I'm still waiting on two CF referral bonuses to post. Has anyone gotten those lately? I'm waiting on one from two weeks ago, and one from this past week. My next statement close date is 9/28.
Still waiting on a csr bonus. It’s been about 3-4 weeks since approval.

My statement closed 9/13. I've been checking every day since then and this morning was the first time I've seen them. So I guess we're either looking at around 30 days out, or a couple days after statement close? Either way, they're not posting WITH the statement close date, that's for sure.
Your post prompted me to check DH's CSR. Met MSR on 8/22 and points are pending as of today. The statement closes next week. Finally.

So I sent my email off to my TA to book my Disney trip tonight. It's a weird feeling this time...normally I am super pumped when we book the trip. It's the culmination of a lot of research/ideas, etc. This year...it's just strange. I know we are getting a good deal but with the UR rug pulled out from under me for now I have to say I'm a little frustrated. I didn't plan to book this trip today...and I didn't plan to book it this way. It's like I'm on Plan C or D at this point...

Anyways - I figured I'd vent to my group here because anybody I'd say this to at work would look at me like I'm nuts...
"You're going to Disney...AND staying at 2 of their top resorts...AND it's technically not costing you any money...AND this is your 17th trip...AND you're frustrated???? SHUTUP!!" LOL!!

At any rate - hopefully they get the UR situation remedied. In the interim, I have rooms I can live with and a backup strategy on how to make the trip free...(Boy it will be hard for me to actually pull the trigger on cashing out $3k+ in URs though!!)

congrats on getting your trip booked. Always exciting even if it is plan C. But my question is..you are booking through a TA, were you able to do that before this change? I thought that I had to book it myself and then call the Touring Department. So trying to look at the bright side I figure at least cashing out I will be able to use a TA and let them worry about fast passes etc. No chance for me to forget or mess it up. Our trip is the end of April so I could wait but we are doing a split stay. rented DVC for the first time and dont want to take a chance of messing that up. So I am going to book today, fingers crossed, that I can make all the dates coincide. As always Thanks for all the help!!

another wwyd question involving (yet another) friend with some questions(not kidding, they all ask at once it seems) now I'm hestitating before I rec. Chase (esp till I hear if people ar getting their points bonuses)
****young couple- mid twenties, has their own business for about a year (a real one) use a debit card for the business(!) and wife has one cc opened in 7/16 (don't know brand, could be swa) I don't know credit score yet- she pays rent thru venmo tho.
she's looking for SWA points, I sent her to read some stuff, she came back asking about the cp. I'd like to see her DH open a biz card of some sort- how would they fill that app out,and which one to start them off?probably by next week..... if her DH did a swa biz app now, she could still get one in jan, right?
Since she's focused on SWA I naturally thought of chase - for her the swa biz+ pers for the cp dec/jan is a no brainer..before then tho....what order is recommended? I love the csp for newbs where would that fit in?
I'd like to lay out a few cards for her to go for(depending on cs of course) and would LOVE some input!
(disclaimer, I realize lots of things up in the air currently,I will be explaining that also, just need some pointers) thanks!

I would actually suggest the CIP as their first business card, because:

1. They have an actual business. If they own the business together, the couple could get two CIPs, with one getting it first, then referring the other for a referral bonus and the other getting another CIP.

How they would fill in the application depends on how they’ve organized their business. Is it a sole proprietorship that the husband owns and the wife just works as an employee? Is it a partnership? LLC? Corporation? Do they have an EIN for the business? Where do they run the business? In its own storefront/office or out of their home?

2. Wife pays rent through Venmo! Currently, Venmo is still coding 3x UR on the payment and fee. Venmo charges a 3% fee when paying with credit cards, but (like Plastiq previously) paying with the CIP and earning 3x UR back negates the fee and puts you a smidge ahead. [ETA: this could really boost their UR stash. BUT FAIR WARNING, the way things code could change at any time, and Venmo could start coding for only 1x UR very suddenly, without notice.]

3. The CIP’s 80k URs and any URs they accumulate can be transfered to SW RR points, although they don’t count for CP.

4. We’re in mid-September, and it’s a little too early to be recommending comfortably going for the CP for 2019-2020, unless they want the CP ASAP. The SW Biz card offers 60k RR points after spending $3k/3 months. If they’re going to be using this card for business, rent, and whatever else, I really think they could blow through that $3k MSR in a month (since the point is to get them off debit and on to credit), and their 60k RR would post maybe in November or December. If they wait until October or November to get a second SW personal card, those points may not post until December or January. You know to get the CP, all 110k RR points have to post in the same year. Your couple needs to understand that the 110k RR points need to post in the same year, and to time their opening of and spending on the SW cards accordingly. With Chase delaying the posting of signup bonuses, I couldn’t tell you for certain when the bonuses will post. There would seem to be less room for error going for the SW Biz and personal cards in November or December to start their CP next year.

