This will be our third
Disney cruise after doing the Western and Eastern Caribbean cruises on the Fantasy (we were actually on the Fantasy when this itenerary came out so we were super lucky to be able to book it on-board on opening day). It will be our first ever Alaska cruise.
This cruise will be quite a bit more expensive for us on a per day basis than either of our 7 night Fantasy cruises, so we were very happy with the shortened itenerary. Especially, since it will allow us more time to enjoy British Columbia before the cruise.
We plan to fly into Vancouver the Friday morning before the cruise and then spend two nights at Whistler, then two nights at Victoria, followed by a night in Vancouver before the cruise. We vacationed in British Columbia for a week last summer and did a lot of the more touristy stuff, such as the Capiliano Suspension Bridge and Grouse Mountain.
Our favorite British Columiba attractions were Butchart Gardens and Stanley Park (renting bikes to ride around the sea wall) and we plan to do both of those again on this trip. We'll also probably do the Peak to Peak gondola ride in Whistler, which we skipped last time.
As long as the exchange rate remains favorable, we'll probably splurge a bit on hotels this time around (plan to stay at the Pan Pacific in Vancouver, the Fairmont Chateau in Whister, and a botique hotel in downtown Victoria called the Magnolia). Last time, we stayed mostly in suite hotels with kitchens that were actually less expensive than the above. In that regard, if anyone is considering spending some time in Stanley Park before the cruise and doesn't want to shell out the big bucks to stay near the cruise terminal may I suggest a hotel called Time Square Suites. While not a luxury hotel, it's clean, well-maintained, reasonably priced, and within easy walking distance of Stanley Park (and on the same block as a bike rental place) with kitchens and washer/dryers in each suite.
