Twas The Night Before Elections

:headache: :headache: :headache: :headache: :headache:
Well,... I was going to go on a rant about how I open my mail this morning and now my property taxes have increase 28% starting this January, But I won’t.
I just hope all of you Obama supports are right that he will lessen the tax burden on the middle class, because the Democrats in this sorry state of New Jersey have done NOTHING but raised them and every other thing they get their mitts into.

bagpiper,

I'm from NJ, and i love bagpipes so don't take this the wrong way. But the people of NJ are dumb and should not be allowed to vote. Lautenberg stole his way on the ballot last time and hasn't done a thing for the state. The New Jersey Extotion Association has their mitts everywhere. Do like I did and move the hell out.

I can’t agree with you more. The whole Torricelli/Lautenberg replacement was a slap in the face.
I am trying to get out of the state, but my family is here and the job market for IT blows at this time. I also have 4 wee ones, and that doesn’t make things any easier, but this recent tax hike is getting me more motivated to get a move on.

I would say they are the worst drivers in America, but I don't want to seem prejudiced.

WOW I just read everyones comments on this topic and I must say that reguardless of how this election turned out I am happy to know that at least here on this board I can get an opinion from both sides and not just one now that the election is over!

The day after the election when DH went back to work in the course of 12 hours he found out that at least 75% of the people that he talked to that voted for Obama were so excited about Obama winning & said that they voted for him just to make history! Others voted for the simple reason that Obama was backed by the international firefighter association. What happend to voting on the issues?

I am glad that when I come this board Im not gonna hear a crap reason such as.. I voted for _________________ just to make history or cause and organization I belong to supports that canidate!

I for one voted for Mccain and so did DH and it makes me sick knowing that a large number of people that we know thought that we were Obama supporters cause we are people of color!

All I can do now is pray that things go well and hope for the best for our country.

I voted for McCain. And now, that Obama is my president elect, it is my duty and responsibilty to honor his authority and pray for his leadership. "Country First" President Obama!!

Thank you Jess!!!!!

It has been my point all along, I don't care if he was purple with pink polka dots, we should have been voting on policies and accomplishments, not just to make history. If you close your eyes and don't look at names and color, and solely at what they have done, and what they will do, I think most views would be different.

It sickens me that he probably won the presidency because people voted just to make history, or simply because of the color of his skin!

I ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT STAND HOWARD STERN, but his thing he did interviewing people in NY asking who they were voting for and attributing McCains policies to Obama and they all agreed with every one of them, really told the story of how people were thinking when they voted.

Voting should be blind to color, the choice of who should run this country should be based on who will do the best job. If you take the # of voters who voted based purely on race or just to make history out of the numbers, then america voted overwhelmingly for McCain.

Holy Cow Jess, You are the first Person of Color that I've met that voted for McCain.... not that I know hundreds, nor do I go up to them and ask them because it's none of my business.

The thing that gets me, is the first thing they spoke about when he clinched was his "blackness" if you would. I guess because it was historic, but lets hear about him the man and him the President. I was upset when I heard, not because he is black, but because he has no experience. He's got the toughest job in America right now, and I hope God guides his hand.

and just a bit of jocularity on the state of our nation:

Black Man Given Nation's Worst Job

May 28, 2008

WASHINGTON—African-American man Barack Obama, 47, was given the least-desirable job in the entire country Tuesday when he was elected president of the United States of America. In his new high-stress, low-reward position, Obama will be charged with such tasks as completely overhauling the nation's broken-down economy, repairing the crumbling infrastructure, and generally having to please more than 300 million Americans and cater to their every whim on a daily basis. As part of his duties, the black man will have to spend four to eight years cleaning up the messes other people left behind. The job comes with such intense scrutiny and so certain a guarantee of failure that only one other person even bothered applying for it. Said scholar and activist Mark L. Denton, "It just goes to show you that, in this country, a black man still can't catch a break."

Holy crap Batman! Have you seen his website? He is going to require middle school and high school kids to perform 50 hours of community service and college kids 100 hours. I am all for commumnuty service with incentives but to require it is a bit you know what. All you yutes out there that voted for the Messiah, I mean the One, I mean O'bama, start your community hours now!

Check out the other stuff on his web site. How the heck does he think he going to pay for all this stuff? The cost is going to be Trillions! Man, I think we are really in trouble. You thought the war was expensive? Think again!:scared1:

hey did i just hear him say "stimulus package" again? he said it is certain! woo hoo! more disney money!!! :cool1:

I just checked and I am a person of color, too. I'm sort of a beige. I got darker after my trip to Florida. I don't like being called white. I see too many white people every day - they are dying. You know what? I know a lot of people who voted for Bill Clinton several years ago because they thought he was good looking! Talk about poor reasons to elect somebody. I would never make it as president - I'm an ugly beige guy. But after I read Pete's post above, I don't think I want that job anyway. I think they ought to give Obama a raise for taking on this job, with a bonus if he straightens things out.

Someone here made a comment that if you voted for Obama you were voting for a race and if you voted for McCain you were voting for a female. Therefore, you were either a racist or a sexist.

What about those who voted for Nader?

Can I be a shade of lime green? I have always wanted to be from Mars. :lmao:

Seriously though. I have always thought it more respectful to use the phrase person of color. It just sounds like something that SHOULD be said. It shows you have a brain.
