Disney's ALL-STAR SPORTS RESORT Information & Questions

Can someone please answer a few questions for me about ASsp? I am a little unsure about staying here. My DD and I are booked for 2 weeks (11/18-12/2). Originally we were booked for a preferred room at POP, but when free dining came out I could only get it a ASsp (standard room). I noticed there is some sort of soccer event at ESPN and was wondering what kind of impact that would have here? Do the bus stops have the signs with bus times on them? Are the standard rooms far from the bus stops/food court? How is the food court compared to POP/AOA? Sorry for all the questions, but we have only stayed at either POP/AOA before and I am a little nervous about staying here.

We stayed at Sports last summer (June). I can answer a question or two. The bus stops did not have signs with times on them. The distance of the room will depend pretty widely on which room you get, but based on Google Earth, the most distant rooms at Pop and AoA are farther than the most distant rooms at Sports. In other words, rooms should be closer at Sports on average.

I'm not sure what impact a group will have. It probably varies group to group. I've heard some people complain about groups, and others have commented about how respectful and quiet other groups were. Luck of the draw I suppose.

We only used the food court for drinks and ice cream, and I've never been to Pop or AoA, but you can always check out the menu for Sports here: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/all-star-sports-resort/end-zone-food-court/menus/ The food court seemed clean and had plenty of room.

Someone else will likely be able to answer other questions more specifically.

Can you fax a room request to the resort?
Also what is the best area to request for a standard room?
I would like to be close to food court and buses.

Thanks in advance!!!

Is it possible to get a king size bed at All Star Sports? I called and was told all the rooms were double except the ADA ones and I could only have an ADA room if I physically required one. I thought this seemed odd as I used to work at a hotel where all our rooms that were king sized were ADA but that didnt mean ADA only, it was just cheaper to build the rooms that way so that we always had ADAs on hand. Is this the new policy or should I call back and try to get a different CM? I don't want to take away a room from someone who needs it, but this seems odd to me as I had heard this hotel did have kings.

Yes you can. Although you can't book one, it's only a request.

I don't know if they are all ADA, but most are. But it is 100% incorrect that you have to physically require one.

That is how WDW handles them.

Call and add a request for a King room to your reservation. If the Phone CM gives you a hard time, hang up and call back.

Thank you! I thought that was odd! Some CMs can be really unfriendly and some can be like fairy godmother. Completely hit or miss.

First, I'm obviously blind as a bat. We were there for a week, and I don't remember seeing this. We rope dropped every day so maybe we were just too focused on getting in line, but I'm really surprised I missed this. Where are they? After a quick google search, it looks like these were installed in 2015. Holy cow. We did notice the ones at AKL.

Thanks for the correction. I should probably know what I'm talking about before I answer questions. :-) Apologies to the original question asker.

At the All-Star resorts these screens are mounted under the covered area, which is fairly separated behind the A L L S T A R letters and away from the queue areas, so I can understand missing them if you go directly to each bus line area. At All-Star Music I exited the main building going to the bus area and I felt like I had to turn all the way around as I looked for where the bus boards were.

Got it. I had to do a bit of googling before I found what looked like a screen behind those giant letters (your post confirms it). I'll be sure to look for them on the next go-round. Thanks.

Does anyone know if all the rooms in both Touchdown buildings are now preferred? Last time I stayed there, they were standard. I plan on staying there this August and I'm trying to figure out what my room request should be in order to be close as possible to main building/transportation. Thanks!

All of Touchdown is preferred. I requested Home Run, building closest to Touchdown and it was great! We could walk towards the parking lot and around to the main building that way or across the other parking lot to Music and use their food court. It was an easy walk to the front thru the resort also.

14 days until we're back in our happy place! I put in a request for Homerun Hotel facing the pool and I'm keeping my fingers crossed we get it. Our son is a HUGE baseball fan and we put the request in for our May 2015 trip but didn't get it. He specifically asked to stay at ASSports again just so we could stay "in the baseball hotel". Hopefully we can make that happen!

We were at ASSp over these dates in 2016. There were soccer teams staying there, but we didn't notice them around the resort grounds much, if at all. We don't frequent the food court, but the one night we ate there, it was very crowded. We must have arrived not too long after the soccer teams came back for the day, as many of the kids were still in their uniforms. The lines were long, long, long! If we hadn't been at the park all day, I would have gone somewhere else, but we were past the point of going back out by then. It is your basic food court. AOA has more choices and better food. I've stayed at POP, but the food court didn't make much of an impression. (I think we walked over to AOA, honestly.) This trip was our first stay at ASSp and our first value stay as a family. My kids loved it and would prefer going back to ASSp over any of the moderates we've been to (we've stayed at Coronado, Riverside, and CBR). Grandma and Grandpa were with us too, and they liked it as well. I'm not sure they would pick it over the moderates, though. They did have a king room, so that was nice.

My parents had a king room adjoining our double room in Touchdown. I don't recall it being ADA, but I can't swear to that. We didn't request it, and I was surprised to see it.

May I ask how you put in a request? My husband is a huge hockey fan and I think it would be neat to stay in that hotel.

Call the Main Reservations line and ask the CM to add a request to your reservation. This can be done anytime from the day you book up until 4-5 days before you arrive.

Oh that's super easy! Thanks so much!
