I love credit cards so much!

If you are getting errors on RMN when trying to link a CC, make sure it is not already attached to a different RMN account. I was trying to link DH's FR to his new RMN account but I already have it on my RMN and I was getting a vague error. But when I tried his CIC, it worked like a charm. So I guess I'll just have to be happy with the $$$ savings and 1x on his CIC.

Yes, can only link a card to one account and once it’s link to an acct, even if you delete from that account, you cannot link to another acct.

I'm sorry if this has been asked or addressed already, but I can't keep up with this thread! I'm just reading up on RMN and starting to collect Disney gcs. On the RMN offer to link Walgreens, Home Depot, CVS, etc, they all say "Excludes gift card purchases." Has this been tested to not be the case? And the $10 off offer actually works for Disney gift cards? Thanks!!
Yep. I bought GCs today and the last few times without any problems. At Walgreen's and CVS I didn't have an add-on item. At Staples, I got some folders that I needed also.

It's a question of logistics right now. Each company while they were separate had a gift card program that used a payment network. I imagine they used different networks, so just swiping one at the other won't work - sorta like if you tried to swipe an AmEx at Costco. Eventually they'll either setup both networks at all properties to take either legacy card, or reissue one set of cards so they can be used at all properties. But usually this is not high on the priority list. Like my Acme Markets has been part of Albertson's/Safeway for a couple years now but I still can't use a Safeway GC there yet. I can use it at Albertsons, Jewel Osco and someone else in the family, and I imagine that's because they were all integrated on one network before and until we're integrated onto the network Safeway is using I can't get discounted GCs for my groceries dang it

You should be able to use at Acme soon!!

Ok - so those interested in my Disney trip and what we're doing here goes...(and a comparison to if I could use URs)...
  • Travel Dates 1/26 through 2/2
  • 4 nights at Beach Club // 3 nights at Polynesian
  • Both in Standard View Rooms
  • Rack Rate + Standard Ticket Price = $5,340 (I could assume a Disney discount here...but that would probably apply to a more expensive room category - essentially eating up my savings).
So if I could use URs this would cost 356,133 UR points through my CSR. (You could potentially assume that through some Disney discount I could save 25k-35k URs by applying the discount AND upgrading my room category - so best case scenario I spent 320k+ URs for the trip).
  • My all in booked cost through TA = $4,500 (for rooms + tickets). Right here I've now saved $840
  • I can pay for this with Disney Gift Cards.
  • I usually can procure those with a 12% discount through my grocery store so that's a savings of $540 on the full $4,500 worth of GCs.
  • I will take the upgrade offer on the AMEX BCE to an AMEX BCP - that will clear $155 an upgrade bonus + 6% on gift cards purchased at the grocery store on $2,000 in purchases. That's a savings of $275.
I still have $2,500 worth of gift cards to purchase...we'll hit on that one in a minute...This brings my NET trip cost down to $3,685
  • I could cash our 368,500 URs to totally offset that cost.
  • Now let's talk about the last $2,500 in GCs. I can apply for a CIU card which has an MSR of $3,000. I can use that card on the $2,500 remaining GCsa and that is 83.33% of my MSR Sooooo let's attribute 83.33% of that bonus value to this trip. 50k URs + 4,500 URs (base) = 54,500 URs...83.33% of that is 45,417 URs I will replenish as a direct result of purchasing those GCs.
So I cashed out 368,500 URs...I earned back 45,417 URs...I NET used ~323k URs which BEATS the 356k URs in my "no discount" scenario AND comes VERY close to my "best case discount" scenario which cost approx 320k URs.

Even if I didn't go for the CIU card and put all $4,500 on the BCP @ 6% cash back, I could still get my NET cost down to $3,535 and only use 353k URs to offset the cash cost.

Obviously my big benefit here is the ability to acquire Disney GCs at a 12% discount through our fuel perks program.

Hopefully somebody finds this exercise to be remotely worthwhile...if not, I enjoy math so no worries, LOL!

I appreciate this. It’s helping with my grieving process. lol Idk if I’ll be able to get Disney giftcards at 12% off but 10% off should be fairly easy. Wholesale clubs and using a 5% card. I’m also going to start paying attention more towards these Amex and RMN deals for giftcards.

Yeah and as @Lain said this is likely a lot of speculation on both sides right now.

