Places you would never want to go on Hoilday

I actually have no desire to travel anywhere outside of my country. There is so much of it that I haven't seen and want to see that I don't have time to worry about going anywhere else. I've got too much I want to see right here. So, I guess my list would be rather long.

That is how I feel. My bucket list is to visit all our National Parks and my desire to do that is greater than my desire to visit other countries.
However if opportunities arise to travel abroad I wouldn't refuse, except for places on my list.

My wife and I are currently looking at and deciding on which RV we're going to purchase because we plan to do a several month tour of the National Parks in the very near future. We can't seem to decide on which type of RV we want but once we get that figured out I'm looking forward to planning a once in a lifetime trip for us very soon.

Camping. There’s a reason God invented hotels.

Cruising. No thanks. Maybe a European river cruise, but thats my limit.

Mexico, although we used to go often.

Anywhere with a State Dept. warning.

Some parts of Africa and Asia are a no, but some are a yes.

Next year, we are headed to Eastern Europe, although our itinerary isn’t solid yet.

Of the mainstream places people visit, we have been to NYC and Chicago and glad we have seen and done a lot of attractions there but no desire to ever go back.
We have not been to London or Paris and those are dream trips to some but no desire to us to see them. Well maybe Paris to stay at DL Paris then just take the train in to see Eiffel Tower since I am so close to it.
Another no is an all-inclusive, no place in particular just none. Just the whole atmosphere or sitting around and drinking all day or lounging on the beach has no appeal to us. Went to a very nice one once and it had a ton of activities but we were bored out of our minds all day and ended up taking excursions each day.

I agree with camping. I live in a a area where lots of people go camping but I have no desire.

Anywhere currently at war.

Mexico- been twice ( once just for the day on a cruise) and no really desire to go back.

Adventure travel- No climbing mountains, sky diving, etc

I am game just about everywhere else.

It's funny--so many of my favorite vacations have been listed. I'm not generally a fan of camping although I've had a couple really good camping trips. And I'm not a fan of road trips...

I really wouldn't turn down anywhere unless it seemed too dangerous however some places just don't appeal.

I don't see much for me in South or Central America except maybe Peru or Costa Rica or Belize. I would go pretty much anywhere in Europe but most of Asia isn't on my list except Japan or Russia. Anywhere else around the world looks interesting.

Much of the U.S. wouldn't be a high priority but I won't say where to keep from insulting anyone. ;)

There are so many places I'd love to see that I can't really think of anywhere I'd wouldn't want to visit.

Of course, while I'd love to see the Middle East, I wouldn't want to travel there right now, & I'd be leery of going anywhere w/ listed "travel advisories" or places that are currently considered dangerous due to war/government factions. But I'd love to visit places like Morocco & Egypt & Dubai, & Israel would be be wonderful too.

And there are places that are higher up on my list than others - like Nebraska & New Jersey aren't as high up on my list as places like Aruba & the Everglades.

Camping is kinda "meh" though for me. I'll do it, but it's not my favorite. If I'm somewhere nature-y, I'd rather sleep for the night in a nice cabin or lodge as opposed to a camper or tent.

And the American South... regardless of the politics, my heart is here forever. And having people disparage the area where I live is kinda sad & a little hurtful.

As they say on the DIS "...well bless your heart!" :lmao:

Alberta is a beautiful province and I’ve been there many times and taken my kids there a couple times.
But right now the right wing redneck political feel of it just turns me off.
I’ve read so many nasty comments from Albertans (and some Saskatchewan) regarding politics, Liberals, pipelines, etc I just don’t want to visit there at this time.
Please don’t take it personally.

:confused3 Well, maybe there are multiple agendas because Alberta's abortion laws are the same as those in Manitoba.

I don’t have an agenda. I’m not one to hold back saying what I feel.

The posts I quoted were referring to the new laws in the States.

I don’t know specific laws for Alberta or Manitoba, or any other part of Canada. I do know though that if someone needs one, they get one.

I don’t want to derail this thread so if you want to say more, let’s move it to the feminist thread, ok?

No offence taken; I realize we can't all be as erudite as people from the 'Peg. :wave2:

Did someone say vacation? Unless it’s a pretty dangerous place like Yemen or Somalia, etc, I am there! I have been sooo lucky to have caught the travel bug when I was 14 on a high school trip to Mexico. Since then I haven’t stopped.

I truly believe this world is an amazing place and every single place has something to offer. Sure I loved some places better than others, but the experiences and memories gained from each trip are priceless.

When I hear people say I will never go to Europe or Asia or New York or camping, etc., I actually feel sad for them. Some of life’s best moments come in unexpected places and at unexpected times. Leaving yourself open to any and all new adventures is what makes life so exciting and amazing.

My personal motto is “Carpe Vacationum”!

The Death Camps from Nazi rule... awful :guilty:
Pompeii et al... too morbid :(
Chernobyl... scary!

Pompeii was extraordinary to see.

Same here. Its an amazing world, no part of it is boring. I have been lucky to travel around Europe a lot and the US but my bucket list is endless...

And all of you who wrote Middle East -- I invite you to visit me in Israel :drinking:beach is 10 mins away so no need for cruising, best food both street and fancy and you get everythinv from history, religion to nature within a few hours drive.

Ive also been to Jordan and Turkey, hope to visit Egypt someday (my parents have).

Life is short and the world is wide. There are very few places I don't want to visit. My daughter is going to Israel in 9 days and I am insanely jealous!!

Then she comes home and a few weeks later we sail to Cuba. Life is good.

Camping... definitely camping. And any place that has a travel ban or is considered unsafe for travelers.

However, the National Parks are great! You just have to plan ahead and make lodge reservations in the parks well in advance. Often a year or more in advance for some parks. The parks and beautiful and it is magical staying in some of the historic lodges that centrally located in the parks. i.e. El Tovar at Grand Canyon, Majestic at Yosemite, Old Faithful Inn at Yellowstone, etc.
