Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Interesting comments from Newsom today, who commented both on rising case and hospitalization data, calling it “sobering”, but also pointing out the harmful economic and employment effects of the shutdown. Not sure what that portends for the theme parks. The whole thing is really confusing.

So I will be the odd one out. We are first-time visitors to Disneyland (Disney-anything, actually), traveling with a five-year-old, and paying full boat. We are trying like the dickens to get there in August. I actually think there are some advantages to being first-timers during a pandemic 🙂 For example, the crowds will be low. One of the biggest complaints I've heard from family and friends is that DL was too crowded and the lines were too long. I'm not sure how the lines thing is going to work, but crowds shouldn't be a problem!

Also, literally everything is going to be new to us. We will be awed by Mainstreet, stumped by the hidden Mickeys everyone else has already found, and excited to ride even the lowliest A-ticket. My son doesn't know that meet-and-greets, parades, or fireworks were ever an option, so he won't miss them. We don't have a favorite ride or restaurant that won't be open. All the treats are new. He will be THRILLED by the PPH waterslide.

We are a bit disappointed that it looks like much of SWGE will be closed, but--since we're first-timers 😉--ROTR, MF:SR, Dok Onders, and Droid Depot (and hopefully Oga's!) will provide our Star Wars fix, and missing the rest just means we will have to come back another year. And when we do, it will be basically like a brand new trip! We can check out the rides, restaurants, parades, shows, and shops we didn't get to see this time. Also, The Boy will be a bit older and I'm thinking Savi's would make a heckuva father-son bonding experience for two Star Wars obsessives.

Now if Sacramento would just give them the go-ahead already!!

Love this and your positive attitude toward it all!☺️

I feel like this whole pandemic has been confusing. lol

How can you tell if your AP is linked to your on site hotel reservation? Do I have to call and register my friend's GAT ticket to our reservation? Do we have to reserve separately for park days?...
Just to clarify here, I think the posts you were reading and referring to were discussing the WDW reservation system headaches (!) that happened this morning. Their system 'links' things and DLR's doesn't. Two different systems. So you don't have to worry about any of that. (Yay!) @hiroMYhero gave you good advice. And you don't need to do anything further until we find out official information about DLR's reservation system (which we should find out fairly soon). So just hang tight, don't panic, and wait until DLR releases the official info on their reservation system and how it will work.

Opportunity for Newsom going forward with Disney - is if they can show that good hygiene with mask compliance and hand sanitizer. ---screen the worker population aggressively and low transmission rate. -- this would give confidence for template for businesses as well as boost for masking policies a

We've done in our hospital with all staff - the local prevailing population is about 2.5%. Hospital staff: 0.9%. Masking and contact precautions work -- just how much enforcement/compliance

...
They did an update for DTD opening. The highlights I see are:
- Parking will be at the Simba lot; no mention if parking will be free. Which brings me to another question. If you have a pass with parking on it, could you use it?...
Going to guess that the parking rules for DTD will be the same as before: 3 hours free with a $20 purchase (at one location w/a validation) and 5 hours free with a TS meal (and a validation). APs didn't work at Simba pre-closure, so I'm not sure they would work after reopening. (Because why would Disney be that generous, right? Oh, cynical me...)

From the FlexPass Superthread (6/22/20):

So I was told something interesting when I spoke to someone in AP monthly payments today. According to him and his supervisor, on May 22 Disney set all monthly paying APs for people who hadn't already made the choice to extend to option 1 (the refund for March 14-April 4 payment, payments will resume once park is open and pass will expire on regular date with no extension for closure choice). However, it's still possible to call and request the extension. He called this a one-time "allowance" by Disney — even though I pointed out Disney never communicated a deadline for making the choice on either its website or AP emails. So I think calling it an allowance or exemption is a bit much. But if anyone wants the extension, I'd suggest calling ASAP just to be safe. I called the AP line to do this last week, but had to wait for the monthly payments line to open today to have it applied. And my pass expires in July, so I don't know if this applies to passes that already expired during the closure. But even though I knew option 1 is what Disney said they'd default to, I got nervous when I realized it had already been done. (Truthfully, how the CM communicated it was part of it and why I got a bit panicky. Luckily our communication improved from there on.)

Sorry this might be listed here but I just want to double check something. We had reservations back in April, that obviously got cancelled. I made reservations for GCH for July 25 (only time we could go). I wasn't able to purchase a package with hotel and tickets and of course couldn't purchase my tickets at that time separately.

So as things move forward, am I just waiting for ticket purchase and then I got pass reservations for the days we are there?

Will staying at the hotel help us get tickets/pass reservations? Is there a possibility that we will get tickets and not get pass reservations to get in the parks?

I know this is confusing for everyone. I sure appreciate any help!
Nothing official has been announced yet, but right now, based on what happened yesterday with WDW's park reservation system, having your GCH reservation should give you priority when DLR's park reservation system opens. (We don't know yet when that will be.) But you will need to have already purchased your park tickets to make those park reservations, Can you call the GCH to ask about this? DLR has not announced when they plan to start reselling tickets. Some authorized vendors were selling tickets as of last week, but I don't know if any of them still are.

Have GCV booked for August but no tickets yet. If DL opens up park reservations, I cannot book any because I don't have tix. Anyone have any insight on what DL plans are for this? Will they open up ticket sales to those with room reservations so that we can book park reservations before there aren't any left?

As I just posted above to someone else with a similar question, have you called Disney to ask about this? Disney has said that they will be reselling tickets at some point (hopefully soon -- WDW says they will start reselling tickets later this summer -- DLR hasn't said when they'll start reselling tickets), so I would start by asking Disney directly just to see what they say. At least you have a few weeks after the parks reopen to watch these boards and to see what happens.

Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea Set to Open July 1
Something interesting to note from the above article: "Guests will be required to wear masks at all times inside the parks, except when dining. However, in order to prevent heatstroke, during the summer season when the temperature and humidity are high, if guests are outdoors with adequate distance from other people, masks may be removed."
This sounds new to me. Do SDL and HKDL have this same allowance? Or only TDL?

That’s what I expect, but then someone on a Facebook group mentioned that parking will temporarily be free...not sure if that’s true. It was reported from a phone CM...we all know how reliable that info can be lol

If you should hear any kind of official confirmation on the temporary free parking rumor, please post! That certainly would be a bright spot in all this, wouldn't it?

Anyone figure out how resort reservations via a special convention will work (Gay Days or Dapper Days) for the theme park reservations? From what I understand they are different than traditional resort reservations. My AP will still be valid for the event.
The tickets are the same as any other daily ticket. They are just purchased at a small discount. If the parks reach capacity, there's no guarantee that you can get it.

At this time, Gay Days is selling hotel rooms, but not theme park tickets. They are unsure of what will happen with their events, etc and they are also saying that they don't know if the parks will be open during those days.
