The Murdaugh Murders

What would have happened if he had not killed his family? I guess he would have ended up in prison for fraud and other crimes associated with the law firm, plus he would be sued for everything he owns. Paul would have done some time but probably not a whole lot since he has a clean record.

I'll bet the estate will be sued and his remaining son will end up with nothing. Unless his mother's parents have money to give him?

He has been indicted on all of the financial crimes and so he will also stand trail for all of those misdeeds as well. I read that the boat crash case did settle in January….I believe going after Maggie’s estate. The families involved did allow Buster to get 500K of that money…..saying that he’d suffered enough.

As for his maternal relatives….it seems like there’s a split there. Maggie’s sister testified for the prosecution. It seems like Buster is continuing to side with his father.

Well, older brother Randy gave first interview with the New York Times. This is part PR move to distance himself and the law group from Alex. But it also feels like more…..that he’s personally turning his back. They haven’t spoken in a year, he says that while he has a hard time imagining his brother gunning Paul and Maggie down….he believes Alex isn’t telling everything he knows about what happened. I wonder if the other siblings will turn too?

Don't live in SC and haven't really followed this case. However, I did find it interesting they reached a verdict one day, sentencing was the next and then he's off to prison. Seems in many other states you can file endless appeals and hope to avoid ever going to jail.

He’s just trying to distance himself from the fallout. But he’s as shady as the rest. Wasn’t he all up in the Stephen Smith murder scene?? Offering the boy's family his services for free?
