Everyone bear with me this is my first review of any kind.

So we arrive! This is the moment I’ve been waiting for, for months, ok years! I wait in line to check in and I’m in luck the rooms ready! We walk down and see our room, a beautiful corner room with a water view! Yesss, we’ve been upgraded! NOO It’s a King room, I’m not sleeping in the same bed with my mother. I love my mother but not that much. So we trek back to the lobby and I’m in line again. We get our room changed but it’s not ready, that’s ok, we’ll wait, plus we’re starving.
We were on the free dining plan and I planned every counter service, table service, and snack to a tee. But, we’re starving so that planned snack is not going to happen. We enter Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory and we decide we’ll pay out of pocket for some counter service. I used my Disney reward dollars to purchase refillable mugs and we fill them up right away. I order my meal and I decide on chicken fingers and fries, my old standby. My mom chooses the chicken parmesan. Once we find a table I begin to take some pictures of the food, and so it begins, I received strange look number one. People really think you’re crazy when you photograph your food!
I will rate counter service meals under three headings service, size, and quality.

SERVICE: The service we both received was good; the lines for the food service as well as the cashier were quick and painless.

SIZE: The size of the chicken fingers were large and there were plenty of fries. My mother thought her chicken parmesan could have been bigger but the amount of pasta was perfect.

QUALITY: The chicken fingers were very good and freshly prepared. The fries were also fresh and warm but a bit too salty for my taste.
The chicken parmesan was good, my mother enjoyed the sauce, and we’re Italian! The bread that accompanied the dish was soggy on one side and crunchy on the other, ick!

The breakdown:
Chicken Finger basket: $7.13 <including tax>

And the Stomach Saga begins...
I don’t know if it was the excitement of being in Disney, the anxiety of being in Disney, or a true stomach bug, but I don’t feel right. We decided to wait by the pool until our room was ready. It’s was finally ready around 3 and we moved in without a hitch. At this point I wasn’t hungry for dinner but my mom was. We walked the path to Port Orleans Riverside, and decided to eat at the Riverside Mill food court.

Nothing was appealing to me so I decided to use my first snack credit for a container of celery and carrot sticks. My mother jumped on the DDP bandwagon and decided to use her snack credit as well, but for a side salad.
We arrived to our table and began to eat. The celery and carrots did it for me but my mom was still hungry. My mom returned to the food area and ordered a piece of apple pie and a container of celery and carrot sticks for her, and a brownie for me. Thanks mom, my stomach hurts and you get me a brownie! As my mother convinces herself that she’s eating fruit and vegetables for dinner and chows down, I attempted to eat the brownie and it wasn’t happening.

SERVICE: There were no lines at the food or cashier areas, with the exception of the baked goods area. The cast members were very knowledgeable of the DDP and friendly! I was even allowed to swap my ranch dressing for French.

SIZE: For a snack credit the portions were large. The brownie was normal brownie size, nothing to write home about, and the apple pie was large.

Quality: The vegetables were fresh and washed. The apple pie was very good and cinnamon-y, yes we made up an adjective. The brownie was cake-like and very rich.

The breakdown:

Carrots and Celery :$3.69 (Snack Credit)

Thank you so much for a different take on things! :thumbsup2

Slightly Goofy

I had a giggle thinking about all us Diser's taking pictures of food the whole trip! I am totally going to approach anyone doing this if I see it. Great job!

Thank you for all of the wonderful comments and encouragement, you’ve inspired me to update sooner than I thought.

Ok so today is Magic Kingdom day! I could barely sleep so I was already up when Mickey called for our 6am wake up. I jump in the shower and, BAM it hits me those stomach issues did not go away ahhh! I don’t care nothing could make me skip the Magic Kingdom, we’re going.
I volunteered to run down to the food court while my mom was getting ready and get some breakfast. I’m not so hungry so I decided I’d eat my brownie from the night before. I got to the food court and it’s so empty I loved it, I snapped a ton of pictures!

I got my mom a cheese Danish, filled up our mugs, and returned to the room. My mom ate her Danish and I shoved down my brownie, anything for the Magic Kingdom.

SERVICE: The place was so empty, I received wonderful service. I asked about their snack options, and was told almost everything in the pastry case counted as a snack, yay!
SIZE: The cheese danish was large enough to be eaten for breakfast.

QUALITY: the danish was freshly made and the cheese was very creamy.

Breakdown:

Cheese Danish: $2.55 (1 Snack Credit)

Next: Magic Kingdom..Pixie Dust!

Awesome job on the reviews. I am waiting to hear if your stomach got better.
I have learned from the past to watch what I eat at Chef Mickey's for dinner. I normally don't eat rich, creamy foods and twice my stomach was in "knots".

One question in regards to the snack credits. Are all the snacks in one area or are they labeled individually so you know it's for a snack credit? Thanks we arrive at AKL Monday and cannot wait for 8 magical days! :)

Most of the snack credit items were in bins or cases labeled snack option.
There were some things not labeled, so I just asked, the cast members were very helpful.
