Our first house was a duplex with a portable dishwasher like that, butcher block included. The thing was a PIA but at least I didn't have to wash dishes. Dishes quickly became DHs responsibility since I did all the menu planning and cooking. Still mostly that way 32 years later.
I grew up with one of those too, hated pushing that thing across the kitchen and hooking it up.

Awe, this made me nostalgic. We had a portable dishwasher when I was little. I remember it had a butcher block top. Not sure if that came with it, or if my parents added that? It sat under our corded wall phone, which was probably rotary. Oh, the 80s.
I think it came with it, because we had one too.
It was a Kenmore, and kinda yellowish-gold color with chrome accents
Because of that thing, I still "clean" the dishes before they go in dishwasher

Yes, the eighties, and ours also had a butcher block top!

Ours was standard white. And, I also still at least rinse before I load.

Colors were more expensive, as was a portable unit. Now if you want white, appliances cost more.

I figure it won't be long before I have to replace my current built in model. It's about 12 years old. I won't be looking for white as I've migrated to stainless. And I won't be buying Bosch - hate loading the ones my daughter has had!

At least you know you'll have a dishwasher. My mom has never had one, doesn't want one. I couldn't wait until I had a dishwasher and it's one of the few things that drives me batty about living with her. There's also not room for one without losing cabinets or totally redoing the kitchen and taking out a very small part of the wall.
Dh grew up with 7 brothers and sisters and they didn’t have a dishwasher!

My wife and I had one in our first apartment from 2009-2014. She had always had a dishwasher and I had never had one. Butcher block top that we got because someone else was moving out of the apartment building and was going to throw it away. Used it for 5 years and gave it away to someone else when we moved to a bigger apartment that already had one.

Chase offers question. If I add an offer to my CSP will it trigger if my wife uses her AU card at the merchant? I got a 15% back at Hyatt, my wife has a one week business stay at a Hyatt in the promo period. Since the numbers are the same it should credit right?

This is true but many things still closed. Who knows if they will open for anniversary but stayed at Swan a few weeks ago and disappointed at what was open. For Swolphin, Picabu was open random hours as was Fountain. Their lobby places like Chill and Java were not even open the listed times.
Oh dear....I hadn't thought of that.... in my head it's still in it's pre-pandemic glory! :guilty:

Went to the parks over the weekend (stayed at Grand Cypress) and the parks were dead. It was by far the least crowded I have ever experienced. It was great to be able to do attractions with almost no wait time. Finally got to see HEA fireworks as well before they are gone.

My daughter is there this week. I'm happy the crowd level is low as they celebrate their anniversary.

We’re here right now! We did MK last night and this morning. We have been able to walk right on space, btmr, and splash

:welcome: BACK to the DISboards!

I also like WVMomof3's idea. Maybe "he" could apply with a lot of your help?
That's worth a minimum of $1,240 for the two of you if you simply cashed out at 1 cent per point
. (100k SUB + 20k for your support + 4k for the minimum spend earnings.)
Plus you can easily turn that into a value of $1,550 with the CSP's 1.25x multiplier.

ETA: We did NOT collaborate on those responses :D

ETA: As far as pacing, we generally recommend to keep Chase applications 3 months apart and you can't exceed 4 successful personal card applications in 24 months (putting you at 5/24). This is why P2 is useful. And note that business cards don't add to the x/24 count, but you still must be under 5/24 to apply.

What they said....My DH does not have a clue what cards he even has... He has one card he keeps in his wallet. I alternate signing us up for cards but since I do all the spending, I just keep the cards and use them. If he has a bigger purchase he will ask if I have a certain card he needs to use and then I will give him the card I am currently using for SUB. But he is also well aware of all the trips we have been able to go on because of this hobby. Family of 4. (kids in early 20's now). Have not paid for airfare in many years. Trips to Disney (which gasp.. DH does not care about), Cruises etc all paid with points. Hopefully you can get him to change his mind..

Ditto!

so there is a Paypal deal for 10%off Target if you pay with Paypal. I buy groceries at Target, so I will use it for that. If I throw in a Target gift card, for a few hundred, do you think that would anger AMEX on an MSR for my Delta upgraded card?
Just tagging this one in case anybody missed it - this 10% off $500 @ Target deal is pretty awesome!

To access this deal - login to paypal and click on DEALS.
IF you don't see a target deal in your first list (scroll through to the right) I advise you add the Hot Topic deal (might have to click save offer 2-3 times to fully add it). After I did that, the Target offer then appeared!

This expires on 9/1 so if you want to do it... get on it NOW! The way it works is that you go to Target.com, Buy a $500 Disney GC or Target GC, and it only charges your card $450. It was super easy!

I did it with my Discover card and got 5% CashBack with their quarterly Paypal category...

Thank you! First time I've noticed this thread and just in time. I did exactly what you said. Just bought a $500 GC for Disney for $450 via paypal and paid with my Discover card.

Marriott visa.
I recently got the Chase Boundless Bonvoy, which is a Marriott Visa with an annual fee of $95. The new member special gives 3 one night hotel certificates valued at 50K points after spending $3K in the first 3 months. As soon as I hit my 3K spend, the 3 one night certificates were loaded to my account (in less than 2 months).

Based on where I travel, the 3 certificates won't get me much where I want to go often. I live near DL in California and it appears there is only one branded place walking distance to the parks that is within the 50K points. All the places I'd prefer to stay near there require much higher points. Also, I didn't see Swan/Dolphin at WDW as a likely place to redeem the 50K point certs. I will still get good use out of the certificates, but you'll want to keep that in mind. You still have to pay for things like tax, parking, resort fee, etc.

While each year costs $95/ you get a 30K hotel certificate each year on your anniversary.

The points earned by spending on other items is extremely poor. It's 2 points per dollar spent. So, if I charged $10K on my card at places other than Marriott, I'll have 20K points which isn't helpful when I want to stay at places that need 70K + points. If I charge that same $10K on my Citibank Double Cash back, I get $200 cash, which is more valuable for me as I can take the $200 and pay for a hotel room or use towards a more expensive hotel room. You cannot use your room certificates towards a higher valued room. I get 6 points for each dollar that I spend in Marriott hotels and I intend to use it that way.

I made a very calculated decision when getting the card because I plan on staying often in the Marriott brands over the next few years and I wanted those 3 certificates that I get for being a new member. If I wasn't going to be loyal to the Marriott brand, I would much rather use my double cash back card.
