I can’t believe I’m even considering it. I will for sure need to put limits on it, like weekends only when school is in session. Otherwise DS would play 24/7. But seriously months more of shelter in place likely and I’m bored already. Reading and going outside only goes so far. Looking for stuff we can play together.

We still just have a WiiU, and I like the active games. My boys play a lot of the games my girls played when they were little like Fishing Resort, Mario Cart, Mini-Golf and Go Vacation. We normally limit their time to only 30 mins per day and only if they earn it but we've been giving more time each day. We're doing school, playing board games, reading books, doing puzzles, riding bikes, going for walks but sometimes, mama needs a nap and the Wii keeps them entertained and gives me a break. I think it's fine during this time to let them play a bit more on their devices. Maybe I will come to regret it but we aren't living in normal times and nothing about any of this is normal.

I've wondered about having gift cards for stores that may close as well. I didn't end up using my 10% off Staples offers because of that. We don't have any Disney trips in the near future, so I was getting restaurant cards with my $30 off $100, but just never pulled the trigger for the 10% off ones because I didn't want to be out the 90% in case the place I chose went out of business for some reason.

I haven't used very much of my Lowes 10% on my SPG Biz but it's good until 6/30, so can make up time later. My Staples offer is being used little by little, and I'll probably do Disney Gift cards with whatever remains. I don't see Staples or Disney going under but who knows? Bigger cats have fallen. In actuality, I wonder about Home Depot's pecuniary ways - maybe they are on the edge when they start being careful. Lowes will give a discount at the drop of a hat - Home Depot is different.

I’ve slowed waaaay down on gc as well. For Disney, I definitely don’t want more now as my year of trips is totally in limbo. For restaurants, I’m just not spending like I was- well... I lie. Lol. Starbucks is getting a bit more business from me than before. But most of my eating out as been cut back and in this time of uncertainty I don’t want gift cards sitting around. The what if is too much.

I've got a few hundred. Not going to get too excited about it, but happy that Cheesecake Factory extended the free slices that I bought last year. I had 4 and seem to be 3 left. They came through again good until June 30th. I also have some CF gift cards but maybe $50-$75. And a few more, such as Darden, and some Cracker Barrel for my road trips.

I wouldn't worry about Home Depot. My DH works there and business is going great. They are treating their employees AMAZINGLY, closing stores early, limiting number of people coming into the stores, suspending spring sales, bringing in lunch every day, giving them all an extra 2 weeks of sick time, weekly bonuses, double time pay, giving them thermometers, etc. All workers including managers are wearing signs that say "stay 6 feet away", and they are able to downright tell the customers to "get back" so as to keep 6 feet distance. And did you know Home Depot's revenue is actually 50% more than Lowe's overall? (If you don' believe me, google it!) Although you may think Lowe's is the big dog here, it's not. I can tell you, my DH's store in particular has done as much sales in the past week as they usually do in 2 months. They made 3 million on Saturday alone, in one day!
Lowe's on the other hand, is not closing stores early by us. They are still sending out sale flyers. In fact, they are having their big "Spring sale" this Saturday and Sunday. I can only imagine how many people will crowd out the store this weekend. So much for social distancing!!

I'm waiting for the IRS to release the terms of the stimulus bill . all others are a interpretation and at best a educated guess . the info I have read or heard about the unemployment boost is in my opinion incorrect .

You may be right. You can always go to IRS.gov and get your own interpretation as information is released. Let us know what you come up with and we can weigh all opinions.

I went and got our free slices before the end of March and just put them in the freezer. We are still sitting on $50 in gcs for CCF and several hundreds of dollars in gcs for other restaurants. I've got Chilis, Applebees, TX Roadhouse, CFA, Sonic, DQ, panera, Starbucks, Red Lobster, Melting Pot, Outback and several local places. My dd also has a ton of gcs that we (and others) gave her for Christmas for her to use to eat out down at Disney - mostly places that were around the CP housing (Wendys, CFA, Panera) but also some for places in DS.

Our HD is always way busier than our Lowe's. They sit almost right across the road from each other and we frequently will stop in at both to compare tile samples and prices or whatever we are DIY'ing at the moment. HD is always packed. Lowes is usually busy but never seems packed.

Great to hear! I have had small service issues with this company in the past, so that may color my judgement. But then, I've not always loved Lowes either. I still go back to both.

But still happy that your husband is having a positive work experience during this event.

I saw a lot of FB posts complaining about our Lowe’s this weekend. People said it was packed. Whole families just browsing, people walking their dogs, and just general craziness.

Do y'all think my dd would be eligible for unemployment since she lost her 'job'? I'm just not sure if having an paid internship qualifies. She was under contract with Disney to work until Aug 6. Now that she is home and is caught up on rest, we've considered having her try to find a job but I'm a bit hesitant with her more fragile health to send her out right now. But she still has expenses and she was left out of the stimulus package so was thinking maybe she should try for unemployment.

Yeah, you've definitely got me beat! I could easily use up the stock I have in a few weeks.

That's funny, it's the same way for our area too. The HD my DH works at is right across from Lowe's, although the Lowe's always seems much busier. The biggest complaint he gets is people coming over from Lowe's and telling him "You can't find anyone to help you over there!"

Thank you. Although it's kind of scary working in retail/food service/grocery stores or any other "public" space right now, I am happy with HD's efforts to protect their own.

Yes, it's happening at our Lowe's too. Unbelievable! My DH said people were coming into his store (HD) also to just "hang out". Now they're limiting the amount of people in the store, and limiting to only 2 people in an aisle at a time even!

Well the Shipt order went okay I guess. We used target and a lot of stuff said (and still does on the app) in stock but he texted me saying they weren’t in stock. So we ended up spending more than normal like paying $4.50 per gallon of milk but that’s all they had for skim milk. He did put cheddar sausages in there when we ordered cheddar brats and the sausages were $2 more per package. Not a huge deal but I have a feeling I won’t like them because they’re sausages and not brats. He also didn’t ask me to do this just made the substitution on his own. Everything else he was quick to let me know what other options there were. Dh is disinfecting everything in our garage and I’m going to clean the fruit in the sink.

In the long run, it was probably still better than going to the store so I’m grateful it was an option

I stated awhile back that my parents work at a local lumberyard. We skyped with them last night and my mom said customers aren’t caring about the 6 ft rule at all. That makes me nervous because she works with customers all day. She helps them pick out paint and stuff. It’s a small town and they’ve already had lots of positive tests and 3 deaths so I’m not sure why they aren’t taking it seriously

This is exactly what I was complaining about on Saturday for the first day of our "stay at home" order. Our nearest Lowes closed years ago, but HD was busy and Menards was absolutely packed!!! I can guarantee only a tiny portion of people were in there because of an essential need.

I think she should definitely look into it. She was getting paid, and is now unable to work due to CV. I think they are being pretty generous right now. Since she has time on her hands, I'd hand the task off to her, but that's just me

We use Shipt often and it's not unusual for the store itself to be out of stock despite the app allowing the items to be added to the order. It's an issue with Instacart as well - the app/websites are not real-time inventory. So it can be annoying. I like Instacart a bit better because it allows you to specify a substitute if what you want is out of stock. With Shipt they're supposed to ask. Peapod, a Giant grocery option, substitutes at their own discretion so it's like playing roulette.