If they get a CIP now, that person could also go for a SW Biz in about 3 months, or mid- to late-December. Then go for a SW personal card in January.

5. You’re asking about the husband getting the SW Biz now and the wife getting one in January? One what? Another SW Biz? For what purpose? Just the points? If they’re just a couple, no kids, I would think they should tag team and designate one spouse to go for the CP for 2019-2020 (the husband), and then the wife should stay in reserve for the CP in two years for 2021-2022. The SW cards have terms that restricts bonuses to 24 months (and who knows if Chase will change that to 48 months). If the wife goes for the SW Biz and SW personal just for the points when her husband already has the CP, she may not be able to get these cards when it’s time for her to get the CP. (And it seems you think she may already have a SW personal card. The one SW personal card rule would disqualify her from opening another card as long as that card is open and for 24 months after she got the bonus on that card.)

I’ll defer to my more knowledgeable SW flying, CP chasing colleagues, but I’d think that if the wife wants SW points AND the CP, they both should focus on getting URs that can transfer to SW RRs, let her husband get the CP the first time around and save room for the wife to get the CP next time around.

In-app. The message pops on my iPhone from RMN. I'm going to have to see what happens with DH's since I have myself logged into the app on my phone so I might have to logout and login with his username and PW to verify that the offer took. You should have received emails though when you linked the offer.
see now b/c I'm a little old school and cheap I have to remember to turn the data on for RMN before I head out to shop, and I have notifications turned off(bc I hate notifications) so I just go in and check my wallet when I leave the store.(stupid kohls!)

Trying to catch up again. This moves so quickly!!

I got charged with my $95 annual fee for my CitiBank TY Premier cards (one for DH, one for me). I'm going to have to keep DH's for now because DD2 is studying abroad in Australia and it's the card she's using and I really don't have a good way to get another card to her.

But, I'd like to either cancel mine unless there's a card to change to. I really see no need for me to keep it, but it is the only Citi card that I have. I'm going to transfer my remaining points to DH's card before I do anything.

Just wondered thoughts on cancelling or product changing my card (or if I'm missing some other option).

Thanks!

I am a little behind so don't know if others have posted, but my 50,000 bonus points for CSP are now pending!! Met spend on 8/27, statement closed 9/13, so I will get them on the 2nd statement after meeting the spend.

My husband thinks I'm crazy and has jokingly suggested that he may have to start limiting my screen time so I don't get anymore ideas, but I convinced him to let me open a PNC savings for him to meet the spend on his SW Biz. So with that spend out of the way I applied for the SW Biz on Friday..still at 30 days. I am hoping that if that is approved in the next few months the offer for the personal will go up to 50k and I can get the companion pass. He will already have one for 2019 after his points post. If the current offer stays at 40k the only option to get the CP is putting 10k spend and earn the points that way, correct? CP or not, it is not too big of a deal as with 5 in our family we won't fly more than 2-3 times per year anyway.

Thanks for all the help!!

Yeah, if the offer appears again in your listing and you can link it, it can be done again. I did the last Walgreens (only $5 back on $50+) twice, though I'm still waiting for the second one to move to approved.
just be sure to link the offer again before you use it.... once you get the cashback you can usually do it again!

Another question on RMN - I've been using it and love the ease of it, but am looking into adding an account for DH.

Can I just create an account for him on my phone, or do I need to have him do it on his phone?

Also, is there a monthly limit for these transactions? Seems I've read that they've started a limit on the number of cash back offers you can do in a month, but I can't find anything official about it.

Thanks!

I am so sorry! I went to battle last year on my husbands Delta Platinum Business because they didn't want to give him the bonus. Multiple live chats over months a couple phone calls (which were exceedingly painful as he had to be there since it was his card) and nothing worked. This was before the pop ups started and we clearly had made the spend without cash equivalents etc. Long story short Only thing that finally worked is I opened up a Twitter account for him and addressed it that way. We did get the miles but it was not even listed as courtesy points.

