DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Morning Guys,

Off to visit my parents today but back tomorrow because DS has to work. I knew he would be handy for something.

Light dusting of snow here this morning but shouldn't be enough to make a difference in the drive.

Have a good one all.

I'm not sure I will be able to catch the game today, but I may wake up early enough to see some of it.

You missed it, it was yesterday.

Saw ROS last night. Enjoyed it, but there were a couple of parts I wish had been different. Wont discuss since I don't want to spoil.

We saw it last night as well, enjoyed it and not a big enough Star Wars fan to get bothered by what some people don't like.

I think she ordered the southern Canada version, and I started sweating immediately as I put in on.
:lmao:
She exchanged it for a KY winter coat, which is warm enough for here.

DW ordered me a Lands End winter coat one year. I think she ordered the southern Canada version, and I started sweating immediately as I put in on. She exchanged it for a KY winter coat, which is warm enough for here.

In the context of the Disney Christmas parade - at WDW or DL and warm - all of our Christmases don't look so great.

Then again, if you've been in MK at park capacity, you'll wish you weren't there. Had that one time when Disney wasn't prepared, and it wasn't fun. It was an October in Fall Break, a Disney Cruise had just returned to port and brought people to WDW, MK had 3 MNSSHP that week. It hit capacity, extra park hours were added, and there was chatter over CMs radio to get people to work extra shifts.
That's pretty insane, hearing that over the microphones would make me laugh for sure. I've never been there in full capacity, we usually go during the cooler season. However we have a trip planned for August this year and I"m sure that's going to be insane

Afternoon guys. Big clear up in the house today, we started to get on top of the present piles. The next 2 days we have nothing at all on, which is a welcome break from 3 birthdays, 3 xmas events on both sides of London and me opening 30 shops across the planet, so we plan to do absolutely naff all. We have dinner a of cold meats, pickles and poutine, and are watching a double header of infinity war and then endgame.

We saw Rise of the resistance, and I'm in the same camp as Darcy, enjoyed it but don't really care about the plot holes apart from one, but I'll get one of you to explain it to me in a few weeks when we can talk about it.

Oh, and if anyone is partial to British chocolate, by all means drop in, it seems I have just shy of a metric ton of it.

Have a good day boys

First night shift was ok, just tired. Kept drinking tea for caffeine (I don’t do coffee). And it was weird being in my office building alone in the middle of the night.
I really didn’t miss a lot of my usual Christmas stuff. I really do consider myself fortunate given the industry I work in where people regularly leave home for weeks at a time.
That's really nice you were still able to be there for Christmas, I know you were worried about it. If you don't mind me asking, what industry are you in where you ended up alone in an office overnight?
Man I had such a great time. And it was a great movie.
SAME! I'm thinking about going to see it again, I had a great time
You’ll come to love that.
I think this depends on the person. I work remotely and after about 3 months of being alone at home I started to get really depressed. Now I'm paying for a coworking space membership so I have an 'office' and can socialize during the day. Sometimes I also go to a coffee shop just to be around some people
We are seeing that in a few hours.
Hope you enjoy it! Let us know what you think
I hope you're able to. Most things with computers can be done remotely, but most likely employers and too stupid or to controlling to allow it.
It can be really great to work remotely, but it has it's own challenges. I really miss my old setup of having an office, but only going in when I felt like it. That was pretty much perfect

Do you mean Rise of Skywalker, or the Resistance ride at DW?

If you mean the movie, I agree there were some weak points, but overall I think it's the best movie out of the new trilogy

I meant the movie. I really can't remember much about the other 2. I'm not a big fan of SW generally, I think they are OK movies when they are good, but woeful when they are not. But each to their own, I'm sure many people don't get going to Disney as much as of we do as a group :rolleyes1

Happy Friday. Debating on going to SW movie today. I'm enjoying the downtime right now though.

I hope you're able to. Most things with computers can be done remotely, but most likely employers and too stupid or to controlling to allow it.

I could work from home the majority of time. It's just about control and bad management. They would rather pay rent for a remote office location than give me the money.

I always thought about going at Christmas or Easter. After that experience, I never plan to try.

Sounds good. I'm in the car and driving over.

My favorite part has always been the jedi/ force/ lightsaber battle. Space flight sounds fun, but I never cared about the Skywalkers or who was who's dad. At WDW, I like the Star Tours scene with Vader in it. All thr rest are just ok.

I want to see you eat it all.
I don't know anyone who weighs a ton.

I can see that. But when you're always surrounded by people, and an introvert... the night shifts are a nice way to relax... not from work, but from socializing. But if you never see people... yeah, I get how that'd be a drag, real quick.

You missed it, it was yesterday.
Yeah I figured that out after when I saw the score on the news (which was Canada 6 - USA 4, for the record and benefit of our American friends).
With this night shift thing this week, I barely know what day of the week it is. Even if I had thought about the game, I had promised DD I would watch a Christmas movie with her.

I have yet to see it and probably won’t until I get my week break in January.
I’m a Star Wars fan but I don’t get my panties in a knot over stuff and I didn’t think The Last Jedi was that bad.

Oh, and if anyone is partial to British chocolate, by all means drop in, it seems I have just shy of a metric ton of it.
I’ll be over.
I just need to travel by map.

f you don't mind me asking, what industry are you in where you ended up alone in an office overnight?
Oil. It goes 24/7/365, wells are always being drilled and significant numbers of people go away from home for weeks at a time, which is why my new situation is actually pretty good in the context of the oil industry. Outside the industry it probably sounds bat shirt crazy.
The jobs I’m monitoring right now are being drilled in Texas, Colorado, and North Dakota. The data from any well my company drills is sent to Houston and then I just remote in to those computers. So the location where I actually sit and do the job is kind of irrelevant. But as I said it never shuts down, hence working night shift alone in an office on Christmas Eve.

For now I’m enjoying the change of working alone. Since I’ll be switching between nights and days, it should be a good balance of not seeing people and having to put up with people.

Morning, gents.
One more hour to go, then home for a nap and then hitting the road with (most of) the fam to the U.S. of A.

Look how smoothly you've already fit in!
No shift worker anywhere ever knows what day of the week it is.

Ditto

Sounds about right. ::yes::

Happy Saturday everyone! Getting a little bit of work done, as I need to verify something in production. Then going out with DW to do some post Xmas shopping, hopefully finding a tree. And we have a get together with some family tonight. It should be a good day

Happy Saturday. Drove up to visit my parents for the last of the family Christmas visits. Now, home for UL vs UK basketball. If you're looking to commit a crime or go shopping, now is the time. The whole state is glued to the game. UK fans, especially the ones who never went to the school, feel this is their team and they are integrally a part of the coaching staff.

I may way close to a metric ton, if I knew what that was.

I worked 3rd shift for 3 years, but never rotated. The worse part for me was waking up when it was 6 and dark and trying to figure out if it was time to go to school or work. That was before cell phones when the dinosaurs roamed the earth.

We've had the same fake tree now for around 18 years. DW gets saying we need a new one, but I'm not sure why that's needed. It's still fake and covered in lights and ornaments. Have fun shopping.

Have great trip buddy
Well if you can call driving an hour and a half in a snow storm and white knuckles on the steering wheel... then sure.
Saw 4 cars in the ditch (1 upside down) but we weren’t one of them... so... guess it’s good.
I may way close to a metric ton, if I knew what that was.
Subtract 30 then divide by 2

That was a big win!
