Well guys we finally broke down and did it. With our trip to Australia on life support and lots of time at home, we decided it was time for a new family member (and very excited DS!) We welcomed Tati into our home. I’m a glutton for punishment.

So sweet. Congratulations!

I stated awhile back that my parents work at a local lumberyard. We skyped with them last night and my mom said customers aren’t caring about the 6 ft rule at all. That makes me nervous because she works with customers all day. She helps them pick out paint and stuff. It’s a small town and they’ve already had lots of positive tests and 3 deaths so I’m not sure why they aren’t taking it seriously

Is it Iowa? I get Ohio and Iowa mixed up - still! Has the state implemented any stay at home or closings?

Adorable! And my cockatiel is named Tati. She will be 11 years old in August.

It is scary!! I had to drop my car off to be serviced yesterday, and I was showing the guy a promo price pulled up on my phone, and he reached for AND grabbed my phone. PEOPLE! What is wrong with people?!! If I were you, I would tell your parents to be cautious! Maybe they should put up signs/wear signs that remind people to keep 6 ft away at all times!
This is exactly what I was complaining about on Saturday for the first day of our "stay at home" order. Our nearest Lowes closed years ago, but HD was busy and Menards was absolutely packed!!! I can guarantee only a tiny portion of people were in there because of an essential need.
I feel like the "stay at home" orders mean absolutely nothing to people. At least that's what I see in my area. People are crowding out the few places that are open. Like I mentioned before, people were literally "hanging out" at our local QT (QuikTrip, it's a gas station but better, like Sheetz). People aren't staying home. Well, maybe a lot are. I know most of this board is taking seriously. But people around my town are still going wherever is open! We have a lot of positive cases in our county, but it doesn't seem to phase people. While grocery shopping this morning, people weren't wiping carts, weren't using sanitizer, weren't social distancing. It was like normal.

We use Shipt often and it's not unusual for the store itself to be out of stock despite the app allowing the items to be added to the order. It's an issue with Instacart as well - the app/websites are not real-time inventory. So it can be annoying. I like Instacart a bit better because it allows you to specify a substitute if what you want is out of stock. With Shipt they're supposed to ask. Peapod, a Giant grocery option, substitutes at their own discretion so it's like playing roulette.

We are using Instacart to get our stuff from Giant.

He did a great job asking me about substitutions. I felt bad because I was keeping him in the store longer. The only thing he didn’t ask about was the brats. I think he might have picked out the wrong formula too but it’s still target brand sensitive so I’m not mad. I think the one I picked out had iron in it or something. Since we didn’t have to go into the store I’m honestly not going to complain much. $2 more per milk isn’t a huge deal in the grand scheme of things.

Omg that’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen

It’s Iowa and no they haven’t stated any stay at home orders. The place my parents work is considered essential as well as where dh’s parents work.

I have 2 future cruises booked on UR's also. Earliest one is in December - so hoping we are still able to go on that one. Other one is next May. The cancellation would be based on the cruiselines policy. So, say you paid for it all with UR;s but the non-refundable deposit was $50 per person - then you would get that $ in a Future Cruise Credit - the rest you should be back in UR's if you are within the cancellation period. (That is how I understand it). What cruiseline is it?
So it's Carnival. Like I said, IDK if I booked early saver rates(which means no refund, just future cruise credit) or another rate. And calling UR portal right now is too crazy,so I'll wait. The insurance was booked separately thru a reputable insurer...(I hope) I really, really wish I could make myself want to do this still. But after reading the stats and stories surrounding inside cabins especially if something goes sideways.....I just can't.

I wouldn't buy too much formula in advance. Both my babies were VERY picky about what they liked. My DD I tried several (like we're talking 6 or 7 different) before we finally settled on Similac Soy. My son, wasn't as picky and after a few seemed to like GoodStart. Just like diapers, formula is definitely something baby specific that you don't even realize. Thank god for the free samples from the Ped while we were trying to figure it all out. Oh and be sure to always ask for samples at your appt. Once we knew what the kids liked, I was sure to always ask (as they have so many).

What a precious pup!!! I bet your DS is thrilled! Congrats on your new baby :)

Even if you booked Early Saver (which is what we normally do) you would only lost the Deposit amount to a FCC. And right now as I see it - Carnival has extended it's policy so you have up until 30 days to cancel for a refund of UR"s (minus the deposit amount which would still be in the from a FCC).

I just got the one can and went with sensitive hoping that would be better. I just wanted something on hand in case I need it right away. I do have samples of other kinds that we can use too if we need to. Since they’re getting moms out of the delivery so quickly and sending them home I thought I better have something just in case I have issues breastfeeding

My big news for the day....at 43, I finally did my taxes all by myself. Well I think so, LOL. The ex, is a CPA and always did them for us, and did mine last year. I put in all the stuff I had (which is fun because I had 2 schedule C businesses) and I got within $15 of what my refund was last year. So he thinks I probably did it right. He'll look it over for me.

I'm going CRAZY over here, thank GOD we did FL the first week of this. Tomorrow the governor will drop the news as to what Michigan is doing for the rest of the year. I'd given my students a 2 week project before we left (originally out for 3 weeks, 2 regular, 1 spring break). But we're not allowed to make any of the work required right now. I'm going to have to morph the rest of my "Intro to Engineering" class if we don't go back, since we still had 2 units in CAD and not everyone will have the software. My Intro to Architecture will be moved to an online "interior design" web-based program. So I'll have to change the focus of the projects they do as well. My Principles of Engineering class won't get to do any of the hands-on stuff we were getting ready to do (trusses, bridges, towers, etc). Lots of Math coming up for them now instead. I'm sure they'll love it! They were begging to do "Ruth Bader GInsburg" Machines (yes, that's what they called Rube Goldberg) so maybe I'll give them that as a project, LOL.

All that said, according to the site posted, we hit the peak here in Michigan in 10 days. We managed to move to #3 in country I saw yesterday. And of course I live in the county w/ the highest and teach in the county that is 2nd highest. That said though, I'm about 30 min from Detroit. We've only had 29 cases in my city/township and 1 death. So.....

With gas so cheap, I do think I'm going to make my 15yo get some of the driving hours she needs. Why not let her drive when no one is out, LOL.

third party
Third party insurance might not cover you at all. Don’t take this as gospel because this is a new area for me as well and I know very little and have never claimed a UR loss- but you paid in Ultimate Rewards so they *might* claim the part of your trip paid in points is not reimbursable. I’m just saying before you depend on that claim being filled know for sure...?

Ahhh, yes. Both mine were c-sections, so I was there for a few days. And I didn't breastfeed. In fact both my kids apparently would have been terrible to breastfeed the nurses said, LOL. Between the formula issues, and the reflux, and the "latch" one had....I probably would have ended up in the loony bin (much sooner....LOL. Reflux alone will drive you crazy). Good luck! And here's hoping it's easy peasy!
