Need the big brains here:

Currently I have an offer on the BBP for Staples- get 10% back up to $40.

I need Disney Gift Cards for my upcoming trip.

I'd rather order the cards online instead of having to physically go track them down, and I see that there is a slight surcharge for that, so for $400 worth of GCs the total is $407.96. Theoretically I should get $40 back so total expenditure would be $400 worth of gift cards for $367.96.

  1. Is my math correct?
  2. Do any of you have experience with buying these online from Staples, and does it in fact "credit" on your Amex?
  3. Is this actually a good deal, or am I better off buying Disney GC's at Target for only 5% off but I have to use my regular Target debit so don't get any points/UR's/CR's anywhere for the purchase?

I do NOT have an MSR right now on any card.

What would you do?
I would test the water with one order purchase to make sure it triggers the offer. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work...

OK I did it with one card (thank you for the suggestion) and will keep an eye out. I did get the confirmation email from Amex but of course it says "IF" your transaction meets the terms you'll be credited, etc.

I called my closest Staples and they only have the $50 Disney GC's in stock right now, so I'd rather pay a little bit for online ordering rather than go down there, since it's out of my usual path.

should work. i bought a couple of Home Depot GCs from staples.com. You also dont need to buy the max as if just says 10% off up to $40.

Yay!! How many did you get? We have 6 and they are a game changer.
Does Costco offer a scan and go app? Doing this took all my hesitation away from going to Sam's Club on a Saturday. Not having to wait 30-45 minutes in line to check out.

I only use Sam's for pickup now since they bring everything to your car. I don't think Costco has those.

Either four or six. Half the time I go to Costco I'm only getting two or three things (always buy a rotisserie chicken for the dog). So going to a regular checkcout can be a huge pain. I thought we would never get them.

Signed up for this but wow, the price was more than double what we last payed for streaming.
It's gone up $25 since I started using it in December 2018. It is getting expensive but it is a really good product if you like sports, live tv, and unlimited DVR storage. I think I'm so irritated at Verizon becuase they raised their prices and their equipment fees are so high that I just deal with it.

I live in the land/home of Costco and we don't even have self check out. They don't have scan and go either. I will say I got to one that is always busy about 930 when they "open" people were already leaving with their purchases, and it wasn't bad at all. I had to wait for the person in front of me to pay as I was putting my stuff on the belt. They only had 4, maybe 5 checkouts open and none had long lines. I think the big thing is just being able to time it right. Even before all this I always tried to go first thing if I had to go on a Saturday, and there's been at least a couple times I tried going after work when I got off at 330 or 4, so the same one I went to today, and the parking lot was basically full so I didn't even stop. It does have a smaller lot compared to others though.

No, and some stores are hard to get out of. But, we are easy so I'm a happy shopper.

Got my Freedom Flex in the mail today from a PC I did early in the week. And off to the sock drawer it goes... HAHA!

Perhaps I'll let you out next quarter though for some of that 5% action!
I got a notice that my CF was kicked out of my Apple wallet while I was still on the phone PCing to Flex. Then the email that my DoorDash account was cancelled bc my CF is no more. I hope it comes quickly since I haven't maxed out Amazon this quarter although I did place an order an hour or so before I pc'd.

Replying to myself... I DID end up going out today (a trip to Ikea to return a damaged frying pan that I purposely ordered online to avoid going to Ikea :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:) and I so I went ahead and went to the Staples... they had $300 worth so I went ahead and got them.

I'll just have to keep an eye on the Amex and see if the online one worked also.

I wonder what my food lounge budget should be for this trip...:rotfl: We are not big drinkers but there are so many interesting lounges and yummy looking beverages at WDW!

thank goodness for the small biz offer and egifter LOL. That $250 I hadn't planned to order a few days ago? Just used $200 of it buying more Roku's LOL. We are sticking with the YouTube TV. Bye Bye Dish. If we hate it after awhile, we are not out anything, I wanted new Rokus anyway. I love the new Rokus, this is actually going to make watching TV overall much easier. And Dish had a fight with our regional sports provider, so dh couldn't watch baseball for over a year, but now he can.
Our Costco had self checkout years ago, but then took them out. And the store is always a zoo, no matter what day or time. I prefer Sams here just for the ease (I like Costco better overall) and it's closer. The scan and go app, and the curbside touchless pickup is something Costco can't touch here.

Thank you so much to whoever first mentioned egifter, @elgerber or @havaneselover I think? I never thought I'd use all my shop small offers. I used about 20 for Walmart gift cards on Fluz when the minimum was $10, 20 stocking my freezer with take and bake pizzas from a local pizza place, and now 20 on egifter buying Google Play to use for YouTube TV.

@elgerber I am also a big fan of YouTube TV. It has gone up in price quite a bit since I got it almost 2 years ago, but we get everything we want and it's still cheaper than cable. And it's possible to get discounts for Google Play gift cards and load them to your account to pay for it. I used an American Express Amazon offer last year for 20% off, and now 50% off with shop small offers.

egifter wasn''t me LOL, I just read about it here.
Thanks for that tip!! So Google play gift cards work? I had no idea. I will keep my eye out. Do those go for 5% off at Target?

Yes, they work. That's what I've been using the past year. Here's a link that gives you step by step instructions. https://www.whattowatch.com/how-to/how-use-gift-card-youtube-tv But I still feel like there was a bit of a learning curve, like the first month my credit card still got charged. I can't remember, but it did manage to get it to work. Not sure about Target.
