What I am grappling with is that I could get resale points cheaper but having the ability to use those points at Riveria and Disneyland Hotel and any future resorts. The savings may not be big enough to overcome that!

@300+ point level, the current incentive level is very attractive and future proofs the points.

Just added 300 VDH. Incentives and Magical Beginnings brought it to $173.66 PP. couldn’t resist…

I am a CPA and I think I speak for all other CPAs (except that guy on FB) when I say that 56 contracts is too many contracts.

I don't even know how to start to manage 56 contracts .... am I willing to try? No one ever accused me of making sound financial decisions

Just bought 200 Riviera points (direct--w/incentives, came to $171/point--not as good a deal as the Grand Floridian points I bought last August (after incentives they came to $161/point). The resale restrictions were tough to swallow.... But I did (DS and DDIL really really really wanted Riviera points, and I own these points (and my GFV points) with them). So, now I'm at 1.032 points (spread over 11 contracts and 2 memberships at SSR, BCV, VGF and now RR)....Disney has already loaded the points into my account--but the remote notarization isn't til next week and so we haven't yet closed....so don't know if this is yet official....but the credit card charge has already hit, and that's good enough for me to feel like it's official! Let's see; I first joined in 2006, w/150 SSR points....that's 11 contracts in 18 years, with the biggest one being this 200-pointer at RR....yes, yes indeed, addonitis is real!

I intend to use around 800-1000 per year on a 2-3 week trip (2br or larger), so expect to have a few to rent out each year.

That said, I have accumulated 1300 points in under 12 months (some not yet closed), and most of the contracts I bought have been loaded with 22/23 points, so I have done a lot of renting to offset the buy in cost…

We use all our points--to the point where there hasn't been a single year in my 18 years of DVC ownership where I haven't borrowed....running out of points is my usual reason for adding on! I go on my own, with my family, and/or with my "Disney buddies"--averaging out at 3-4 trips/year, usually for a week at a time. I can work from anywhere, so frequently (always?) I'm working while at Disney--some trips work is more "intrusive" than others, but by and large being able to work at Disney is what allows me to go as often as I do. So no complaints.

I use mine all. Never have rented. But I do gift friends and family rooms. I love that I have the points do that so I can share Disney with people that may not go on their own. It seems like every-time my family starts to get tired of going, we have some sort of “magic” on the trip or we do something new to hook them back.

We have never rented out our points. We spend 1 week two to three times per year at WDW or DL generally in 1br or 2 br. We had a bunch of extra points in 2023 from newly acquired contracts and spent 8 nights in a poly bungalow. Our next acquisition will be enough SAP or SAP+ points to stay in one of those for 8 nights every 2-3 years (we were going to do this last year or this year but ended up buying at VGC).
