Hey folks, anyone have a recommendation for which Hyatt to stay at in San Francisco? It will be our first time Labor Day weekend, 3-4 nights. There are several choices!

Just chatted with Amex and received a big fat nada retention offer. I put quite a bit of spend on the card, but apparently not enough (or it could be the frequency as most of the spend is in April for taxes). The agent was really nice but didn't really try to sell me on the card at all, which was interesting. Anyway, I have a couple more weeks to decide. I'm tempted to use the Dell credit and some of the airline credit, but I worry about clawbacks if I do close the card in a week or two. Any recent experience with that?

I am in the exact same boat. I have been offered nada, then $350, then nada. I am absolutely using every credit I can and DPs on reddit don't show that to be an issue as long as you wait 366 days from first applying. The Dell credits and Airline credits are calendar credits, so one shouldn't be expected not to use those.

I have mine and P2 biz plats coming up for renewal and while I don't want to end up in pop-up jail, I'm really tired of managing these stupid credits. I actually think I might be grateful if they don't give me a retention offer.

Sounds like PC options are: the Business Gold for $295 or Business Green for $95. I don't have the Green but I suppose one could app for it before PCing so one doesn't lose out due to the lifetime rule. Perhaps I'll do that.

Aren't there rules for how many Amex cards one can have open?

I have:

Personal plat
Hilton Aspire
Biz plat 1 ---> perhaps PC to Biz Green after apping for first Biz Green
Biz plat 2
Hilton Biz
Biz Gold
App for new Biz Green

With my AF appearing any day now, I used the Dell and airline credits in early January. Hopefully they won't be clawed back. I haven't used my card much at all (except for the aforementioned credits); I called for a retention offer in December but was told I had one in February, 2021 and would have to wait until this month for another. I am not hopeful.

Ok, pardon my possibly dumb question. But according to the flowchart on the r/churners thing, most business cards don't show on your credit report or count against the 5/24. So does that mean there's no harm in applying as a denial wouldn't hurt your score anyway? Or would the pull still show up?

Okay 2 more WWYD?

1- I'm supposed to be going to Playa Del Carmen on Tuesday w/ the BF. The trip is likely 95% a bust since his dad has to have heart surgery. Everything looked good after his 1st appts to push ahead. He has another set of appts on Monday. I was going to wait to cancel the hotel on Monday (which is w/in the window). He just got his March schedule, and it looks like we might be able to squeak out a trip March 6-9th. Right now my FNC are tied up w/ the reservation for next week. The hotel has availability for the March dates right now. I'm torn on cancelling now to make sure I get the March dates. If something happens Monday where the surgery is pushed, we will plan on going Tuesday. WWYD? Give up next week to make sure you get the March dates? Wait till Monday and then reschedule? Ahhhhh! I should add, March requires me to take off from school, and who knows what state his dad will be in after. So it's not a sure thing, or a better option to warrant cancelling next week (hope that makes sense).

2- Since likely PDC isn't happening, the BF told me I should still try and get away somewhere next week. I can fly direct into MIA, FLL, RSW, TPA and MCO. The weather looks good in all of those locations. But the issue is finding a good place to go that either has Marriott 50k free nights, or isn't $$$$$$$. I mean the Hampton Inn at Clearwater Beach w/ my friend's Hilton discount is $850/nt!!! Where would you suggest looking? I'd likely do 2-3 nights and I'm flexible on flying down anytime after Monday (damn hockey). I'll be using my non-rev bennies (for the first time) so flights aren't the issue. I need sunshine! I was hoping to snag the Sheraton in Clearwater (did that for a feb break before), but it's sold out. If I do beach, I'd like a hotel on the beach. If I do just warm and sunshine, I want a nice/awesome pool area.
The Gaylord in Orlando has a nice pool and other activities. The Courtyard FLL is on the beach. Pompano Beach has Marriotts or Hollywood Beach.

I have stayed at the Sheraton Clearwater Beach and it is just ok. The beach is quite the trek although there is a golf cart shuttle to it. It is on the other side of the bridge of Clearwater so not much happening and the pool is tiny.

Ugh seeing on r/awardtravel ana is cancelling flughts through october and only flying from sea twice a week. Haven't gotten an email and the reservation part of their site is down for maintenance.

Frustrating as there's small rumor they are going to start relaxing restrictions next month. Guess those DL miles might come in handy after all. Am booked one way so maybe I'll get lucky that one of my flights is a day they fly.

Fingers crossed for you!
why can’t Japan just open up?!? I have a feeling it is going to be super expensive to book hotels when they finally open up.

Both, really, but I suppose with it being our first visit there we won't be in the room much because we'll be out exploring. So convenience should priority.
Lain recommended me Hyatt Regency Embarcadero, its across the street from the Ferry Building, sits on top of the metro/bart and you can also take buses to go up and down the piers. Assuming you dont have a car though. Hotel itself is nice but it isnt that great, but its a place to stay that allows you to go in both north, east and west direction.

Fingers crossed for you!

Many Asian countries are still having the mindset of zero covid, i think sooner or later, it will start opening up. I believe Japan is currently trying to open up for study abroad students atm, soon it will be for tourist.
