just the simple veg out ones like Gilligan's Island, Happy Days, I Dream of Jeannie, Love Boat, Bewitched etc.(I didn't read through all the pages so sorry if repeating another posts, lol)

On Everybody Loves Raymond, the twins were named Jeffrey and Matthew. Later episodes, the twins were Jeffrey and Michael.

In the pilot episode, they were Gregory and Matthew, same as Ray Romano’s real-life twin sons. And the daughter was Ally, same as Romano’s real-life daughter. Supposedly he changed his mind early on, deciding he didn’t want all the same names as his real children. They kept Ally for some reason, but changed the boys to Geoffrey (spelled this way I believe, so the initials would be the same) and Michael.

I love hearing accents and sometimes wonder why they change them at all. And I am always surprised to hear them IRL and find out their accent is nothing like their character.

My favorite, what I thought, was a British accent was Enzo on Vampire Diaries. He isn’t British at all!

Rumple on Once Upon A Time. I think he is Scottish? But very different on the show than irl.
