I love credit cards so much! v3.0 (see first page for add'l details)

I did 2 rooms at Hilton Hawaiian Village, two of my kids are adults. I booked a King room and a double room, tossed all the kids in the double :) My girls decided they couldn't share a bed so I ended up buying a lounge pool float and gave the youngest a blanket. Already had an airbed for the youngest boy. They made it work.
How did you like it there? I am looking at HHV as well as the Waikoloa one.

Chase was a week answering my SM to drop a CL and I'm hearing it can take even longer now. Sucks they don't want to take calls for this stuff, I didn't realize that, but now we know we all need to plan waaaay ahead I guess...
Took a week for me to get a response to close a CIP. I'd rather a week though than sit on the phone for 5 hours...!

1. I love all of our high fee cards (which is why we keep them)--the Amex Bus, Amex Schwab Personal, Hilton, and Gold. I love perks and the 4x on Restaurants and Groceries are huge for us with the Gold. I debated on the old CI+ I have, but I really don't like dealing with Gift Cards so I don't use it as much as I should, and sadly if I relied on that, I'd hit the max way too quickly.

So if someone had a gun to my head and I had to choose it would be the CSR. We travel and eat out so much that it's a huge earner for us. I was able to put our dues for our London time share on there so that is an additional big earner. I'm also loving the $60 per six months with Doordash. I've used it all up during the shelter in place on two meals. I didn't think I'd use it so that's been a nice surprise. The insurance has also saved us a bundle.

2. I mostly churn for first/business seats so my favorite redemption so far is last summer's Adventures by Disney to Japan where DD and I were able to fly RT in JAL first, and my husband and son flew business one-way and first the other on ANA using the amazing VS redemption. I think we used 550,000ish miles and taxes for the four of us. I calculated what the flights would have cost and it was $58,000. It was an amazing experience. Caviar and Cristal for the girls and the boys on their first class portion were the only two people in first class. They were treated like royalty, and my special needs son is now challenging plane princess for the title.

How about we redirect to something completely on topic!

2 Questions:

1) If you were told you had to close ALL of your CCs and could only hold ONE card...which card would you hold, and why?

2) Tell me about your favorite trip that churning has enabled. Where did you go? How did churning make it possible? etc...

Let's flood the thread with fun on topic comments that can encourage everybody during these tough times!!
1) Hmm, so hard to answer this! I'm not quite the CSR lover that many here are because we don't really pay for travel and we don't eat out much, so it is really a 1% earner for us. I do like the redemption using the points BUT when we lost Disney on UR's, the redemption through the CSR became pretty minimal for me. We rent a car on points a few times a year and the rates with the 1.5x multiplier are usually pretty similar to Costco. I tend to cash out points to buy discounted Disney GC's so from that perspective, the CFU makes the most sense as my 'can only have one' card. And yet, I rarely use that card. I guess because we always have a MSR we are working on and so that card gets all my spend. Without an ongoing MSR, I guess I'd probably choose my Barclay Arrival+ since it earns 2% on everything and I've found the credits very easy to use.

2) Disney 2017! Back in the good old days when you could book Disney resorts on UR's, we booked 9 nights (4 CS, 5 BC) and 2 rooms each night using UR's. I've forgotten how I did the tickets and dining but I know the trip was essentially free. We've followed that Disney trip with a few others, one to DLR and SoCal, and we've done them all for a fraction of the cost. Our 2018 DLR trip should have cost about 6k but ended up being 1k OOP for us. I'm happy with that!

ETA: Realized I didn't even put the BBP in the running. MR's aren't my preferred currency but I love the offers I get on that card. By far, that card has the best offers for me and I save so much!

My friends have that 40,000 piece Disney puzzle. Each section is very big at over 4,000 pieces. You need a large dedicated space to work on it. They happened to have their dining room that had not been furnished yet. They kept the puzzle on a large cardboard and the pieces on another board and worked on the floor. When they finally got dining furniture I don't think they ever worked on it again. I like puzzles but I would NEVER want that thing. It was stress inducing. They did finish maybe 3 of the panels but the whole thing will never be finished for multiple reasons.

This post has popped into my head a few times today as I've been searching for some place to buy this puzzle, and have found only third-party sellers who want a ridiculous price (even for a pandemic splurge purchase) because they are all selling ones that are new in the box. But I'd be perfectly happy with a used, even incomplete puzzle--so if your friends want to sell, I could be interested :)

The AF just posted on my CIP and I don't want to keep it. Can someone remind me if I can cancel the card through SM or if I need to call?

Also, I don't think it's possible to PC it to a personal card like the CF, but if it is please let me know.

Thanks in advance. :)

There was a big debate recently on the change from Coke to Pepsi on Carnival Cruises.

I'll drink Pepsi... if there is no Coke available.
Pepsi tastes sweeter to me. Coke has too much of a bite. I’ll still drink coke if Pepsi isn’t available. What’s funny is I grew up in Georgia and we only bought coke. When we moved to Iowa I switched to Pepsi

You should be able to SM if you’re closing the card. We PC’d a CIP to a CIC if you don’t have that card. I believe you have to call to do that

My flights seem to only ever go up. Checked them all, all cost more now.

Nah I am not talking cost... Just see if they are what you thought you booked!! One flight changed days, and the second changed to a flight with layover and 5hrs longer! What is even more interesting is neither of the flights they changed me to exist either! Never a single notification about any of this.

I have a question about Reddit. I use the new Reddit and have my filter set to newest but it only goes by newest post (not replies to older posts). Is there a way to change that or do I have to scroll through the entire thing? I don’t like it nearly as much as disboards

Good reminder. I called Geico but they weren’t super helpful. My insurance is now about $1000/6 months and they refunded me $56 for the five months I have left. It’s better than nothing. And I will call back when our cars are used normally again.
We have Geico and got an email today that our next bill would be something like 15% off. For the life of me I can't seem to find it now. ugh!
IIRC it said anyone renewing through October? We renew every 6 months with no option for 12 month policies so we renewed late March and our next one will be in Sept.
Sorry, I will keep looking for it to give you more accurate details.

ETA: Found it!
Dear ********,
As part of GEICO's ongoing efforts to assist customers during this unprecedented time, we are announcing The GEICO Giveback which provides a 15 percent credit to all auto and motorcycle customers as policies come up for renewal, between April 8, 2020 and October 7, 2020. This credit will also apply to any new policies purchased during this period as part of our commitment to protecting the wellbeing of our customers.
Current customers can expect to see the credit when they renew. Customers do not need to take any action to receive this credit.
The credits are expected to average $150 per auto policy and $30 per motorcycle policy. With roughly 18 million auto policies and 1 million motorcycle policies in force, we are proudly providing a total benefit of approximately $2.5 billion to our customers.
Last month, we announced that we're pausing cancellations of coverage due to non-payment or policy expiration through April 30, 2020 or later as directed by your state. Beyond that, we are committed to offering maximum flexibility to policyholders who need special payment options. And to ensure you continue to receive the 24/7 service you've come to expect, we've also transitioned nearly all of our associates to work from home.
Thank you for being part of the GEICO family. We value you and your business, and want to continue providing excellent support. We will continue to keep you updated.
Sincerely,
Todd Combs, President and CEO

So all this SW stuff had me looking at other dates finally, We originally were just going to move it to 2021 but I just booked flights for July and am going to call Disney tomorrow and move the May 30th res and see if I can get free dining and then see what I have to do to get the AoA Nemo suite moved since that was a comp booking.
