Another attraction gone?

No, I definitely remember sitting at Playhouse Disney (it’s been that long!) but would’ve sworn Mermaid was floor seating too. Maybe I just remember it feeling squishy carpet? I just remember it seeming damp and smelling moldy (I’m sensitive to mold), I guess from the bubbles. Count me amongst those who’d like to see it reimagined as the Animation Academy again—loved that.
the moldy smell comes from the water feature that begins and ends the show, but the theater has always had seats

I would disagree that they are too dated. Incredibles 2 wasn’t very long ago. Monsters is still set to get a new series on Disney+. Cars just opened a show in DHS not too long ago.
Imo monsters inc would be the best suited for a full land as I think there’s a lot of world building that can be done with that environment. I also like the idea of California having cars land and Florida having monstropolis, as it gives each place something unique

Not to mention that Carsland at DCA is AWESOME!!!!!!

Far better than Test Track. It’s like let’s make Test Track better, and they did.

I don’t think Monsters was all that good to justify a land. At the end of the day, this is about removing people from attractions.

It’s one of my favorite Pixar movies but I’m not sure how consensus that is across the board. I’ve also only seen cars one and it’s “eh” but would still love to see cars land. I think if the land is done well enough people will come. (Which is the entire argument about not having to make lands/rides around IP but I digress)

I think there is a lot that you could do with the land based on Monsters, Inc.
As we don't get to DCA very often, would love to see Cars land as well, but not sure there is enough space there.

As far as lands go, I think Disney got it right the 1st time. As in fantasy land or tomorrow land where you can incorporate multiple ips to an area and swap out certain attractions when necessary. Like some sort of water land could have Nemo Moana and say Atlantis or whatever. Now Atlantis is dated so demo it for something fresher.

I would like to see some (maybe smaller) retro attractions based around the classics like Bambi or Robin Hood. I think these would appeal to adults and introduce them to a whole new generation.

Disney announced it is donating land on site to be used by Orange County as a Covid Testing site. The Actors Union is taking this as an opportunity to end their greivance and sign an agreement with Disney allowing their union members to go back to work. So we will be seeing live performances in the near future back at WDW. Not going to get political here, but if anyone wants more info, Blog Mickey has a couple of articles on the whole situation.

Is it still too soon for the bambi shooting gallery?

I will say those who are statingcars land improved upon test track...they had to ruin test track once for that to become true!

Good News, The Disney performers seem to have reached an agreement
"Disney World will host COVID-19 tests, paving way for performers to return"

On-site public COVID-19 testing will be available on Disney-owned property this week, possibly clearing the way for many actors, dancers and stunt people to return to work — and thereby restoring some of Disney’s most popular shows to its theme parks.
“We have been consistent that testing is an important part of ensuring a safe workplace for Equity performers, and today, I’m pleased to see that Disney World has agreed,” said Kate Shindle, president of Actors’ Equity Association, which represents about 750 Disney performers.

I wish they would turn the space back into the animation studio - I loved doing that

100% agree - When they closed the Magic of Disney Animation it was the saddest I've ever been for an attraction to leave the parks.

Overall I'm not really upset about the Voyage of the Little Mermaid closing... while I have nostalgic memories of it from my childhood, Under the Sea in Fantastyland is a better Little Mermaid attraction. That whole area of Hollywood Studios is the least interesting and definitely needs some refreshing. I would be devastated if the Walt Disney exhibit ever closed though!

I'm confused about UP: Great Bird Adventure at Animal Kingdom. It seems closed, but I've read people talking about seeing a bird show (maybe without Russel and Doug?). Anyone know about this? [p.s. I'm sad about Little Mermaid. I really liked that show at DHS]
It's a show with the trainers and birds only now - no Russel and Doug. I thought it was good - they are working with birds, what can you expect?

I'm not remotely a fan of the Cars movies, but I do love two things that came out of the film: the Rascal Flatts cover of "Life is a Highway" and Carsland. You don't have to like or even have seen the movie(s) to enjoy that part of DCA. It has our go-to spot for in-park breakfast (mmmmm Flos...) and gorgeous pictures with amazing forced perspective AND a really great E-ticket. As a land itself, I actually prefer it to Galaxy's Edge - and I much prefer Star Wars to Cars.

Unfortunately, there is definitely not enough space to build out Carsland in DHS. It's almost the size of Galaxy's Edge. It would require tearing out almost all of backstage and the sightlines would be a nightmare. Which is a shame...but at the same time, we at DL never get anything to ourselves, so it's kind of nice to hold Carsland over Florida ;)

Instead of inserting more random IP in DHS, it would be nice if they did something with Animation Courtyard to make it solely themed on the making of TV shows and movies.

TV is a bad idea because shows usually don't run long enough to last beyond the time it takes to recognize a popular show, plus the design of the land and the building of it.

DHS would be best served to have these IP lands that are heavily movie based that last 3+ movies. If the new Indiana Jones is actually good, there's your starting point.
