Ours was specific to our DTD visit in July. They asked questions about our visit, then asked questions pertaining to DL

I believe state site updates weekly; but I don't watch that on a daily basis to see. Last update 8/1 - but the data pull looks a few days before that; so lagging 3 days is my guess.

There have also been reports today that the state/county data is incomplete.

I will also note that the cdph.ca.gov site has my county as in compliance with the metrics and we haven't been for nearly 3 weeks.

It's too bad the state is so bad at maintaining current numbers. They have OC at 226.9 per 100,000.

There is a disconnect in how the state is reporting the data vs the county. OC, when it gets a positive test result, backdates the result to the day the specimen was collected and adds it to that day's count. The STATE just counts positive tests received each day and creates a 14 day average. OC is actually doing it the way it SHOULD be done, if you want a real time snapshot of current infection levels. Unfortunately, the state hasn't caught up with reporting that way.

Newsom news conference yesterday may give us some insight to his mindset on reopening for DLR. -- slowly

When asked what may be contributing to the apparent decline in transmission, whether it was more mask wearing or fewer gatherings, Newsom answered "all of the above." He added the mandatory sectoral closings - including bars and indoor restaurants statewide - have also had an impact.

"At the same time, we can quickly find ourselves back to where we were just a few weeks ago, a month ago - with significant increases - if we do not maintain our vigilance," Newsom said. "This virus is not going away. It's not just going to take Labor Day weekend off, it's not going to take Halloween off or the holidays off. Until we have quality therapeutics and until we have a vaccine, we are going to be living with this virus."

With that in mind, Newsom made it clear he's not ready to start toggling the "dimmer switch" on reopening just yet. Before that happens, he said we need a "marked decline" and "consistent stabilization" in hospitalization rates, ICU admissions and testing positivity rates.

What’s crazy is I actually think they could open Disneyland more safely than a bar or indoor dining. It’s what WDW has done..... obviously it’s a heavily modified version, but there are definitely parts of Disneyland that I’d feel safer at, while you wouldn’t catch me at a bar for all the money in the world. But given Newsom’s stance...... I think we won’t see anything until October. At the earliest. Everything has to continue trending down and then stay there for awhile.

Agree -Bars and rental parties so much more dangerous than what DTD and WDW has put together along with their other international sites.

Unless Chapek has an inside lane to Newsom for something like a 'pilot example of reopening'; reading Newsom's comments -- DLR going to be in the same slow reopening boat as rest of theme parks.

Perhaps a Food+Wine type a la Taste of Calico may be higher possibility now. Just speculating on something moving forward before anything near WDW occurs.

In a way, yes. After my experiences at DtD and Legoland, and with what’s going on at WDW, Disney has already proven that they have the best procedures in place. They should be the standard by which other theme parks open and operate right now, and if those theme parks can’t have the same procedures in place, they shouldn’t be allowed to open. Disney has always been the standard by which other theme parks are judged, and just like in every other instance, during the pandemic they’ve proven they’re the best, and they’ve gone above and beyond. Disney should lead the way in opening California’s theme parks when the time is right, and if others can’t match their safety procedures, they shouldn’t be allowed to open.

Exactly. Lead by example. And if Newsom wanted to step out on a ledge -- this could be it. Many will see it as preferential treatment while others will see it showcasing how it can and should be done. It's the Gov's call. My inclination is that he will play it safe by lumping theme parks together; but Newsom has done some rather forward trailblazing too

Wouldn't be too surprised if Disney getting a showcased priority to reopen. They've gotten a lot of operational experience with multiple staged reopenings now across their company

Well, you're doing better than Reno. Our rolling 14 day is 250.1. We don't have a positivity number and no specific metrics for opening/closing. Our schools open in 2 weeks with all elementary going full time. Middle and high school are 50/50. All casinos are open too. I wish Sisolek would set similar parameters. If Disneyland can't open with over 100 per 100K, we shouldn't even consider opening our schools. At least Disneyland is mostly outdoors and what is indoors can be either closed or closely monitored for capacity. I keep hoping it will be open for our October trip. Even though OBB is cancelled, that'll mean later hours for DCA. In the meantime, I know we are all watching WDW and their COVID numbers. It seems that there are no spikes due to their reopening. Kudos to the CMs who are enforcing masks and social distancing!

I agree that Disney has proven they have the policies and procedures in place to handle a reopening successfully. But I really don’t see them being singled out to reopen without the guidance for all theme parks to reopen.

I’m guessing if DLR opens this year it will Be toward the end of the year, during the holiday season. People will not stand for not being able to see family and have holiday parties during the holiday season- especially for those who could not see family this entire time( lol the protests and restlessness for haircuts and salons will be nothing compared to what we will see). Social pressure will prompt leniency in Newsom for sure, and that social pressure times ten will be required to have places like DLR open before then, but thankfully people are not willing to/ going to put that pressure on, mainly because people are coming around to the mandates and what not. Just my opinion though- pure conjecture.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but did Newsom ever demand them to close anyway? I feel like the reopening of parks will be just as subtle as the “demand” to close them. He talks about every industry and always conveniently leaves out parks, knowing people are wanting information on that too. I think they will open just as they closed- “on their own terms” and by that I mean, he won’t actually explicitly give guidelines, their opening will signal a shift from one of the phases, just like their closing signaled urgency and “seriousness” of a complete shut down so to speak. I heard somewhere that they were “exempt”? Anyone know where I could have seen that?

I honestly don’t know if they we’re ever ordered closed, I know initially they weren’t but then they all did. But they are officially listed on the reopening as late stage three. We are back to mid-stage 2. They will need guidance to reopen.

I think they already have guidance- everything in CA does -social distance, limited capacity, face mask mandate, and proper cleaning-PPE for workers- but I’m
Thinking the issue lies in the fact that these parks can hold so many more people than 3 Costco’s put together(hyperbole of course, did not do the math lol) even at a limited capacity, so the question becomes, when do we/ can we open something like a theme park with the guidance during a pandemic? Should that many people “gather” so to speak at DLR when there is technically a ban on large gatherings? I hate to admit it, but I can’t see Newsom justifying the opening of the parks when that ban is still in place and numbers are barely just now looking ok. We will see though- he tends to change his tune when pressure mounts

The crazy part about amusement parks -- CA has no official policy guidance published. They specific call out exclusions of the amusement parks to industry guidance and leaves nothing about it specifically

Here's the state's roadmap: again no specific callout on amusement parks, but if you take a 'guess' it'll fall between Phase 3-4. and the wording does really defer to if County has a plan, go with that, and if not, falls back to State. -- So perhaps Orange County + Disney may have something.
