I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

I have no status with AA and am fine with it. I've been in the lounge in Toronto and it's okay, I could easily live without; the lounge in Dallas was packed when I was there and they were charging for bottles of water (only available at the bar); the AA lounge in Miami has always been packed when I've been there; I'm sure I've been in a few others that I can't recall atm. I would not get an AA cc just to get access to their lounges. I'd say they are comparable with PP lounges, which you can use with the CSR. Dh recently got concierge key; I guess he likes being the first person on planes ? He had EP for years before getting CK and he said won't give up status with AA (I do love the SWUs that come with his status).
yeah I'm free agent now but I love a challenge I guess I See if I actually get upgraded I don't like buying first unless its a good deal tbh and that's rare I did score fc to NYC for under 200 thanks to Thrifty Traveler but I was spending at least 25-50% more on delta this also has reciprocal with one world. The big thing is the AA points I think are way more valuable then the sky pesos and obtainable ofc if that changes I'll drop the card. But for now, I think its good I guess. It might be better or worse if MCO wasn't primarily southwest. But on the routes I typically go alaska and aa have been way cheaper then delta.

Biz cards wouldn't add to that. Though the inquiry might get you too many recent injuries. Or you can do an Amex biz card. It's like it never happened lol.
P2 calls these "Stealth Cards". He doesn't have a problem going for any AmEx Biz I float to him. (well, at least now that's he's not as concerned that the "biz" police are going to come roaring up the drive at any moment. No evidence I guess, must be ok :rotfl2:)

UGHHH! DD and I ordered new iPhone. DD's was delivered on Tuesday. Mine was delivered yesterday and 10 minutes after it was delivered it was stolen off our steps. We have cameras showing FedEx dropping it off at 3:45. Then 10 minutes later a guy in a U-Haul with an orange worker vest gets out and goes up and takes the package. Where he was parked, he couldn't even see the steps - so he knew the package was there. Either following the FedEx truck or in cahoots with him. Gave all info/pics to the police. They were able to get pics of the U-Haul truck on their cameras up the road at some stoplights and get the license plate #. Hope they are able to get him - who knows how much stuff was in the truck.

I don't know why I didn't send these to my work... dumb!! But ATT also didn't require a signature either, which is odd. Called ATT and they are sending me a new phone. They blocked the other phone so it won't be able to be used in the US but they said that people send them overseas and they have no control if it is used there.

So, watch out for your packages. The cop said is going to ramp up with the holidays.

I'm so sorry this happened! That's terrible -- I guess at least you saved some time knowing exactly what happened rather than wondering what happened between the delivery and when you didn't find it when you returned home.

A few years ago, my DH got his SSN stolen and it was used to order like 4 phones and a tablet from TMobile and had a phone and tablet delivered to our home. I happened to work from home and since our dog barks at everything, I knew something had been delivered immediately and got it from the porch. Anyway, we aren't sure if someone was planning to swipe it after delivery or if they HAD to send something to our address as to not raise suspicions with all those devices going somewhere we'd never lived. It's a terrible feeling.

What do people use their Capital One Travel Credits on? The $300 travel credit from the Capital One Venture X?

Apparently, it looks like airfare, hotel or car rentals on their travel portal only? And some luxury hotel stuff?

I book airfare with my airline cc to get free checked in luggage. I book hotels either with my Hilton cc or use points through Hyatt. And I usually book my car rentals through costcotravel.com to get the free extra driver.

Not sure what to use the credit for... My annual renewal fee just hit my statement. What are my options? Can I downgrade the card? Apply for the Venture and then cancel the X or just try to find a way to use the Travel Credit and hold onto the card one more year?

My next trip is a NCL panama canal cruise in November. It has been paid in full with no airfare needed.

How do those that have the Venture X use up the travel credit of $300 each year?

I have about 96K of reward points that I definitely want to keep...

So I've had a really awful day but my current major issue is my son is traveling home for fall break and connecting in CLT. Looks like he'll miss his connection. And he's only 18 and I know he won't be able to check into a lot of hotels. This is causing him tremendous stress which is causing me tremendous stress.

I find CLT (presuming he's on AA) never have adequate connection times. I think the last few times I traveled thru I didn't even have time for a bathroom break due to running between concourses. I will say, I've not ever MISSED my connection, even when it's been verrrrrrry close (like last person on plane).

If there isn't another flight between CLT and your home, I hope that the airline staff works with him. Hope he makes it!

Me too! If this were my daughter, I'd know she'd deal. But this is happening to the wrong kid! And it looks like this is the last flight out. I'm hoping maybe American will hold it if other flights are delayed.

Ugh, so sorry this is happening. Out of curiosity I googled hotels with airport shuttles to CLT, and saw there's a Hilton Garden Inn and a Hampton Inn & Suites, but their websites say he has to be 21 to check in. There is also a Courtyard Marriott with a shuttle, but I didn't see any minimum age on its website. Marriott's website says 18 is the min age, but you could try calling to double check. Does he have a credit card on him to pay? I supposed the front desk could take payment over the phone maybe.

This scenario stresses me out with my 18 yr old kid who goes to school out of state too. Fortunately I've been able to book nonstop flights with SW but I know that's not an option for many people. Hope he does successfully make his connection!

Can I pay for a trip for someone else on my CSR and get the travel insurance that comes with the card or do I have to be the one traveling?

I book hotels (refundable!) that don't belong to a major chain, or car rentals since the Venture X has primary car rental insurance. ETA - it's usually in CA that I'm renting a car, and the state of CA requires rental car companies to allow for free spousal drivers (may even be a non-spousal driver, I don't recall). Otherwise, I do the same as you and book through Costco for the free add'l driver.

Thanks. I guess I may need to figure out how to use it...

For my Aspire and the SW flights I charged on 10/16/23 (prior to the surprise announcement yesterday), I've received reimbursement today for one of the three purchases ($91). I'll check tomorrow to see if I get the rest by then. But on my Plat I made SW purchases on 10/15 and my full $200 reimbursement posted yesterday 10/19. And this morning my $50 airline credit tracker on the Aspire was showing all $50 available, but this afternoon it says I used all $50 of it. If I don't see the rest of the reimbursement tomorrow, I'll be speaking with Amex.

For trip cancellation, it just needs to be an immediate family member and the definition is pretty broad. You don't need to be traveling. For emergency evacuation, it's more narrow. You can see details here.

Ok just to confirm my sister, BIL, and niece would qualify? My sister is at least immediate family. Again I assume they would qualify but just wanted to be sure.

I so wish there was a nonstop. I also really wish he had stayed in state.

Did he make it? Hugs to mom and son. I know I'd be freaking out.

I haven't seen a post about this but here goes, I was pretty loyal to Delta able to get platinum from CC spend and flights, after this fiasco about them moving the bar extremely high I've decided to go free agent and I'm finding flights are actually cheaper with other airlines vs them. I am going to drop my DW au on the card as we can probably deal with the 10 visits a year, but the BOGO is still worth it for us for a trip a year. I'm finding American Airlines to be easier to chase after, I get cross loyalty points for being a Hyatt globalist too as well as when you shop, etc, going to take my first AA trip in years maybe even a decade how are the lounges worth getting the admirals card? Any tips for an American Airlines newbie to get loyalty faster?
I have found that whether the lounges are worthwhile really varies from airport to airport (and possibly from other factors too, like whether you travel at peak times). My one recent visit to an Admirals Club was much less crowded than my recent visits to Delta or Centurian lounges but I would not be surprised to find that other people have had different experiences.
