Hope the OP spoke up about their disappointment. I had something similar happen to me few weeks ago. Got a call that my BC CL room won’t be available due to upgrades going on and was offered YC. After a few phone calls back and forth I decided to take the YC room. I did get a little over 200$ refunded for our 2 night stay..
Initially I had Water view at BC and they tried to put me in std CL room at YC (downgrade). They also tried to justify the cost being the same. That did not fly with me and than I became hostile.
I was not happy how they handled the situation and it wasn’t until I pushed and asked for escalation of my issue is when they started rolling out offers and the Water view room at YC magically became available. . At that point it was too late I was already upset.
