Disney Gift Card Deals

I'm pretty sure it was a Disney Gift Card discount. Or any brand of Gift Card discount. I know it wasn't just Target Gift Cards. I bought over $2000 worth of Disney Cards. I know I didn't buy Target Gift Cards and then use them to buy Disney Gift Cards. And I got more than 5% off because I waited for Dec to do it, otherwise I could have just done it at any time with my Red Card.

Is there any other way I would have gotten more than 5% off on Gift Cards in 2015? It's driving me crazy trying to figure it out.

I don't know, maybe I did buy them with 10% discounted Target Gift cards. I bought them online so maybe that's why I don't recall it being a hassle. :confused3
In 2015 I thought they had the buy two $25 (or $50) Disney (and other brand) gift cards, get a $5 gift card.

if you're worried about target draining GCs, simply transfer one GC to a new GC. problem solved.
you can purchase a new GC at self checkout, register or customer service.
Do you have to have an physical gift card to transfer the new target e-gift cards or can I transfer them to an old target e-gift card number? And would I do this on the target website? That is where I still have some old empty e-gift card numbers still loaded. Thanks!

Not quite OT - but CNBC is doing some packages this morning on how gift cards are “fueling” the opioid crisis. Now, they aren’t using the system legally, of course, but it could very well impact the legal GC industry. The way it works for the addicts is that they steal an item, then return it for a gift card, and then purchase their drugs with the GC (of course for a drastically reduced value - sometimes as little as .25 on the dollar). The dealers then sell the GCs through Raise, Cardpool, etc.

Home Depot is now changing their system so that refunds are only issued as same-store, in-store merchandise credits which are linked to the returner’s personal information, such that in order to use it, you have to provide your DL.

It’s a HUGE, costly problem for these retailers, not to mention the social responsibility aspect. And as I said before, at this point it seems to only be associated with returns as described above. But, I think it’s important to be aware of this and consider how it may impact the overall GC industry.

That is really interesting. My daughter told me WalMart has changed their return policy, from previously quite liberal, to nothing without receipt. Seems like she said something else too. I'll bet that is why. They also quit price matching. I am really surprised they did it so long, although I only used it twice, because I never remembered they did it.

Years ago, I worked at a retail store that allowed returns without a receipt and the policy was to refund cash for any amount under $20. We had so many people that would literally grab an item off of the shelf and put it into a bag and then claim to be returning it. We weren't supposed to question them, just process the return. It was amazing to see how many people would use our store as an ATM:mad:. We did have to see their ID and write down their address so I assume that corporate was tracking their returns. It's possible that something was being done on the back end (I doubt it) but we were not allowed to do anything except follow them closely once we saw them walk in. If we saw them actually take an item and stash it in a bag, we could call mall security. Usually, we never actually saw it, but we knew exactly what was going on. Sometimes, the items they were "returning" were things we'd just put out on the sales floor that morning so we knew they were not legitimate purchases.

While buying the last of my Disney Gift Cards (11 @ $100 and 1 @ $50), a Apple card, and a Starbucks card, in self-check, a cashier walked up to me...

Cashier: Are you using a red card?
Me: No. I'm using these. (Indicating 4 Target Cards)
Cashier: Well, you can save 5% if you use your Red Card.
Me: Yes, but I got these on Sunday at 10% off. (smiling)
Cashier: OH! You know how to save! (Walks away laughing)

So at least in the greater Nashville, TN area there has been no hassle.

I wish I knew if the deal was going to be available this year. I want to get all these Target GCs converted to Disney, but I'll wait if that deal is available.

So the ad scan for Target next week does have a block of Gift Cards advertised, however, the scan I saw didn't have any offer (or really any text) that went with it. I guess just advertising the types of cards they have this year. But, I know in the past some of the deals were regional because my region never seemed to get them :) When someone here would mention a discount or free gift card with gift card purchases, I'd check my ad and either I wouldn't even have the picture or the cards would be shown but no sale for them. So maybe someone will get lucky Sunday?

Does the Discover cash back for Target include gift cards? I just got the card (too late for the 10% Target gc deal :( ) but I'm hoping to get Disney cards with the quarterly bonus plus the first year bonus.

Yes. Anything you buy in Target will work. I'm trying to decide how to use up the rest of my quarterly bonus. I don't need Disney right now, and I'm not sure I want to sit on a pile of Target cards.

I'm pretty sure that in 2015 you could stack the 5% off Target pharmacy rewards (which was awarded for every 5 prescriptions that you filled) with the Red Card 5%, even on gift cards.

I held off last year but I converted right away this year. With my luck they’ll run the promo again!

Green Monday sale @ Target.com, save $20 for every $100 you spend. Anyone know if Disney gc's will be eligible?

I would guess it has the same restrictions as the 20% off coupon (i.e., if it's something you want besides groceries, it's not included--like video games, Nintendo, gift cards, go pro, etc.)

For those who still keep coke caps I just got an email that you can get a $5 Target card for entering 5 codes. I used a bunch of mine for the amazon offer, but I think I might still have some lying around.
Took me awhile to find this (it didn't show right up). But thank you!!!

Ooh, could you please share where you found it? It's a pretty handy thing to have and I Was also looking to see if the instant pot was on sale next week, lol. The other target ad link someone posted for the 2015 deal being discussed above links can also link to current sakes but still only has this week.

Yikes, wouldn't be surprised if someone in local management was using that as their own ATM as well!

I bought mine at Kohl's. It's ridiculously priced (like everything at Kohl's) but it was on sale and I had a 30% off coupon. It brought it down to less than $70.
