New Disney Ships: News, Rumors, Speculation.....and Names!

I just checked Meyer Werft's order book and the 1st DCL ship is now listed as Winter 2021 from what was previously Spring 2021 if I recall correctly. I had a copy of the order book saved previously but cannot find it right at the moment.
So what hypothesis do you have for ship 6 based on those dates?

It got me thinking if Disney would do any character themed restaurants for the new ships ... something frozen related.
YAS!! Frozen themed!

I found a couple of online versions. Spring of 21 would put it Aprilish, and a winter 21 could be earlier (as opposed to later, similar to the Fantasy which came in a week earlier,)also as in Jan or Feb. It is possible that its December 21 but I'd still lean towards Jan-March of 21 which is DCL past practice.

yeah i think i can see that since Odyssey just had her keel laid, Aida skipped in front of Disney and has there 2nd ship of the Helios class scheduled for delivery in spring 2021, which would mean a fall to winter delivery for Disney Ship number 5.

DCL is flanked by Iona ships. They cut the steel for the 1st the 2nd is supposed to be behind nb5. I'll have to back and find my spreadsheet but I had it worked out for who's in what spot in line based on published dates.

What about the people who don't like Mexican, or Asian, or Middle Eastern foods?
And I would be one of those. :o But they'd be interesting and different. Maybe if there were "regular" items on the menus for those of us with 'sensitive palates', it'd work out.

How about Indian food with a Jungle Book theme? I surprised myself because I loved Disney's remake. Oh, no snakes in the decor, though.

Well, they already did it with southern cuisine and Tiana's Place. Considering the vast majority of kitchen staff are Asian, you could bet that whatever Asian cuisine they choose, it will be awesome.

What about the people who don’t like French or New American food?
Same.

I was going to say especially Middle Eastern. Given that the 2 restaurants in Morocco are almost always available for ADRs even last minute, I don’t think it’s nearly as popular as some seem to.

There was a news feed a while back from Port Canaveral saying the first new ship will dock there in fall 2021. I don't know if they were supposed to let that slip but its out there. I don't have a link to it but if I remember correctly it had to do with the announcement of expanding Port Canaveral.

YES! I would love to see Turkish, Moroccan, or similar food. They already have similar food some nights on the menu.
I agree. My concern, though, is that what makes those cuisines so great is the spices (not necessarily the heat, but the flavor). DCL is great at toning down the spice to the point it's hardly recognizable. I don't mind the food overall, but it really doesn't matter what it's called from one menu to the next, it generally all tastes the same to me.

Oh I hear you. But my little Turkish-American daughter noticed the notes enough nights that she was very happy and told the Turkish head of house (what are they called) how it reminded her of Baba's cooking. Maybe we'll bring our own little baggies of mints, cumin, and garlic powder if they do a restaurant like this. ;-)

The order book has all three listed for Winter of their respective years 2021, 2022, and 2023. How that will shake out, we will have to wait and see.
Saw that also. This is just me but it depends on what definition of winter spring etc they are using. If they are going by qtrs that may start say dec1st might explain the winter/spring as opposed to the traditional seasons were used to.

The only reason I'm leaning towards 4th qtr is because they are at the bottom of the year list after all the "spring, april, may, etc...". I'm hoping for sooner rather than later but based on the way they are grouping them makes me think later. We shall see I suppose.

Then they eat elsewhere that evening

Just the same as if people don’t like the current American options

If I had one criticism of the MDR options is theyre overly American & not very adventurous

I’d love to see themed nights with themed food, Asian, Middle Eastern, Mexican, Japanese, would be fantastic

Where do you find the "order book?

The Papenburg tourism office has a list of new ships being built. There they have the first Disney ship for Spring 2021, the second for 2022 and the third for fall 2023.

They have a close working relationship with Meyer Werft (they sell the tickets for the tours as well as plenty of souvenirs), so their info should be correct. However, who knows how good they are at updating in case timelines change.
