**November 2019 check in ***

Add me! DH and are taking the kids for the first time Nov 5&6! They're turning 6 (DD) and 4 (DS) in late November so hopefully good ages for a first trip. Staying at Cortona Inn & Suites (because we want a separate bunk bed room for the kids). We're planning to do one day at DLR and one day at DCA. I grew up in SoCal so have been to DLR many times (although the last time was before DD was born). Looking forward to seeing DCA especially Cars Land!

I will also be flying from SEA to SNA on Nov 12th with my son, DIL and 5 year old twin grandkids. Unfortunately we start the trip at PDX, but that is the way airline miles work sometimes. I have never been during the winter season and I am really excited about seeing the holiday decorations and entertainment. I am just not sure what I should pack to wear. Anyone else going in November have any insight on this? Shorts and sandals? Jeans and sweatshirts? Will the kids be able to swim in the afternoons?
I’ve needed shorts in the day. Jeans at night. Sweatshirts and gloves at night. It depends on the year! Watch the weather sites before you leave.

I went in November of last year and it was mid to high 80s during the day and mid to low 50s at night. If that's cold to you, bring a sweatshirt or something. I live in the PNW though so 50 is beautiful. I had a t-shirt and jeans on and it was perfectly fine the entire day. At night, shorts might've been a little cold, but still I would've been fine. I much prefer the cold anyway.

Hello everyone! After a very tough year, I am happy to say we will be visiting DL November 22-28. Staying at our favorite off-site hotel - the Candy Cane Inn. Looking forward to all of the holiday decor and yummy food! :-)
We love the Candy Cane Inn! Our trips overlap a bit, but we're staying around the corner this time so we can share a suite instead of having to get 2 rooms. We're saving that money for WoC Dessert Party and Blue Bayou for Fantasmic! Be sure to re-check the hotel website from time to time - I just did this yesterday and I got our reservation lowered by $350. :) I hope you have a WONDERFUL trip! It'll be the perfect way to shrug off a tough year!

I paid the balance for our vacation today! Woo hoo! I love pre-paying for the tickets and room so that all we have to worry about is food when we get there. Only 89 days! And only 1 more month until dining reservations open up, which means it's even less time for most of you. Who's starting to get excited?

I’m getting really excited now that we are a few months away. For those of you on the East Coast with younger kids, how do you manage the time difference? We aren’t in CA for long so I’m not sure I want to get them on Cali time, but I’m also a bit sad they may miss the awesome night shows.

I’m thinking of doing the the Chef’s counter at Napa Rose on our DL day, but I probably wouldn’t make the later seating and therefore the kids would be back at the hotel most likely asleep by 5. Any ideas If they can still enjoy some of the holiday things earlier on in the day?

I’ve been excited for months. 🤣

My reservations open next week. 🎉

How old are they? It’s just not worth it to me to change up sleep schedules. *So hard* to get back to normal. That being said, maybe you can start adjusting a little at home. What are they going to do at 4 am in Anaheim? 😂

ETA The parks are the best in the morning. So, them getting up at 6 For a 7 am magic morning would be perfect!

6, 4, and 2 and we are only there for our school break so 4 days total and no Magic morning. I am positive we will be awake at 4am in the morning which I can handle...I guess just sad they will miss the night stuff. That’s ok! We will have future Disney trips.

Last trip mine were 2&3. There’s just no way in the world we can swing night stuff and enjoy the parks when they’re awake (our time difference isn’t so extreme!). Quality over quantity. 🤣 Ours have special needs though. We were in the parks about 5 hours total a day. One couldn’t live without naps and the other just needed a little quiet time. When we go back with the kids next summer I am prioritizing getting in the parks when they open. I felt at their ages back then that they needed to stick with their schedule.

Hi everyone! Now that summer is over I’m ready to plan our November trip, so I’m joining in:) DH, DS14, DS13 and I will be at VGC Nov. 23-39. We’ve gone in Nov several times and also during Thanksgiving. During Thanksgiving week is does get crowded, but usually until noon. That’s when the POC line runs into the HM line😱 We usually rope drop, get lots of rides in (SM, ST, Buzz, Materhorn, some FLand rides, SplashM, HM, then grab a BTMRR fastpass, sit for our Cafe Orleans lunch 11:30 ressie and watch the influx of guests). Then leave the park, nap/swim. Come back after 5/6pm to see what fastpass we can get, dinner or snack and watch a nighttime show. Same for DCA. It’s all doable because this was before maxpass. Can’t wait to be back at DL, it’s been a while and we missed it😍

Hello! My family (me, husband, 3 and 5 yo sons, baby daughter) are heading to the park from Nov. 5-Nov. 8, staying at the PPH. Husband and I lived in SoCal years ago and had season passes in 2011-2012, but this will be our first time going with our kids, and our first time spending more than one day in the park!

I’ve been lurking/doing searches here for a while and have figured out most of what I need to know for our upcoming trip (love this board!), but there are a few things I can’t quite figure out.
  1. Our older kids are really looking forward to It’s a Small World, but from what I gather, it will be getting its overlay and will only be open the last day we’re there (Friday, the first day of the holiday season). We don’t have park hopper tickets and were planning to be in DCA this day since that’s when they have EMH (although sometimes that changes, I guess?). I think our best bet would be to upgrade our single park pass to a park hopper for that one day, but how do we do that? At the ticket window the day of?
  2. Am I right that it’s unlikely that there will be fireworks on any of the nights we’re there, since it’s an off time and we only have weekdays? Does that apply to Fantasmic and WOC, too? This trip is for our 10th anniversary, so I was hoping to surprise my husband with a dessert party or other reservation and a babysitter for one night—hopefully there’s something fun available!
  3. Our 3-yo is currently about 38.5” with shoes on. We’re hoping he has a growth spurt in the next few months to get him to that magical 40” number, but barring that, any tips or tricks there? Are they 100% sticklers about height in the park, or would they give us a break if he’s .5” under?
Thank you in advance for any help!

They are 100% sticklers for height.

You can only get a park hopper for your whole trip. $50 extra each? I don’t know if you can upgrade in the app. If not, you can upgrade at the ticket booth.

If you haven’t bought tickets yet get a free code for last minute travel club online. They’re usually the cheapest.

WOC usually happens every night.

Upgrade to park hoppers! It is the same price for all of the days. You will need / love the flexibility. well worth the cost !
Yes, sticklers about height..... it's a safety issue

Oh interesting, I can't upgrade to park hopper for just one day? We already have tickets (bought through the DL website with our hotel package). We really only need hoppers for that one day, since our kids are little and aren't able to walk long distances, so we were planning to stick to one park each day. I'd hate to pay an extra $200 just for that one day when we wouldn't use hoppers otherwise.

Thanks for the info on WOC! Hopefully the reservations open up right at the 60 day mark. I'll be watching closely next week.

Yeah, I suspected they'd be strict about the height requirements. I'm thinking maybe we try to coach my son before we go, though, because he tends to slouch and doesn't always respond well when people tell him to stand in a certain place. Even if he is barely 40" tall when we go, it might not seem like it. Maybe we can create some kind of mock height bar for him to practice with.

Why don’t you making that the opposite park day? Is it for the early morning hour?

Yeah, we're planning to take advantage of EMH every day, since our kids are generally up at 5:30 anyway and they'll be falling asleep by 6 pm. I'd switch around our last two days, but that means we'd miss out on two EMH (one of the main incentives for booking a hotel on property!).

I'd normally be okay skipping the EMH for just the last day, but that would mean we spend 3 of our 4 days in DL and only one at DCA. Our kids are HUGE Cars and Toy Story fans, so I know they're going to want more time there.
