Are there any disadvantages to combining Chase personal and Biz accounts? Wife recently got approved for a CIP but there isn’t an option to add a card to transfer points from her CSP.

There are data points that people weren't allowed to use a card not in their name. Might be YMMV. Hopefully it works out for your dad.

If you need another option and have a Platinum card, you can do the gold version of the AU card which is free. That comes with it's own TSA credit. The card would show up on your dad's credit report though and take some time to come.

This happened to DH when we first started churning, he tried to use my mom’s United card and they wouldn’t let him us it. I want to pay for my parents precheck and was planning on going with them to staples, do you know if that will work? we are also going to pay for my niece and nephew, but they are minors so I don’t think that will be a problem.

Since the personal and business interfaces now use the same GUI, there's really no reason not to do it. I recall a time when there as a bug adding personal cards to Chase Pay if you had a merged login, but I never used Chase Pay and I don't know if that still exists. I recently merged mine for the same reason -- transferring earned UR between cards and I also like only have to log in once for all accounts.

Mine are combined and it does make it easier only having one login. DH's are separate - he just got his first biz card in a couple of years, so they reactivated his old biz login. I'm probably going to combine them this weekend. My biggest concern is that I use mint for tracking expenses. It has both of his logins for chase (personal and biz), so I don't think it will mess anything up, but I don't want it to cause a problem there, so I'm going to try to research that a bit before pulling the trigger.

Hey guys, it's been a while since I have been on the forum. Does anyone know if the Chase Ultimate Rewards travel portal has changed? Booking travel last year, I was able to look at and book "Vacation Rentals" like condos & apartments and I no longer see that option available. Now it is just the typical Flights, Cars, Hotels etc... I move all of our points to my CIP, and have recently product changed my CSP to a Freedom Flex. Not sure if the travel portal shows different options for different cards. Would someone with a CSP or CSR mind looking in the portal? If I need to PC my Flex back to a CSP I am willing to do that.

Thanks!

Yes, it changed last fall at some point. Some of us with CSRs still have the old Expedia portal, but I’ve read that anyone with a new card gets the new portal. Some CSRs have been moved to the new portal, I think all CSPs are on the new portal.

Wondering if anyone has any experience booking AA flights with Alaska Air miles? DH and I have flights booked from STL to FLL with SW miles. We have Alaska miles that we've had since our Hawaii trip in 2016 and I'd love to use them.

Anyway, there's an American Airlines flight I can use them on and it would get rid of most of our miles, but I want to make sure I know the downsides to switching. It's been a long time since we've flown anything besides SW. I know there are checked bag fees, but what about choosing a seat? I went through as if I was going to book and it never asked about picking a seat. If you book using Alaska Air miles, do you not pick seats, if that's the case, do they just get assigned later? Do you pay additional for that? I'm not super worried about sitting with DH, just curious. Also, the fees we would be paying are $19 instead of the $5.60 with SW, so there's that too.

The more I think about it, the more I just want to stick with SW and what I know - but I'd love to use my points up, so I can't decide!

As long as you are there to pay for it, it should be fine. There shouldn’t be any reason that you can’t use your own credit card to pay for any charge. I do sorta get the using someone else’s card without them present not being allowed. No way for them to know if it was cc theft or not.

Hi All....

I need to book a Holiday Inn for a winter band trip that my kids are going on. It's (to me) crazy expensive and since my Chase URs aren't going to be used for Japan any time soon, I'd be OK just using them to book this hotel. I don't see this specific hotel on the Chase travel portal for some reason (it's the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Murrieta-Temecula, in California).

First question is, is it normal for a random hotel to just NOT be on the Chase travel portal? There are many other similar hotels listed... just not that one.

Second question is, since I cannot book directly with Chase URs since the hotel isn't on there, what would be the procedure for transfering URs to my IHG account (that I set up specifically to stay at this hotel)?

If this is the number of points it takes, is it just as easy as linking my IHG account to my Chase account, transferring the points, and then completing the reservation?

I’m not sure if it’s different when booking with Alaska miles (I don’t think it would be), but when paying cash or booking with AA miles, you can pick your seat as part of the booking process, or you can go into your reservation after the fact and pick your seat. Most seats on the plane are free - some will have a charge for them, primarily exit row or seats right near the front of economy. The charge will vary based on the length of the flight. On a flight like yours, I’d guess $19-$29ish for those preferred seats. But again, most of the seats are free. Hope that helps!

So last week I woke up to someone having used card number to buy a drink at McD's somewhere and got chase to send a new one. Today I wake up to an email from McD's and chase about another purchase. This time using my McD's acct to get a coke in saginaw MI. So clearly not me.

Deleted my 2 cards off the app and will call McD's on this cause it's on them to fix.

Weird thing about it is both of these happened the early morning after I'd been looking in the app.

I used one of my cards to pay for my adult dd pre-check in person, not a problem.

Hi all,

I have another SW Chase question. I was approved for the SW bus card 1/26. I'll be able to meet the MSR next week. Tuesday 2/8 I have a SW flight home from visiting my parents in AZ. Am I safe to apply for the personal card using the inflight link for the extra 10,000 points?

My stats are
I'm at 3/24
Chase cards 6 personal 3 business
Last personal app 7/2021 last business app 1/2022

I don't want to upset the Chase powers that be but I do want to earn my CP as quickly as possible.

Yes, link your accounts in the chase portal and transfer the points.

Couple other things- I know there's an Amex offer floating around for a chunk of money off of Holiday Inns- not sure if that would apply here.

Also, many of the IHG cards offer a stay 3 nights on points and get the fourth free, if you're looking to extend that trip.

Others will chime in on velocity, but I know that my inflight link was good for about 30 days post flight.

Another option if you hold CSR, one that I've been doing, is pay cash for the room and use dining charges to PYB to offset the cost. Many of our tournaments require we book through them so this is the only way I can use points to cover softball travel. I just use my CSR for all dining.

Since IHG points have a low value of maybe 1/2 a cent per point, it may be best for you to just cash out some points to cover the cost of the rooms. At least that way you will get 1:1 value. You can cash out 1:1 as a statement credit or have it deposited in your bank account. 72000 points is $720 as a statement credit or as cash out. Your hotel may be that much as I don't know your dates, but looking at most of February it's more like $500ish for 2 nights. You can do this with any UR card.

Looking under earn/use - you will see 'cash'.

If you remember, @SouthFayetteFan did a lot of this to convert UR's into actual cash before PYB. SFF - correct me if I'm mistaken.
