August 2011

The track keeps changing a little with each update. Just from 6am to noon, I've seen changed in the track. I am now following spaghettimodels.com During all the hurricanes of 2004, the GFDL model was the most accurate.

I need to stock up on batteries and water just in case.

My husband says we aren't cancelling and I was thinking too about seeing about checking in Thursday night. (But then we'd be leaving our house unattended during the storm. Though I feel safer with Disney's construction than our house's construction.) Or I wonder if they hold your reservation if you can't check in on the day of check in, but can check in the next day? I don't mind losing payment for a night for safety's sake.

Given the circumstances, I'm sure if you contacted them and told them you will be delayed by a day that they would hold your reservation - after all, as you said, they will be charging you regardless.

The last couple of updates, the track has been shifting eastward. This is very encouraging. The downside of that though is, that if it stays just offshore it will keep getting stronger and possibly larger. The GFDL however, is an outlier, keeping it to the south and west, taking it into the gulf - so if that ends up being the most accurate that would pretty much be a best-case scenario (for us at least).

With this storm approaching I told my wife lets take the last flight out Thursday night (we both have to work a full day) landing at 11:10pm..stay at my brothers (who just lives 1 mile away from the Mouse) for the remaining of the night. We could then check in at the WL on Friday for one night before heading over to the BCV's for our 7 night stay.I would rather be in Disney during the storm then sitting in NY being delayed from taking off. She agreed so we will be going a day earlier.... We survived the 2004 hurricane that came thru Disney and we can do it again if need be...

What a weekend!

We had some really bad thunder storms on and off from Friday night through Sunday. There were some road closures due to flooding and some scattered power outages.

The good news is DD is home from the hospital, in better condition than when she went in!:cool1: It has been 5 days seizure free, the longest she has ever gone is 7 days! Our Dr. adjusted the levels of her meds and it seems to be working!!

I did all my grocery shopping for our trip and started to pack! The first things I put in the suitcases were the ponchos!!:rotfl:

Only 3 more sleeps till we hit the road!

STAY AWAY IRENE!!!:scared1:

I'm getting a little nervous about Irene. Looking at it, though, it appears that the commercial airlines will just divert around it, but it could obviously cause delays from JFK to MCO.

We're supposed to land at 10:30 PM. I wonder what time we're actually going to land.

Latest run of the GFS forecast model has Irene even further off the coast, so "the trend is our friend" right now. Hopefully, this trend doesn't reverse itself at some point.

Arrived this morning at The Wilderness Lodge for our 10 night stay! Got here at 10:30am and the room was ready. For reference:booked a standard view, got a free upgrade to woods view. Great one too. Directly above a pond, and you can see the castle, the contemporary, and I'm guessing the fireworks! Whoohoo!

I hope it keeps the trend! I hope it stays in the water and gets to cooler water to slow it down before hitting land. Although is there cooler weather after the north had such a hot July?

Actually, the gulfstream waters off the east coast are extremely warm and will likely cause Irene to strengthen into a real monster. :scared1:

Waiting for everyone else to get ready and then we are off!!!!

Have a fun and safe trip!

Oh Phooey! What's helpful for one area could pose more damage to another. We could use a win-win scenario here!

The 5am spaghetti models have it way shifted even from last night, and my GFDL is no longer touching Florida.

:hug:THANKS EVERYONE!

She is not comming to Disney with us, she will stay here and cover my job, and hopefully get some nursing school homework done! She is looking forward to being on her own a little, my FIL lives just down the street, my next door neighbor is awesome and my oldest DD will make sure everything is going well, so no worries! 6 DAYS SEIZURE FREE!!!

The video eeg is long and grueling, it takes weeks to get all the glue off of her head! They actually used nail glue to keep the electrodes in place!

Tink, she also has some myoclonic activity, her neurologist says it can be a side effect of her medication! Congrats on you son being seizure free! It really is a BIG deal!! People that don't have to live with epilepsy have no idea what we go through.

Only 2 more sleeps till we pick up the rental car and hit the road! Yesterday I was worried that Irene would hit FL, today I'm worried it will hit home!
