Take the pledge to continue to wear a mask during the Covid - 19 pandemic

well, I guess I am all the terrible things previous posters have said about people not wearing a mask. I don't wear one, my wife and kids don't wear one. I own a business and don't require one for my employees or customers and we eat out all the time and none of our restaurants require one, not even for the employees though a few do wear one (personal choice). The total number of confirmed cases in Barrow County is 681 to date. I'm not one to say people should or should not wear one and we will wear a mask if we visit a place that requires them and will if our state or county mandates it. As long as it's a choice, I will choose not to wear one.

For me, I’ll add, that being asked to wear a mask would get better results than someone trying to mandate it. If mandated, I’ll wear it under my noise, just covering my chin, adjusting it, and removing it often, etc.
When I am asked. I complied, respected that request, and wore it the entire time.

Yes, it has. For the past 240 years....

In colonial times, people did not understand germs and bathed (if you were poor) very little. Penicillin was not a thing until the 1940's. Ignaz Semmelweis (Hungarian scientist) in the 1800's discovered that doctors washing your hands before helping a woman give birth lowered the chance of the mother and child from dying from infection. Imagine a doctor eating food and not washing their hands before surgery today. Seriously all moms and dads out there should thank Semmelweis for his findings. His theory was not accepted until after his death. If his theory was accepted back then how many Civil War soldiers could have been saved from infection by their doctors actions? My point point is that if any difference can be made to help the public by the public then every effort should be made period. Not just when 1 out of 320,000,000
people feel like it. I wonder how anyone's ancestors would feel about how some have responded during this crisis if they saw how some of there descendants acted, if those same ancestors at some point went through a pandemic themselves and they themselves acted responsibly. :scratchin 😷

While I agree with what you are saying, where is the line drawn then? Asking is great but if it is ignored what is the next step then? Genuinely curious.

Your county has a population of roughly 90,000 people.

Seems to be less densely populated than other places.

There is about enforcing it, getting the manpower for it, the ramifications of it. You need a national task force, with manpower and money and legal power to do so. I know it sounds simple but it's not. The act of wearing a mask is simple that's for sure though :)
And they can’t enforce all the laws we already have. Ftr I’m. Not against wearing a mask and my state is doing well because of them

The whole data around masks is conflicting. There is no concrete scientific data on masks. Cloth masks are only 3% successful, the higher end surgical makes are only 56% successful. Use common sense, wear a mask when needed, continue to practice proper hygiene and leave Americans to make the best decisions for themselves.
I'll point out the obvious ~ leaving Americans to do what is 'right' has put us in the hole we're currently in. As we've all seen, there are many people who refuse to do the right thing and be decent humans. And they're screwing it up for the rest of us.

Point proven.

Oh my. I guess I hope the request is cautiously and carefully parsed in a way that finds your favor.

the city where I live just started to mandate masks. I take a Zumba class through the Rec dept. first week we were in the gym with no windows AC or fans and almost passed out. Last week we were in the cafeteria and the air was on. It wasn’t on high but there was a difference now next week we have to wear a mask. Thst should really be good. They limited class size to only 9. Last week we only had 5. Would have been 6 but my friend forgot. So there would be plenty of room to social distance.

Hope you and your family stay safe - but I'll be staying far away from your county, that's for certain.

Yes, thank goodness Milwaukee finally passed a mask ordinance. I wish it would go state-wide.

I'll ask... what's your reasoning for not wearing a mask?

I'll point out the obvious ~ leaving Americans to do what is 'right' has put us in the hole we're currently in. As we've all seen, there are many people who refuse to do the right thing and be decent humans. And they're screwing it up for the rest of us.

I pulled up to wal mart Monday, they had a sign out front that they were testing for COVID inside. Not sure bringing all those people that think they have it and are probably sick into a grocery store is the best decision. I’m sure those in charge of us Americans that can’t be left to make our own choices about what is right, thought this was a good idea though.
I turned around and went elsewhere.

I'll ask... what's your reasoning for not wearing a mask?
A couple reasons; the hypocrisy, the ever changing suggestions, I don’t believe a mask will help, I don’t think it’s more contagious than other viruses. Are we going to start mandating masks during flu season?
Someone earlier asked where the line is. Well where is it? Are you going to go along if they make a vaccine mandatory?