The unfortunate thing is anybody who was planning to book Jan/Feb trips with the discounts coming out in 2-4 weeks are caught in the middle of this. I'm engaging my Agency Exclusive rep and assuming to move on without the UR benefit for now.

Watching Disney closely, ive started to see a trend of Disney trying to do everything profitable in house now. This could be one of the pushes they are trying to make in preparations for star wars land. Whatever that is not profitable, they push to outside companies.

Profitable in house move - Netflix. Netflix used to host all of Disney's Movie. I dont have netflix but i was told Disney movies were pulled from netflix and now Disney has their own app that has all the Disney movies in it.
No profit moving out - a lot of cast member's services have moved out to other companies. CM dining areas were in house. now its run but Sodexo.

Question, now that I have 2 charge cards with AmEx and they don't have a credit limit tied to them, how does that impact your credit score? Will it consider that you are 100% utilization on that card? Should I expect my credit score to take a hit?

u are correct, the utilization wouldnt matter no more... i was told there is a limit, you would need to push to see what that limit is haha. i do recall seeing a soft limit of 30k on my card though. i could be wrong.

So after I posted that, I actually made a frustrated, last ditch effort to get my points. It took about an hour, but I got a supervisor on chat and they said that they will be giving me the bonus. Should post in 7-10 days. We will see.

I have been away from this thread all summer and see that there have been a lot of changes, but I don't think I have the will to go back and see everything that has transpired. If you don't mind, could you recap major Chase changes beyond the no double dip and no UR on Disney? I never used either of those things, except buying Disneyland tickets once, so not sure if there is anything else in your "death of so many good things from Chase" that I would be too upset about. Thanks!

Ok I'll put Amex back to neutral until we see how that turns out. If you get the points then they deserve the love :)

Nothing by itself that's been so terrible but when you stack them up all together in a short period and if you got hit by multiple, makes for a very down month.

I'm not as good as some on keeping track of people's cards, but the Sapphire bonus changed to 48 months since receiving the last bonus. There's 2 options left if you wanted the bonus but got the bonus in between 24 and 48 months - finding someone with an emailed support link that still has the 24 month language, and being targeted for a pre-approval offer on the CSP (there's one out there with 24 month language) So small chances if wanted but doable for a couple weeks while we have a hook up on the thread.

The other nerf is CIP earning 3x through Plastiq, that's gone for about a month now. Not sure if you ever used yours with that.

Bonus points posting on all Chase cards had been delayed. All bonuses since 2nd week of August weren't posted on that statement like expected. Couple reports that it may be back to normal, but still waiting on the backlog. Speculation this may happen more frequently as Chase wants to control the expense of redemptions, and may slow down points delivery to help that. (Like they were waiting to post bonuses until it was on q4 sheets to make the numbers better, which is plausible as well as an IT glitched)

The ugly rumor about no points transferring between cards surfaced again, most likely out of frustration with the quick changes, but given their swift changes we may see something sooner rather than later.

More cards will be subject to the 5/24 rule. The changes to the SW cards so can only have one like the Sapphires. Like I said nothing too terrible individually, but enough that it can change your plans if you were relying on any.

Did you end up deciding to use the Marriott cert for this stay?
no, we are staying at the doubletree. It is across the street from the lift. It has 2 king beds and a sleeper sofa for 60k hilton a night/5th night free.
The residence Inn I was looking at requires a shuttle or walking several blocks with ski equipment. And it is a cat 5 and I haven't tried upgrading my cert but I am guessing it isn't gonna happen.

Dolphin's a Sheraton and Swan's a Westin - so they're both excluded from the Marriott/RC cards, from what I can tell.
and THIS is what I'm confused(and concerned) over! How can the company merge, decide they're all marriotts, except they're not? I'm struggling to understand wth this all means (that's heck:rotfl2:)[/QUOTE]
Exactly. I’ll just save my Lux credit for my Swan stay and not buy a Marriott GC.

I remember that from the Xmas party thread last year. I also remember the people who eventually started having their FPs cancelled out from under them after doing something like that. I’m sorry I don’t remember more but personally I would do a lot of research into how this went last year to make sure you’re gonna be ok.
That was different. What you are mentioning is if you book 5 park days plus a party in Fps but you only have a 5 day ticket plus a party ticket.
