The DisFort's Chit Chat Cafe

Also, looking through my parents photo album... I can across this which was parked at the Fort all painted up with Chip n Dale and Musket Mickey logo on front door. I vaguely remember something about this being there, but not sure what it was all about... I believe this was between 1995 and 2000 sometime...00F3F945-BBB9-4981-9AF9-11C4A9655FF4.jpeg

We had taken the picture because my mom and dad also had a Tioga class C of similar model/year.

That camper is very cool, even if it was from 20+ years ago. Some things are timeless.

Been working around the pool. The wood deck is restained. Hooks for the pool hose. Plants are out. Wired up the old outlet on the back of the garage. It was the 20 amp feed to the old pool pump. It has been converted into a media port. 110 volt for lights and TV. HDMI plug for the satellite feed. The receiver is in the garage for winter projects.

So this morning we wake up, early, like 430 am early. Look at radar and there are storms a brewing, so I hurry and let the dog out. When DW and I get to the car to leave, it is lightning and thundering. Oh boy. It rained for the entire 3 hour trip north. We got to the dealership and there it was.

So after completing all the paperwork, I donned my Aerostitch Roadcrafter suit, "The Road Grimed Astronaut" and we departed in the rain headed to my parents house a little over an hour away.

So this was radar when I was riding. I went thru that nice yellow spot on the left, and all that dark green, yeah. Got to parents house and my gloves were soaked, the rest of me was not too bad as the suit holds up well. So we visited a bit, let the weather break some and when the sun came out got my gear out to dry. Then it was time to say goodbye so we got ready.

Me suited up ready to go, and DW just posing for the picture. She was driving in the nice dry car. So off we headed, ran in to some light rain, about 30 mins south of my parents for a short bit. Then we hit the sunny area, and humid and hot. Temp on my dash said it was 90 degrees. Put nearly 200 miles on it today, and feel pretty good.

Just before I backed it in the garage for the night.

How hot was that in 90 degrees? I imagine it doesn't breath a lot if it is water proof. Ours weren't waterproof (fire proof yes) and they had vents under the arms and down the sides. They were still hot, but our cool shirts made it bearable in the car. I can't imagine in something waterproof.

@PaHunter love the pics. i know the rain was bad. We were concerned about it for the drive up. Got lucky though storms moved through before we got to Ohio. In fact I got most of the rain in Kentucky. It was light rain.

for those kee track, even though I hate driving, I do give bert a mid break and drive Kentucky basically. I do just about 2.5 hours. He is happy if I make it 2. Today he helped me out we did Frozen sing a long while driving.

Jim,
Luckily while I was in the rain the temps were quite cool as we were still up north. Once I got out of the rain I was able to stop and unzip. The suit has a vent on the back between the shoulders, under each arm, and each side to access pants pockets. So when I open the vents it is not too bad at all.
One thing after yesterday's ride, need to look at a new windshield, something with a vent built in like my Goldwing used to have. The driver does not get a ton of airflow which, when raining maybe ok, but when it warms, some would be nice.
Other than that the bike ran beautifully, handled great, even in the rain. It felt solid, felt planted. Still looking for the handbrake, gonna take a bit until I remember it is only my foot. And having reverse is very nice, as you don't have to worry about where one parks it.
Gonna take a ride today with DW, see how it handles two up. Comm system coming next week so that we will be able to talk and I will be able to make phone calls while on the road. Plenty of room to be able to use it for work commuting, so this week will be racking up the miles.

@PaHunter ,

Do you plan to add a way to roll it up onto Foolish Mortals when you're camping?

That has been discussed. We would need to add deck plating with welded tiedowns, 3 ramps and somewhere to store said ramps and then you use an electric winch to pull it up backwards on to the truck. I know of a fella who carries two of them stacked behind his cab as both he and his wife ride. So as we can afford to it would be nice.

So today we woke up, got some things done and took DW for a ride on the new Spyder.

This is the Books bridge, built in 1884, it is 70 ft long. All of the bridges shown above use a Burr Truss design.

Today we visited 5, there are 14 located here in the county and we will visit them all. I also want to map them out for a ride in the fall.

Looks good, PaHunter.

I finally got around to upgrading to Windows 10 yesterday. (I know, I know, laugh at Ed). :rotfl2:

But I feel like I got something done this weekend.

Went up to Cuyahoga National Park for a hike. It is definitely not North GA. In 6.5 miles only gained 900 feet of elevation. Trail was very different terrain and no real views. However, glad we went it was nice to hike for 2.5 hours after 11 hours in the car. I hate skipping a run day but running after the drive is brutal at least the hike I feel like I get a workout but nit throttled. Bonus the trail head was not far about a 40 minute drive compared to 1.5 to 2 hours to get to the mountains.

in order to not bother Debbie while we were gone (mallory will chirp the entire time), we put Mallory outside. I think she likes it.

have to make a run to the grocery store but can sit and enjoy for the rest of the day.

@bama_ed we might hike Quail Hollow after I run on Friday since we have the day off. Plus bert says it’s easy.

for the moment Debbie is back in the bedroom. Her pain makes her uncomfortable so she moves from bed To chair to couch, etc. right now it’s the beds turn. It is also herb and Debbie’s 51st anniversary today. what a difference a year makes, last year on a cruise with all parents and Debbie was great.

Nice photo, Kris.

I've ridden the train thru the CVNP a couple times leaving from the Akron station. It's nice. You can get off in a couple places (stations) and walk/bike the towpath for the canal/river and get on a later train to get back. Some restaurants and bike rental shops at the Peninsula station. But it's closed this summer I think due to COVID (of course).

Ed

PS - and a popular local Italian place within a walk of the Akron station, Luigi's.

Digging around on HDT RVer blogs/YouTubes, it seems like a pretty tight knit sub-community of the RV world. Quite cool. I'd love to join it, buuuuuut I'm going to have a heck of a time convincing the comptroller...errrr I mean DW getting on board with that.

With my tickets rolled over to Sep 21, I've been in full planning mode today. Got a bit distracted on Google Earth and noticed that all the the RVs are 3D modeled around FW. Is your rig out there somewhere?
