Wonder from New Orleans in 2020?

Would it be crazy to book the cruise now and then closer to the date when we really know if we can do it (I might be really pregnant at the time if things go according to plan and wouldn't be able to sail) Disney has refundable deposits right?

Yes...not only is it NOT crazy, I would advise to do it and I'll probably do the same even though I know the chance of me actually taking it are slim. The best price you are going to get is the day it open to book. I still havent seen the pricing yet but my window opens I think on Wednesday

Well, yes to refundable deposits as long as you're not sailing concierge.

I’m really surprised that we are not seeing more quotes come in for that 2/21 cruise during Mardi Gras break. I expect every Disney fan in Louisiana to be all over that like white on rice.

But low initial demand = better prices for me tomorrow.

I looked at doing the 2/27 4-night to Cozumel. An 11C interior for 2A 1C was over $2,700.

I sailed on the 9/20 Magic to Quebec and got the online follow up survey. It was the one asking potential interest in themed cruises. One of the options was a family-friendly Mardi gras. I can't remember if that option had been on prior surveys.

Love NOLA, an awesome city. Great food!!. We're booking this week. We're 4 1/2 hours away so very convenient. We haven't been on the Wonder in years. Can anyone give us their opinion or advice for the updated Wonder? Trying to decide on Verandah vs Concierge Verandah. We have traveled concierge before but unsure if its worth it on the Wonder and for this itinerary. We don't know the prices yet but expect ~ $1500 - 2000 difference. Are the the concierge vs non-concierge verandah rooms different?.

We did a little searching the prices today (yesterday) and it looks like the difference between the Cat 4 and Cat V for most of the NO cruises are around a 2,000 - 4,000 difference.

That is based on 2A.

I already have a Fantasy W. Carib booked this coming March. It was not booked on opening day, but rather about nine months out. It is seven days on a newer ship, does include a day at CC and is a SWDAS.

Two adults in a 5C = $4703.

I just got the quote for the Mardi Gras cruise on 2/21/20

A Cat 5D for two adults = $4540.

That’s as a Gold, booking on Gold’s opening day. The cruise is one day less, on one of the older ships, includes no stop at CC, and has no special event equivalent of SWDAS. And it’s only $150 cheaper. Crazy.

I havent seen the pricing yet but I am going to bet that there is a better value in the 2/14 sailing

I am the white on rice! Just booked 2/21 out of New Orleans; 2A/2K (14,14) Cat 4A- $7,820.64. That's rather expensive, but we do have over a year to pay for it.

With NOLA port being within 1 hour driving distance for me; I thought this would be a huge win for my family. However after looking at pricing and stops; I am having a hard time convincing myself that paying that much for a cruise that does not include Castaway to be worth it. Guess it will be back to PC for us. Good Luck to all of you trying to plan that perfect vacation.

I hear you. I am trying to convince myself that the savings in travel time and expense (i.e., saving a day or two of PTO getting to/from PC; no airfare/gas expenses getting there, no hotel dining expenses while there the night before the cruise, etc.) still make this cruise worth it.

I'm still suffering from a bit of sticker shock, but I ended up putting a deposit for the 2/7 cruise out of NOLA for myself and two GFs.

I reserved the 2/27/20 4 night cruise out of New Orleans - 2A1K(15) Cat 10A (Secret porthole) $2927 with taxes; no insurance/trans. My initial excitement died down when I realized I WILL NOT be visiting Castaway. I too, am thinking the same about making the trip to Port Canaveral as usual instead. I also have to remind myself that during Mardi Gras season the ship may not be able to dock at Castaway. I always travel during Mardi Gras because it used to be less expensive and nice weather for Castaway is usually 50/50 hit or miss. On my last cruise it rained most of the day. The one before that it was too windy to dock as scheduled. The Captain tried twice without success on our scheduled day. He decided to approach later that night parked the ship overnight and we were allowed off the ship the next day instead. He was my hero!!! Who's gonna save me now? I did not put down the deposit yet and I have until 10/05/18 just before midnight to change my mind. From the lack of opening day quotes for this sailing, I don't think the 2/27/18 Wonder will be filling up fast. I was surprised that I was able to get the first Secret Porthole room (one of the two least obstructed ones) I asked for when booking in the afternoon on 10/02/18. To the list of concerns, I have to add my DS will be missing school on the day of debarkation. I know he would just feel terrible about that, LOL!
Please let me know if you come up with more selling points to sail out of NOLA
