Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I'm making a prediction:
On July 6, Newsom will have his press conference and say "theme parks may open this Friday, July 10."

This is his M.O. with this whole situation.
I agree. I think sooner too. I wonder why July 4? It’s a Saturday? Why not next Friday? Plus CM’s are still going back to work. So maybe DLR is going to open near or around the original date.

I wonder why July 4?

My guess is they need to give employees that are returning to work at least 2 weeks notice to return. Since they won't get the okay BEFORE July 4th opening on July 16/17 won't be possible, since it would be less than 2 weeks.

I’m having JNCO jeans flashbacks of tripping and falling down. All. The. Time.

Which isn’t unlike how 2020 feels right now.

If anyone needs Disney things to ease their depression Shop Disney has free shipping today. 😂

Actually, that did help! I ordered some goggle and sunglasses for my turning-4-year old and grabbed a cheap Mickey backpack for me at the same time, haha. I really want to know when our local Disney outlet will finally open. That would cheer me up too!

My poor daughter just broke down in tears. We had reservations for July 25th at the Grand for her birthday. She suffers from anxiety and depression and the quarantine has been really difficult for her, so going to Disney was a bright spot on the horizon. Now that's gone. Going in August/September/October will be hard because we will all be back at school.
I'm on the fence about pushing this back. It will be interesting to see how other Disney parks and places fair in other states and countries. Disneyland will be the last to open.
I'm on the side of open things up with precautions in place, which is what Disneyland was going to do.

So will we be able to change our GCH reservations prior to the park reservations system if they are before the opening? My reservation is on the 27th. If it's announced they open later then that can I adjust my days to days they are open before the reservation system?

the news we got a week ago from the powers that be here in SD . was the things that were scheduled to open last Friday would open but after that there would be no new scheduled openings . sounds a bit familiar like a Dland reopening is in limbo . a few days ago Newsom announced masks are now required in California . that was no change for us . masks have been required here since May 1st IIRC . the Rona numbers went up a tic and the result was that's it for now for new openings . things could get bumpy for a while it's now wait-n-see time . I pulled the plug on a Dland Trip last Saturday for a hopefully Aug 9th-Aug 13th vacation . now thinking maybe . maybe not next year around this time . not in a hurry to get there . it will be when the time is right again some day . my2cents

That’s what I expect, but then someone on a Facebook group mentioned that parking will temporarily be free...not sure if that’s true. It was reported from a phone CM...we all know how reliable that info can be lol
Update: Gothic Rosie commented that she heard from two sources that the Simba parking for DTD will be free for a short time (my guess: maybe originally from July 9-17, when that was supposed to be the parks' reopening date?). But now that we know the parks won't be reopening on the 17th, who knows whether the Simba parking will still be free or if it that rumor was true to begin with. If anyone finds an official source about this, please post!

Costco vodka popsicles and pizza for the win!

Do you think it’s possible the state is waiting to see how people behave on the 4th? Our governor gave us a stern talking to about not losing our minds on the 4th and throwing precautions out the window. 😂

Maybe I am not understanding what DLR is saying, but I would not buy Disney tickets if there was no guarantee of admission. I would have paid for plane tickets and then sit in my hotel room hoping I can get in sometime during the time I am there. That does not make sense for guests coming from a distance.
See the quote below from earlier in this thread -- basically Disney agrees with you. They want guests to double check that a park reservation is available for the date desired before purchasing tickets. (Park Reservations must be made after the tickets are purchased.) WDW has already posted this alert on their Park Reservation page. It is expected that DLR will do the same on their Park Reservation page.

I just checked the WDW Park Reservation page and this alert is part of the booking info. You can check Park Availability. DL should have the same message:

“Check to see if your desired date and park is currently available before purchasing your ticket, Annual Pass or package. Please keep your preference in mind when selecting your ticket. You will need to make your theme park reservation after purchasing.“

Reminder to everyone participating in this thread:
I know we all got sideswiped by DLR's announcement yesterday, but we still need to be mindful of the DIS guidelines. Please keep your posts on topic (i.e. related in some way to DLR's much longed for reopening), avoid posting political comments, and avoid discussing the virus itself if your post doesn't relate to DLR (e.g. speculate about Disneyland, not about the virus!).
Thanks to those of you helping each other through some tough times with this latest announcement.
Now, back to the discussion!

I agree. Also CM’s (from what they are saying on FB) are still reporting to work on Monday- no reported amendment to their schedule as of yet. I still think Disney’s public announcement for their hotels were Predicated on their ability to open the parks. I think they were purposefully ambiguous about how the state “indicated”
That they couldn’t open rather than explicitly saying whether or not they received a yes or no. Plus the ending of their letter saying they cannot open until negotiations with the unions are reached leaves me to believe that’s the real hold up so to speak.
The union holdup is exactly what I thought too. If that IS the case, I believe the additional money runs out July 25th, and unemployment on its own makes it hard to get all the bills paid- so it leaves people in a tough spot. Without an extension, these workers will, I think, be wanting to get back to work and pushing the unions to be reasonable and Disney and the other parks for safe guidelines to be worked out. It's a tough situation for all, but if it can be worked out safely, it IS good for the parks to open.
Now if people would just wear masks and follow guidelines, we could lower these spikes. I agree with earlier posts that they should have pressed charges on the person that spit on a CM. Their safety and security should be the priority. If someone doesn't get why Disney would press charges for that, it's the type of person that really shouldn't be in the parks with children and families anyway.

The announcement says "after July 4," not that Newsom will announce anything on July 4. So let's hope we can enjoy our holiday without having to check our phones every minute for Disney news!
