Harvey Weinstein

Sounds like you are blaming the victims with this post.

Well having been raped by my boss, and then pregnant with his child I would not be thanking him in a public forum buts that's just me. That's all I will say on this subject.

What does this have to do with what I posted?

Haven't read all the posts, but here are my observations ..

I'm not an Angelina Jolie fan, but am very impressed that after she was harassed by him, she put her money where her mouth is, and chose to never work with him again.

Gwenyth Paltrow - "was" harassed, and later thanked him in her Oscar speech.

Many of the other accusers are B list or less actresses... are they that because they didn't give in to him, and didn't get roles that would have catapulted them into fame?

Haven't noticed him being roasted by late night TV... :rolleyes1

And the actress shown with Ben Affleck has spoken out, saying what is being shown was all an act. They are actors, after all.
Not a big follower of who did what to who re:actors so I'll keep my comments to the bold section.
You have to stay up later at night;)
Excerpted from the NYT:

"Last week, an investigation published by The New York Times revealed decades’ worth of harassment allegations against Mr. Weinstein. But in the days immediately afterward, many late-night comedy programs ignored the scandal, including “S.N.L.” The show had prepared some jokes about Mr. Weinstein for its Oct. 7 broadcast but did not use them; a person familiar with preparations for the episode said that the material played poorly in a dress rehearsal and that the Weinstein story was regarded as possibly unfamiliar to a wide national audience."

If you can't figure it out then never mind. Done.

Seriously I don't get what your experiences have to do with me saying it sounded like the other poster was blaming the victims.

Is that hard for you to explain?

Not at all.

Blame the Hollywood culture, perhaps - as it was the way the business operated, and continue (d? s?) to afterward.

Should they have continued to work with him - and publicly praise him - after being attacked/harrassed ? Most people would say no.

To me this sounds like you are blaming them. I agree that people who knew should have said something. It would have been great if people who had been harmed by him had come forward but there is no way in the world I would blame them for not.

And I still have no idea why Sabeking quoted me.

I will disagree and say it's our culture in general. "Hollywood" is just a "microcosm with bling" of everyday life which I suppose is why so many follow it avidly.
If you are a woman here at sometime somebody harassed you. It's just that simple. If your choices are I got bills to pay and work near or for a lecherous idiot more often than not you WILL continue to pay bills and sort out the WTH happened later.
OR
you'll fall apart mentally and allow them to stop you that way.
Read an article about a female steelworker recently. Her way of dealing with on the job sexism was simple: if a co worker put out a fraudulent story that she slept with him, she put out her own spin saying that he was "inadequate" and not worth the time. Not my way but I admire her chutzpah.

I didn't see him blaming anyone (IMO) - though Gwenyth was stuck between a A ROCK AND A ....
It was that's companies movie.

I didn't see it that way. I think the poster was asking a legit question. Why are celebrities who were sexually harassed by Weinstein thanking him in their post harassment speeches? That's not blaming them, that's asking a very legit question. To me it sounds like they thanked him because they wanted to continue working with him, despite the harassment. You see it differently?

EXACTLY, doesn't take a mental giant to figure that out!

So is this where South Park steps in? They are beholden to no one and don't care. This is why I watch them sometimes.

DGD lives with us at times so I had to give up my regular diet of South Park, Breaking Bad (thank goodness for re-runs) and various forms of the "Dead".
By the way...is Kenny still dead?

Kenny was revived from the dead many seasons ago and they do not kill him off anymore.

Just looked them up and yep, they are digging at Hollywood in their South Park way. I did watch them last season, which was crazy. I have not watched this season, might have to catch up.

Thanks for the heads up:D

OMG I watched this recently again just to laugh.

If you want a great recent interview, go on the podcast, The Nerdist with Chris Hardwick. He interviews Trey Parker on Jun 30 2017. It is a great listen for fans. It is very candid and if you have never listened to "The Nerdist" be careful you might fall in love with the podcast.

Maybe it was just the little sarcastic face after the Paltrow line that had e confused.

I don't see them thanking him because they wanted to continue to work with him but rather to continue to work, and that is a big part of the problem.