If you don't have the energy for that I honestly would just let it go and right off your DH and Amex. Do you have any reason really to keep the card? I wouldn't want to deal with it out of spite. At this point I might just focus on yourself and your relationship with them. That is pretty much where I am at now. Maybe later I will try again with him but I think he is clearly on their list for no real reason. In fact, we both got the SPG personal at the same time in April 2017. He had put a ton of spend on the card (a lot more than I have) and I got the 100k offer to upgrade to the Lux and he has gotten nothing.

Yeah. Don't think I will be fighting it, especially since it is DH's card and he has no idea what even goes on with all the cards. Most of them I never even give to him. At least it was only $1000 put on the card and not more. I did get the $100 Airline Reimbursement and will probably keep card and get the $100 in 2019 too. Not sure if will try and keep putting some spend on the card to keep in good graces or not...

#'s 4&5.....(btw thank you!!!) I know all about the Cp rules etc...so we're good there, I was thinking having her(or DH) go for cp starting late December so it'll be for two years. #1- I will ask about the biz, if it's sole, would it go DH gets Cip, then refers DW? -Oh why would it be better fo DH to get the CP first,vs. the DW?

ok- DH owns biz solely, has it's own tax#(ein?) DW does the paperwork so technically could call herself an employee to app for CIP? if this is the case, would they do DH first as sole owner, then he can refer her?

Are you flying soon..there is an inflight offer for 50,000....if not yes you need to get another 10k via spend...you can also do your online shopping through the RR portal to earn points.

Just make sure you earn all 110,000 points in the same calendar year..to get the CP

There is an expiration on transferred TY points. I can't remember exactly what the time limit is, but it isn't long - you maybe have only 30-60 days to use transferred TY points on the new account before they expire. Citi tends to be generous with retention offers from what I read, and it tends to be enough to cover or at least offset the fee. I would call and ask what your options are for keeping it open. Plus, if you want more TY points down the line, you'll reset your 24-month clock by closing.

That’s how I’d apply....he can also get an employee card for her on his account.....

Flights from Alaska in Sep are really wacky :) Most carriers want to send you to a hub no matter where your ultimate destination is, so some are kinda weird. Like American, ANC > SFO area sends you to DFW first. Um, yeah that's half way home for me, that doesn't seem worthwhile  Actually was finding really odd routings for other legs too. I think the best for the SFO > PHL leg, but I forget the carrier, was San Jose(SJC) > Orange County(SNA) > SFO, then to PHL. I guess mileage runs are still a thing as there's really no reason for that

I was just looking at this since we're going back next summer. Does Alaska Airlines fly into PHL? I found I could do ANC to Seattle to IAD for 20K, with a stopover in Seattle.

The CIP looks like one of the best cash back reward cards.

This is allowed? Is this the better card to go with than a CSP or Capital One Savor? I’m looking for a decent cash bonus but also continued rewards and 0 foreign transaction fees. I am also looking into the Discover rewards for the first year double your rewards offer. We pay our cards off each month and currently use a Marriott rewards and a Disney Visa. Both have served well, but neither offer a 0 foreign transaction fee, at least I don’t think they do??

Welcome to the thread!

Your Marriott card should have a 0 FTF. Did you get the new one, or upgrade to a new one, or keep an old one? The Disney Visa appears to have a 3% FTF. Discover is 0 FTF, but is not widely accepted internationally, so that feature is mostly useless. However, the double-your-rewards the first year sure is nice and if you shop at Amazon, getting 10% cash back for Q4 is great (though limited to $1500 of spend).

The CIP is notable for its substantial sign up bonus, and its ongoing category spending bonus is nice depending on if they are categories you use a lot (travel, shipping, internet, phone, cable, social media advertising) and each UR is worth $.01 unless you redeem it for travel through the UR portal, then you get $.0125 thus making your 80K signup bonus worth $1000.

Between it and the CSP, the CIP is better to get since it has the higher sign up bonus and won't report to your personal credit report. MSR of $4000, $95 AF waived first year are the same. I'm assuming that you are under 5/24? Is there a reason you're not looking at the CSR?

Since both CSP and Savor offer dining as a bonus category, I'm also guessing that dining out is a big category in your budget and that's why you're interested in those cards. If that assumption is correct, I would suggest the Barclay Uber Visa as a possibility. The sign up bonus is $100 for $500 spend, 0 AF, 0 FTF, 4% dining, 3% travel, 2% online. I'm not a huge fan of Barclay but their PIN & Chip cards are handy for international travel and if you have great credit and are under 6/24, then you should be ok getting a card from them.

Barclay's Arrival Plus is another card you may want to consider. $600 sign up bonus for $5K MSR, 2.05% everywhere, 0 FTF, $89 AF.

Lots of good choices out there!
